Neo-ATC Rules
For the purpose of reference (for me and players) The following rules are implemented in ATC during Tourneys I will preside for non-Golden Age games:

POWERS:
* Super Strength - as is but add: "As a Power Action, if the figure is not holding an object and adjacent to an immobile object, Wall or Blocking Terrain, give the figure a light standard object. Adjacent object,wall or Blocking Terrain is destroyed as per standard rules." This replaces the +2damage to blocking terrain/objects.

* Hypersonic - retains Option 2 but remove the +1 defense each succesful attack (why would it be harder to hit if you already did?). Character using this option cannot exceed damage equal to natural damage+3 (as per rule of 3)

*TAs - unless otherwise ruled in the tournament, the following TAs are treated as follows:
- IL = Masters of Evil (Same point cost same effect as the marvel counterpart, and nobody remembers to use the Standard IL TA or "The Society" TA)
- ATAs require the specific keyword (IE Thunderbolts, Alpha Flight, etc.)

KEYWORDS:
* The following keywords are modified: Justice League, Justice League of America and JLA = Justice League, All the versions of the Avengers(including Force Works) = Avengers

* All unrestricted figures that are Mutants in comics = Mutant keyword

* New specific Keywords:
- Fourth World = All the figures with Apokalips/Apokolips and New Gods Keywords
- Galactus' Heralds = separate from the Herald generic Keyword(Thus the Heralds can be a theme on their own without too much points needed)

* Non-generic themes may play Event Dial instead of BFC if higher initiative (thereby no BFC is played for that round). Opposing may use "Cancel" option to prevent this.

*Non-generic Keywordless characters - Do not count toward qualifying for Theme bonuses (as per Bystanders)

*Team comprised of only Keywordless characters = Thematic

* Unless otherwise stated during Golden Age format will count duo figs as 2 for the purpose of counting towards keyword themes.

SETS:
*Ages - Sets applicable will be divided by Age: IC/Hyper onwards=Golden, Mutant Mayhem+Legacy (Icons/Universe Starter) onwards =Silver. Bronze = JL/AVengers (LOSH/Danger Room Starter) onwards. All tactics allowed in these Ages

Modern Age remains unchanged.

*Indy figures (i.e. Indy, CoH, CoV, Invincible,BPRD) and Horrorclix figures can be used regardless of Age or Universe restrictions for any tourney.

*Indy Figures special rule: Counts as theme if comprised of all Indy figures

*Horrorclix figures rules in Heroclix tourneys:
- Use the description on their character card for powers and abilities.
- Frenzy is reduced by damage-reducing Powers
- Can be given Feats that do not require specific powers.
- Combat symbols are treated as Heroclix equivalent
- Can Frenzy when KOs any figure (Place special token under to reflect)
- Do not count toward Keywords when in an army comprised of Heroclix
- Counts as themed if comprised solely of Horrorclix
- Do not automatically kill Bystanders when moved in square occupying them
- May use Scenario cards

- Force must have a Leader with at one of the following prerequisites:
- Standard or Special power anywhere on it's dial that benefits friendly characters (i.e. leadership, perplex, enhancement, support, defend, probability control, etc.). If the leader grants Minion powers, that will count.
- a beneficial TA (i.e. Police/Hydra, Superman Enemy, SHIELD, Titans/X-men, etc.)
- the Politician or Ruler keywords.


- 1 sub-leader who is no more than half of the Leader's point cost

- at least 4 generics (but can be as many as can be fitted in)

- Leaders are considered to have the "Vendetta" feat card against opposing leaders.

Note: if Worldwake pre-release hits, we'll skip this week and follow this same format.

Blackest Night Tourney (suggested only. anybody can put their two cents worth)

Backdrop: skip this if you're reading the series. In issue #6, Ganthet deputized 6 individuals to wield each rainbow ring (red, orange, etc) except green (ganthet himself). The deputized individual are to aid in the fight against the black lanterns. Those deputized were Mera (red), lex luthor (orange), scarecrow (yellow), barry allen (blue), ray palmer (indigo) and wonder woman (violet).

Format

500 pts Golden
Exactly 7 figures (including BT)
No generics.
Bystander tokens can be deputized.

Those deputized will be granted the following:

All deputized have the following:
Flight ability
Range of 8 (if range is LESS than 8)

RED ring grants:
We'll Burn You All (battlefury. red lanterns can use ranged attacks)
BATTLE RAGE (Red lantern can charge using his/her full movement)

ORANGE ring grants:
MINE! MINE! MINE! (Orange lantern can modify his/her combat value by +2 or -2)
I Want One!(Give Orange Lantern a power action, remove ANY object in his range and line of fire including any object being carried or blue special objects)

YELLOW ring grants:
Beware your fears made into light (Attacks made on Yellow lantern makes a single die roll, on a roll of 1 or 2 attack fails. Attacker gets one token and cannot redirect the attack)
Incapacitate

GREEN ring grants:
Shut Up and Light Up (Willpower)

BLUE ring grants:
I Have Been Chosen to Lift Up Those Who Need It (Blue Lantern can use perplex on ALL friendly targets within a range of 6)
All will be well (Support)

INDIGO ring grants:
Feel the pain you have brought (Replace Indigo-tribe damage value with targets Damage value)

VILOET ring grants:
Star Sapphire Crystal (Barrier. If the four barrier tokens are adjacent to the target. Give the target one or two tokens. The target takes NO pushing damage)
Love Conquers All (Mind Control)

- figures with names that are related to insects (Ex: Ambush Bug, Blue Beetle, Scorpion, etc.)

ATA:

Swoop: -1 Attack when using this TA. Give this character a power action. It can move up to its unmodified speed value, ignoring hindering terrain and characters on movement, and makes a close combat attack to an opposing figure. It can continue the rest of its movement after the attack is resolved. After resolving the action, this character is dealt one (1) unavoidable damage.

*All characters on your force w/ names related to grounded or aquatic animals or their respective LEs have the following team ability instead of any other TA:
Hunter: Give this character a power action. It can make a range combat attack and may copy the unmodified attack value of any figure on the map with the same TA. Characters with 0 range are treated to having an 8 range and 1 bolt when using this TA. After resolving the action, the target is dealt one (1) additional damage.

*All characters on your force w/ names related to insects or their respective LEs have the following team ability instead of any other TA:
Stinger: At the beginning of the turn, you can give this character a power action. Roll 1 d6, on a result of 1-2, put an action token to up to two opposing characters adjacent to this figure if those characters have zero or one action token. Apply pushing damage normally. On a result of 3-5, deal one penetrating damage to all opposing characters adjacent to this figure. On a result of 6, combine the two effects. magkaroon sana ng lower limit sa point value ng character. ever since na naimplement ito, ang nakikita ko lang na ginagamit ay hoes and medics. mukhang yung original intention ng ruling which is to see keywordless figs get playtime ay hindi rin nangayari. naabuse lang.

Updating the details of this tourney:

-Because we are using feats/bfcs (as per Harpua) this is actually GOLDEN AGE RULES but SETS are limited to MODERN age. Claro?

- For the benefit of players who have more limited choices: MINIMUM 5 FIGURES MAXIMUM OF 7

- NO DUPES malinaw only one allowed of the figure whether unique or not.

- ATCs Highlander Rule = can not be the same character NOT necessarily the same name. For example we have most Supermen as being good old Superman (or Regular Superman) including differently named like MAN OF STEEL; Superman Prime is NOT Regular Superman nor is Superman Robot or Black Lantern Kal-L (kasi japeyks). Therefore you can have Superman, E2 Superman(different character), KC Superman (also different character than regular Superman),Superman Prime, Kal-L and Superman Robot in the same team. What you can't have is B&B Superman, JL Superman, MoS, Icons Superman together. This also goes for Duo Characters: for example B&B Superman can't be with World's Finest or Superman/Flash :cool:

- Also considered legal for this tourney: Thanksgiving Turkey

- Prize: LE Green Lantern object
- Best Team: Amazon ATA

Yes, kapag modern age Avengers for Marvel and JL for DC ang start

Sa Golden/Silver Age pwede ang non-generic figures na walang keyword sa team tapos magiging thematic pa rin. Para silang bystanders. For example si Impossible Man pwede ilagay sa F4, Omega Red ilagay sa Weapon-X or mutant teams, Star Saphire sa Legion of Doom or mystical teams. Hindi na thematic yun team kung may mga generic figs na walang keyword like r/e/v/le con artist at v paramedic

Sa Feats/BFC, ang modern age hindi pwede gumamit ng feats/bfc (unless pumayag yun judge for the mentioned tourney), pero kung silver age Mutant Mayhem at Legacy and above ang bfc/feats. Kung golden age naman kahit anong feats/bfcs pwede basta nag-exist sa heroclix.

Admittedly, one of my early forays into gaming is through Magic the Gathering. But it was different back then (I started around the time of Ice Age). However, the quick rotations of sets ("What do you mean the cards I spent a fortune on aren't tourney legal anymore?"), imbalanced gameplay, "net-deckers" and waaay too expensive to remain competitive nature turned me off forever. It's also turned into a game that is completely unfriendly to newbies.

What keeps it popular is the large base of players compared to anything else out there. The older players either too invested into it that they can't let go or are just simply rabid fans. Either way, these older players influence the newer ones and the cycle goes on.

I respect the game for its influence and roots in the gaming hobby, but I would never promote it because of all of its faults. And, just like we always say when talking about Magic: "Isang mahal na Magic card, ilang magandang clix ang katumbas". (Jace, the mind sculptor for P3.5k??? Bili na lang ako ng chase!) :laugh:

"Silver Age" is a house rule I have at our venue. Sets included are Mutant Mayhem and Legacy onward (these are the sets where Feats and BFCs were introduced.). Feats (with the 10% cap on) and BFCs are allowed. Non-generic characters without a keyword are treated as bystanders (they don't add to the count for making a theme team but don't prevent it from being treated as thematic).

Exactly. Not to mention yung BIBTB Madrox. Lugi kasi talaga dito sa GSX pag tingi ang bilhin because of those damn super boosters. Talo ka by P200 at least (maybe more dahil a. mahal mga colossals, b. dahil sa LE Madrox na di makukuha at c. 1 per brick na duos). :disappointed:

@Als Depende sa players, bro. Pwede pa rin naman yung natitirang WoS at DC 75th but I'm sure everyone wants to grab GSX while meron pa. Kaso nga di inirerelease na tingi. In any case, mas matipid brick kung group ang kukuha since thats 40 standard figures 2-3 SRs, 1 chase, at 1 LE Madrox, and 1 colossal. Kung 4 ang maghahati, for example, lahat may LE/SR.

Ok, now that we have your attention, here's what you need to do:

Host an event at your Venue involving a GSX colossal on every team, photograph the players enjoying the event and photograph the event winner with his or her force. Submit photos to us for consideration (our contact info below) and we will post the photos in our "GSX Giant-Size Event" photo album. WK will choose one event winner at random who will win a Giant-Size X-Men Factory Set!

The clock starts ticking today (25 March 2011) and the contest closes 18 April 2011, so get going! We will announce the winner here on our Facebook on Monday, 25 April 2011.

What's a "GSX Giant-Size Event"? It's simple and you have two options:

(Sealed) Bring up to 600 points of Modern Age figures and purchase one (1) GSX super-booster. Using the contents of your super-booster and your selected figures, build the best 600 point Modern Age force you can.

-OR-

(Constructed) Bring a 600 point Modern Age force and be sure to include one (1) GSX Colossal.

See how easy that is?

Now, once you've held your event and taken your pictures, you can send them along (maximum of three pictures per entry please, so pick your best ones!) to wkcontest@gmail.com.
