I played with R-Sandman in a tournament today. While I didn't win the tournament, Sandman did really well in all 3 games. I lost him the first game, but his plasticity combined with invulnerability were really handy to tie up taxis. 9 attack with 3 damage was also quite useful for doing some damage. The E-Sandman is just as good with 9 attack and 3 damage lasting an extra click. I don't like the V version as much because he loses a click of invulnerability and gains toughness instead. I'd rather have the R version I think. He's the cheapest, starts out nearly the same as the E (other than movement), and can really lock down those cheap taxis or wounded figures that can't hurt him.
Now, in the tournament, in the second game my opponent got 2 6's for breakaway in a row. In game 3 my opponent got 3 6's in a row, and Sandman rolled a 1 for his only breakaway attempt the entire tournament. Lucky rolls (for my opponent, anyway) aside, he really holds up well.
