Siguro at this point we should ask ourselves: Gusto pa ba natin maglaro ng DDM? I know I do. I've enjoyed this game for a very long time and I have no plans on stopping now. Pero if we want to keep this game alive we need to do something very important...

WE NEED TO GROW! WE NEED NEW PLAYERS!

Successful DDM Chapters abroad used these steps to do this:

1. Have a convenient location - done. meron na tayong Neutral Grounds.

2. keep to a regular schedule - we have to work on this, there is nothing worse than new players showing up to play and no one else is there! Kelan ba ang pinaka convenient na DDM Day? Sunday? Saturday? Weeknights? More on this below...

3. let's keep it simple for the newbies - we will provide all the materials that are needed to play the game para all they have to do is bring themselves para maglaro!

4. Don't get too serious - Focus on how to play, learning battle terms/tactics and have fun. Let's keep the atmosphere fun!

5. Post flyers - start a Yahoo/Google Group or Website page - well, meron na tayo dito sa hcrealms at NG. Pero I think may magagawa pa tayo to reach other D&D and DDM players out there...

and last but definitely not the least...

6. Use coaches to teach new players - I can't stress this enough. Without the support of the current players, pupulutin lang tayo sa kangkungan!

On the matter of stocks, I have a suggestion pero let's discuss it offline.

I know doing this would take time and effort. There's no such thing as free lunch diba? So let's do our bit if we want to keep this game alive!

So first things first: The Schedule. What FIXED day in the week, and the time, can we commit to playing DDM? Is this feasible? Para may predictability tayo like our Heroclix friends. Suggestions?

and para may mailagay na tayo sa ating mga pang-invite, we'll have to come up with a regular fixed date for D&D games... para automatic na sa mga players kung kailan may laro at kung saan.

Of course hindi lang on that time maglalaro. We can do freeplay any time of the week. Ito lang yung fixed day of the week na may laro at kung kailan gaganapin yung mga league events and tourneys.

so far we have Sunday afternoons after lunch til 6pm. Any other suggestions? Saturday 3pm til closing time kaya?

And of course ulit this is not a commiment... lahat tayo may work/family/personal time to balance on top of our play time, so post lang natin kung kailan ang most convenient time natin to play D&D.

Ako I have a shifting work sched and I'm about 2 hours away pa from Ortigas so I could probably go either saturday or sunday once or twice a month for a freeplay or two or for a tourney. :cool:

Hopefully we could build a core of 3 to 4 players who regularly play DDM in a given location. Eventually with the regular exposure makikilala ng ibang players ang DDM and hopefully they'll try it out.

Nandito naman na yung ingredients - good gameplay, great quality of the figs, and great friendly players - kulang lang tayo sa exposure.

Agree with the idea of more free/casual plays.

Just focus on having FUN. That's, for me; is the true essence of any game.

in expansion wars, choose your own expansion, 100% of your warband should be from the same expansion, i.e. all demonweb, all savage encounters, etc.:)

maybe a 250pt or 300pt. format will do. constructed assault!:classic:

warband building is legal, any faction and alignment is legal!

Suggestion ko lang dito would be to be able to choose an expansion, so pwede mag-cater to all types of collections.

Also, for me, a fair 80-85% of your warband lang should be from that expansion, I think. This is to help players who just get certain choice figs from different sets depending on their interest. If I was an Underdark-heavy new player with most figs from LE and SE, baka mahirapan ako mag-round out nung remaining points, except if a few cheap Kobold Miners were allowed to get into the band. ;)

Maybe maganda din na mag-stick to a standard 200pt build. Medyo gamayan na rin sa special warband-building rule, so having 1 non-standard ruling is enough na siguro, I think.

Ang nakikita ko lang na concern dito is possible frequency of phonebooth-type bands like 3-4xGith Monk, 3-4xWitchknife, 3-4xWand Expert, heck even EAA's :p, na medyo mawawala tuloy yung parang intent of this special rule to play with or against new build-types. :confused:

Hey all. As the subject implies, I’m here to clear up any confusion about the PH3 Miniatures set and the future of D&D minis. First off, D&D Minis are not going away. We have a lot of great releases this year, including Orcus, and we’ll have more information on those releases as the year moves on.

Now as to the PH3 minis set specifically, it has indeed been canceled. We’re making some exciting changes to minis this year, and while I can’t tell you exactly what those changes are yet, the PH minis series didn’t support the new vision. As always, I’ll come back as soon as I have any new info, and if you have any questions, send them my way and I’ll answer whatever I’m able.

WotC D&D Seminar:

Lots of D&D RPG Stuff for 2010 (including re-launch of Dark Sun setting and and new Gamma World)

1) Orcus (colossal) is coming in June 2010. It will definately be LIMITED. I cannot remember if they said how much it will cost.

2) Streets of Shadow is cancelled. Some of the minis planned for this set will be folded into next set.

3) The next and only miniature set in 2010 will be Lords of Madness.

- A Huge set
- No visibles
- 6 minis per pack
- 60 mini set
- There will be VERY RARE rares in set:
Very rare and Rare Huges, Larges, and Mediums.
- $21.99 per booster
- Will not be released before GenCon
(listed as August, but likely September)
- Includes some from Streets of Shadow and PHH 3

4) There are two board games for 2010:

- Castle Ravenloft (includes previosuly released minis, UNPAINTED)

- Dragon Fure Mountain (or some such title) (will include previously released minis, unpainted)

- There may be future board games that may include new mini sculpts

5) Some Dark Sun setting figures may show up in future minis sets.

6) There is one planned MINI surprise for 2010. They did not say anymore about this.

7) They (WotC) do not know what to expect for 2011. They indicated it could stay at 1 set per year, or goto 2, or possibly even 3 sets per year.


Well, seems like we have plenty of time now to catch up with all of the restats that just came in. :p

Don't like the idea of "very rare" minis though.... :confused:

Anyway, this should help us plan out what we should do this year, DDM-wise hehe...so what do you guys think? These news look interesting enough to open up for discussion...

heck, ni hindi ko pa nga nagagamit masyado yung Legendary Evils ko. Let alone yung gazillion restated figs! And then meron pang Savage Encounters and the Gargantuan dragons na wala pang restats.

indeed it seems like we will have plenty of time now to catch up with all of the restats that just came in.

with all the figs we have perhaps we could also do set rotation internally. like a continuous expansion wars, to keep it fresh at para maging iba-iba ang meta. new players could always buy figs online.

Some minor news: DDM Errata document has been updated now. Might want to check that out. For one, Flashfire Arc attack of the Sorceror on Black Dragon got back the "each against a different target" text on its Guild card, which was missing before (which made it more powerful sana, but oh well).

Oddly enough, still no errata entries on similarly-named figs from different sets. So the AF Unicorn is still different from the Delves one. Same with the DE Harpy vs. Delves Harpy.

Just placing it here for everyone's reference about the weakened plus multiple damage type interaction, as we might've been playing it differently before.

It combines the skirmish game and rpg - may hero character ka which gains xp and levels up and you build a warband around him and battle other warbands!

Good for league play para may character development every time we play. The EC has been around for so very long it's time to give it a whirl! :grin:

Dudes kng itutuloy ung Royal Rumble, I suggest that these rules:

1. Arena type but only up to 4-5 figs per player.
2. Random drafting for the order of fig/player into the fray.
3. Every 2 or 3 rounds another fig/player will enter the game until all figs/player has entered. No player will have 2 successive figs enter.
4. A fig will be eliminated when it has lost all HP. A player will be declared lost when all of his designated figs are eliminated.
5. There will be several awards to be attained:
Most eliminated
Last fig standing
Longest residence in the game
Shortest residence in the game

If you have suggestions, please feel free to post.

Here's how to play DDM at Vassal - the last refuge for those who want to play while hundreds of miles away! :cool:

You will need WinRAR (or other program that can unzip RAR files). You can get it here (http://download.cnet.com/WinRAR-32-bit/3000-2250_4-10007677.html).

Installing Vassal:

I recently got a new computer, so I thought I would write this for people who needed it.

This is how I installed Vassal on my new PC that had Windows 7 installed. There may be slight differences, but you should be able to use these instructions for other computer OS as well (I am not sure about Mac).

1st- I got the most recent version of Java installed (I got version 6 update 17)

2nd- I went to the vassal website (http://www.vassalengine.org/community/index.php) and clicked the Quick Start link for Windows. Save the install file.

3rd- Go to the Download folder (or where you downloaded the file to) and run the installer. Follow the installer instructions. I selected the standard installation options. When it finished, there is a shortcut icon on your desktop.

4th- Create a Skirmish Folder (I created mine on the desktop).

5th- Next you need to download the correct Mod.

1.0 Mod:
Go to the Eternal Campaign webpage (http://demon4x4.com/EC/) and download the EC_1-9 file. Put the file in the Skirmish folder after you download it.

Next download the EC_1-9_ext file and place that in the Skirmish Folder. This is a RAR file, unzip the file in the Skirmish folder. You should get a Folder called DDM_EC_1-7_ext. You need to change the folder name to DDM_EC_1-9_ext. There will be 3 RAR files inside the folder, DO NOT UNZIP THESE FILES!

2.0 Mod:
Go to the Vassal page (http://www.vassalengine.org/community/index.php?option=com_vassal_modules&task=display&module_id=202&page=Files) and download the DDM2.mod file. Put the file in the Skirmish folder after you download it.

Next download the DDM2_ext file and place that in the Skirmish Folder. This is a RAR file, unzip the file in the Skirmish folder. You should get a Folder called DDM2_ext, with a file inside it called “maps”. DO NOT UNZIP THE MAP FILE!


Now that you have the Mod(s) downloaded, you are nearly ready. Start Vassal and you will see a screen telling you to download a module and open it using the File Menu to start playing. Do this. Navigate to where your Skirmish folder is located and select a Mod to be opened. (I had selected the 1.0 Mod in this screen shot)

You will be asked to type in your real name the first time you start the mod. This is actually the name that will appear in the room, so it would be better to use the name most of your opponents will most likely recognize you by.

Next will be the Play mode menu. Start a new game offline is the default selection, change to Look for a game online and you will be connected to the vassal server

In the future, when you start vassal, your Module Library will list the Modules you have previously opened. Here you can see I have started both the 1.0 mod and the 2.0 mod (The 1.0 mod says 1.15.1 in the Module Version field and the 2.0 mod says DDM2). You can double click the name (Miniatures Skirmish Game) to start the Mod and the Play mode menu will come up.

Try mo mag-online DDM pre. Ako sa vassal ako kadalasan naglalaro kaya yung figs ko di ko na halos nagagamit liban na lang sa few games with Hexav.
