made a boo-boo when i used the mjolnir on our last tourney for the ninjas(not this one).

Immobile Object. This object can't be destroyed. Once per game per character, give a character occupying the same square as this object a power action and roll a d6. This roll can't be rerolled or modified. On a result of 6, remove this object from the game and place it on that character's card. Modify that character's attack and damage values by +2, and that character can use Quake, Energy Explosion, and the Flight ability. If that character is KO'ed, place this object in the square that character last occupied."
Each character in the game can attempt to pick up Mjolnir just once lang pala. So pag palpak pala yung unang roll, then he isn't worthy! Buti na lang nung laban namin ni geoff, naging FlashThor kagad si Black Flash. hehehe. sorry about that guys.....

last round with Datu was a slambang match, ending with a one-on-one slugfest between Jean-Claude Van Damme Beaubier vs. THe Dark Knight. It was down to Batman needing 6 and missing a "down to 2 clix" JBeaubier and the bading speedster slapping a crit hit on the caped crusader for the W. yowza!!*ngiti*

the first time na ginamit ko, i got caught up with Lex/Brainy's transporter attack that i failed to abuse its duo ability (syempre first tym). I got good support naman with my 2 M11s and phalanx soldiers and end up naman good in the standings.
the second time, i ditched the thematic approach and decided to abuse the range duo ability by using 3 GCPDs, 1 doombot (enhancement and extra outwit c/o SE TA), a healer (diana prince) and added defense (gypsy). problema kasi nang aggreclixer, sugod kagad without setting up "the defense" (sinabi na nga ito ni marco pero hindi pa rin nakinig hehehe). ended up 2-1 which is not bad naman. Against geoff's team, my GCPDs were already set up giving Lex/Brainy an 8 AV via move/attack vs MMs 15 DV (less 3 from PD plus hindering terrain) and 7 damage to boot. First try was success. Geoff sacrificed a pog for PC. Next roll, i got 6. then it went downhill from there....
Overall, Lex/Brainy is good as what its support can provide. kelangan siguro ng secondary hitter to take some pressure off them. Sa susunod probably, lalo na kung modern age, try ko ulit.*ngiti*

ang nawawala ata yung first time na ginamit ko si lex/brainy (i remember nakalaban ko yung detective theme team mo w/ Spectre) and yung tourney recently lang with javi and marco (di ako kasali dito).
mga 2 games ata wala pa...wait na lang natin bk bc...ako kc kakakabit lang ulit ng internet namin kaya me nakakapag online ulit...he he he...c u guys next sat na lang...

Note: This team was a long time in the making. I had it on the works since the JL-Aquaman came out. It is primarily based on the AQUAMANs SP (Bril-Tac on FIGURES with the Dolphin Symbol). It also depends on the AQUALAD's SP (blocking on water terrain) and TEMPEST's SP (creates water terrain) that provides protection for the team against RANGE. Namor is the STUD, Namora does some carrying and serves as a back-up hitter. In hindsight, I should have excluded Cho. The high point game means that the OPPONENTS stud has FORTITUDE. Also, with that much water I couldn't maneuver him around.

BUT Namor and Aquaman haven't teamed up (i think)
Actually, they have sa JLA/Avengers where Arthur stops an army of Angry Atlanteans with a thought (including Marrina) but just gives Namor a splitting headache (thanks to Mr. Imperius Rex being a hybrid).

Dawg vs Tony. Difficult match-up for both players. The Defenders TA and the daisy chain formation makes it difficult for Tony's team to hit my team. Namor had difficulty attacking because of the THREE outwits in Tony's team. Toro and Torch couldn't hit their targets because of low attack (9) and Tony's TWO probs.
Per Degaton got his hands on poor Cho BUT Namor got to Future-Bats. Dawg wins.
Geoff vs Chris. Difficult match-up also. Geoff was a child beater by picking on Gee. Chris just got some POGS.
Round 2
Glenn vs Geoff. Dawg's Team got off a pulse wave (got Chill) and EE (got Val and Kyle) to dust off some POGS. BUT Dawg's team biggest advantage was winning the MAP roll, allowing the use of the BPRD (water) map. This prevented Supes-Flash from making attacks. Again LOTS of positioning. The All-Winner's squad only got to GL. The JLA got to ONE Human Torch and Cho (poor boy)
Chris vs Tony. Chris got to ALMOST every one except BATS.

Chris vs Dawg. Chris had FITS trying to break the Defender's daisy chain and unfortunately got massacred.

you're right, rusty pa talaga! this is my first game since last july pa ata. anyway, two things that got my team screwed up sa game natin, placement of my disruptor and as what you've said, choosing hawkeye over namor. but man, that nightcrawler is really N-A-S-T-Y!! 1 turn kill si hawkeye after na-kidnap. i think i was going for "testing muna kung gagana" mode here. hehehe.....i didn't even got to use bullseye's SP on both games. makes me wonder kung sana penetrating blast na lang nilagay kahit sa first click lang. baka bumaba pa points nya (at naging lalong deadly..hmmmm)...may halong swerte din si namor rolling at least an 8 three times vs bullseye (because of my team PCs) and to roll a crit hit on the last roll! but well, like they say mon, them da breaks....medyo kinakapa ko pa nung first round. kaya tignan mo naman nung last round, parang maguindanao massacre nangyari sa mga reporters. hehehe......for the record, 2-1 din naman ako bye lang first round........next time, baka sakaling ma-perfect ko na.*ngiti*

I would have kidnapped namor - but then again, you know how reckless i am :laugh:. Bullseye with a light object would have put him on his 3rd click. Then diana zubiri prince could do more damage, then question could have outwitted his flurry. Risky but if it works, you nerf his team big time.

a booster with no range attacker = fail for me (my pulls = C Wolverine, Ch'od, SR Wolverine, Gideon, Hellfire Club Guard). buti na lang may SR! hehehe. i also forgot to use SR Wolvie trait against Al and Geoff's team. oh well....

as for my army. well, i only brought 150 points for the original format. with the change, i just borrowed namor and one of the spidey from datu. went with something familiar na lang. pero yes, it's cheese. Flurry kasi ang theme ko. HE HE HE.

Mahina peanut Cap sa melee. Madaling ideny yung Shield sa kanya once it leaves his hands. Get past the first click of 18 toughness, easy kill na.
Steve Rogers is very good sa range game, particularly kung may SHIELD to boost range or damage. Pinoint ko kay Datu na di nya ginagamit yung bonus TA pag katabi si Steve; madali kasi malimutan eh. Hehehe!
New Nick Fury is not as good as Spymaster from SI despite having a higher cost. Taking away tokens at end for moving not so good if you don't have cheap grunts. :cool:
Bawi ako this coming Sunday kung merong laro. Nakaka 2 boosters pa lang ako, so I can definitely go for sealed.

- Al's Mindless horde put Dawg's X-Men team in a Black Hole (or Krakoa Map, that is.....) FTW! Doesn't help that Dawg keep rolling those 4's....
- Datu vs. Ecchs: got bored inside the Fenris Airport and decided to take the fight outside the parking lot. It was Juggercap/Falcon/Namor vs. Batrocnaut (success this time)/Bullseye/The Question. It ended with only Juggercap and Bullseye left standing as time ran out.

- Battle of the photocopiers: sadly for Khim, the Mindless Ones didn't mind at all slugging out with the Madroxes.....
- Dawg vs Ecchs: NC got the upperhand right away, wanting to bring Robin to an X-party (I had to spend my 2 theme PCs just to prevent that). Batroc's turn to be the party pooper by being "Juggernized" again and hitting Cyke for 5. Wolvie put a stop to Batroc ze Leaper's weird accent. Bullseye got the opening and shot NC for 4. The game turned to a semi-brawl when all of the Karateka's decided to crash the party and won the dance (but had to endure frst watching the X-Men play doctor quack quack with each other......)

Since there were ONLY three players (John passsed by pero may DATE. he he). THREESOME yung laro.
For those unfamiliar, ATC threesome are played this way.
BIG MAP is with FOUR starting area is used.
Dice is ROLLED to determine player to be ATTACKed. (e.g. 1-2 Dawg, 3-4 Datu, 5-6 Geoff).
If I roll my number (1,2), I can attack either Geoff or Datu OR Both. Otherwise, I can only attack the player whose number I rolled.

Geoff leaned on the strength of Phylla Vell and the fact that the GotG are Unouwittable. Also, a slew of PROB.
Datu used the Daisy Chain defense of Human Torch to share the 18 DEf of Thinker.
The Mystics were warbounded. Were relentless attacker.
NO TEAM was decimated early or immediately. But a majority of the rolls early on were directed at Dawg and Datu. Early casualties were Scarlet Witch of the Mystics, Doombots of the Robots and Rocket Racoon of the GotG.
The low defense of Karima and Mancha (both 16) proved difficult for the robots to withstand. The constant pounding crushed Mancha and Karima was only able to survive because of the X-Men TA.
HAve you seen an unlucky CRITICAL hit?? Team GotG made one. With one of the shazam on its third click (Invul), Phylla Vell hit him for FOUR damage BUT with the Crit Hit it becomes FIVE. Landing Shazam on its Hss/SS/imperv/outwit (6th click) proving beneficial to the mystics. With an added outwit, Detective chimp was able to push to its SUPER PERPLEX (+2) White power. Making the Shazam attacks hard to miss.
The Warbound feat prove to be a winner, making the useless figs Alchemy with no TK and Question without Prob/Perplex still VERY useful.
Team mystic was able to bring home LE Deadpool!

Datu's Scientist Team - CA Klaw, CA Fixer, GSX Prof X, 3 WOS Researchers, SO: Mjolnir
Chris' Team - Maelstrom, Phyla-Vell, AA:Question
Highlights:
At the early parts of the game, Fixer gets a Mjolnir adding to the offense of Klaw and Prof X w/ Researchers. Klaw and Prof X just kept on Psychic Blasting and Pulse Waving anyone who stands on their paths (or in Prof X case, line of fire). However due to the good momentum of Maelstrom, landing on his best click and with help from The GL Corps, The Scientist Team was first eliminated.
Mealstrom was also able to receive a lot of healing due to his powers. However it wasn't enough for him to beat the GL Corps. "The Greatest Lantern of all" gave the final blow to Maelstrom using Exploit Weakness and with assistance from Salaak's Brilliant Tact.
Winner: The player who had the The GL Corps... And his name IS NOT Darkjacen hahahaha :)
Second Game: 300 pts, Golden Age
Datu's Avengers - CA Rare Captain America, CA Falcon, CA Invisible Woman, Night Nurse
Chris' Team - Zenhattan, Researcher, rookie Con Artist
Kim's JLI Team - WL Ice, Cookie Martian Manhunter, SO: Scorpio Key
Highlights:
Though WL Ice got the Scorpio Key, she was not able to defend herself against the Avengers. Martian Manhunter was no match for Dr Manhattan. The JLI team was the first (and easily) to be eliminated.
Zenhattan's friends were easily KOed (Con Artist and Researcher), but He became a one man army being so hard to damage due to his Probability Control, Impervious, and Super Senses. This Zenhattan showed a never say die attitude.
Invisible Woman took the Scorpio Key which made her ignore Zenhattan's Imperv, while Cap and Falcon relentlessly made their attacks. Zenhattan took Cap to his last clicks, but Cap broke away and was healed by Night Nurse. Whatever damage Zenhattan gave became nothing when Night Nurse healed Cap up to his first click. Though Zenhattan showed a lot of Heart, The Avengers were too much for him.
Winner: IMHO the best player of a CA Rare Cap, Datu

Kim's Symbiote Team - WOS Venom, WOS Toxin, 3 WOS Symbiotes
Highlights:
The SHIELD Team were like pest exterminators to the Symbiotes. Gamora beats Venom and Toxin all by herself. The tandem of Stevie Nicks (Steve and Nick) outwitted the Super-Skrull. However Gamora is still in full health so is Sargon and Montoya, they made sure the Super-Skrull would not be outwitted again. Steve attacked Gamora followed by another attack from Fury, but it wasn't enough to KO Gamora. With the Skrull having Charge and Super Strength and Q having Willpower, Nick Fury was left alone and took a gang attack from the faceless detective, underrated sorcerer, deadliest woman in the galaxy, and the Skrull.

i agree. maybe i need to tweak the battle report sheet to accomodate that:)
Game 1 vs Geoff:
Lost initiative, Geoff chose "The Bridge". I got to contain Vulcan atop one of the elevated terrain when i outwitted his flight ability and positioned 2 M11s downstairs.
Game 2 vs Datu:
Lost initiative again, Datu chose Hawkworld map. Didn't affect my team that much. Only had 1 M11's tushy burn for 1 damage when Solovar TK'ed him to one of the orange squares.
Game 3 vs Chris:
Won initiative, chose Ferris Airport map. The indoor terrain part of the map is great against Chris' army. Thanos can't get a decent shot at my team right away even with TK.;) Gamora went in first hitting 1 of my M11s, but got KOed right away before Thanos could help.
Game 4 vs Glenn:

Game 1 vs Khim
Khim won initiative and used GRAVEYARD. Khim's SHIELD Team is anchored on Smoky Cap and a couple of stealth figs (Fury & Widow). CAP got his licks in and deals DAMAGE to both Spidey and Deadman. Cap KOs Deadman but took a FEW clicks of damage (Mystic TA). WL Sinestro SHOOTS non-stealths and destroys them (CAP & 3 Mandroid), then comes in close and DEALS damage up close to stealth.
Game 2 vs Nathan (Conde v2.0)
Won map. CHose BPRD (just for the heck of it). Sinestro SHOOTS the Spideys BUT got into trouble with Venom with Mystic TBolt. Deadman's WP saved the day by pulling Sinestro from trouble. Sinestro gets healed and finishes the Spideys
Game 3 vs Datu
Datu chooses Hawkworld map. Sinestro picks apart the animal team after getting lucky with the T-Rex. Would have lost if Datu got to Spiderman (on its last click)
Game 4 vs Ecchs (Conde v1.0)
Made tactical mistake by bringing Deadman into the fray. Lose ability to pull Sinestro out of trouble. You make a mistake, Ecchs is going to exploit it.

Here's mine...
game 1 vs. datu
Loss initiative and datu chose Hawkworld map. Got totally screwed on this game and Datu's animalistic appeal ate my entire force. But heck, I learned so much after.
game 2 vs. nico
Again, loss map and nico got to chose an outdoor map. With my problems with LOS, i was happy with the map. Black Adam/Shazam duo got the brunt of the attacks of Green Lantern, Flash and Guy Gardner but thanks to tons of PC, most of the attacks that came their way missed. I managed to hit Green Lantern but failed to kill him. With time running out, nico saw my pog, franklin richards sitting at my starting area. He moved in for the kill but ecchs shouted LAST ACTION. ehehehe...ended in a roll off...nico won...
game 3 vs. geof
Won map (yey! first time!) i chose my one and only map, graveyard. Geof was running a shiar theme team and he camped near his Eleha'al Vine. Congorilla even picked up a Crimson Gem (yikes!). Vulcan got his range perplexed and used HSS to put Scarlet Witch on her last click. I moved Black Adam/Shazam duo on the telephone booth and since I'm using Black Adam first, I pushed him on his second click to use HSS and kill one of Vulcan's shiar minions. Since Scarlet Witch was on her last click, I decided to heal her using paramedic. And lo and behold, she was healed back up to full! I made a mistake of clearing Black Adam/Shazam instead of pushing to attack one more minion and getting out of Vulcan's HSS range. Geof positioned Vulcan to attack without my PC being a factor but he missed! Then he used his theme PC to re-roll and missed again! Whew! Won by 27 points...that was close...
game 4 vs. ramil
Ramil won map and chose a horrorclix temple map. Full of water. Crap. Ramil decided to attack Black Adam/Shazam duo with Iron Man but he missed. Iron Man was open for an attack with Black Adam/Shazam carrying a heavy object. Iron Man got hit and even got knocked back. My mistake was not following Iron Man with my remaing HSS move. Got to knock out Ramil's Cap though and also made Spidey crit missed with a PC when he attacked Jason Blood in my starting area. Won by 115 points.
Hindsight? A LOT. I forgot tons of things. I'm happy with my force and I'll be practicing with this list more since I made lots of mistakes and since it's obvious I love BLACK ADAM. ahahaha!

The Booster
I pulled Ursa, Sun Boy, Non. Kryptonian Soldier, Super Girl.
There was THREE possible pairings that I considered. All thematic. Super Girl (200) and Sun Boy [LoSH theme], Super girl (200) and Kryp-Soldier [Kryptonian] and Ursa-Non [Phantom Zone]. In the end I liked the balance of Ursa-Non.
round-by-round
Round 1 vs Tim
easiest matchup for me. Tim is the least experienced player in ATC. still in the process of learning the game. It's a pity, he had good pieces Ursa (RS-PsyBlast) with Superboy (TK-Perplex).
Round 2 vs Ecchs
I was trying to avoid this match up. Ecchs was playing with Supes-common and Steel. By my estimation he had the advantage in pieces. Both Supes and Steel had Outwit and the Superman TA.
Veteran players know that most game hinges on a "Moment" where the entire game is on the line on a single attack. The "moment' in this game occurred on the second turn. Ecchs made a mistake in missing out on outwitting my figs. In turn I was given a chance to get supes. Ursa RS-PsyBlast on Supes. We both knew the game hinged on that attack. Ecchs used up both his team prob and I used one of mine. I got SUPES, the TWO TIME Nat Champs wasn't able to recover.
Round 3 vs Datu
i was sitting beside Datu when he opened his booster, he was complaining about his pulls lack of firepower. To my surprise, he was 2-0 with what could be considered a weak army. But Datu is a vet, so not really surprising. He had TWO outwitters, and TWO perplexers plus a cheap HSS. I couldn't charge in because he could fully use all those support fig. I waited for the Lucy Lane to come out, when she did BANG. Ursa comes shooting. I had Non dive into his army so he couldnt shoot at Ursa. He was able to KO Non but after losing his PERPLEXERs he couldnt CRACK Ursa's Invul. Game over. But a lot of funny stuff happened after I GOT the advantage; crit misses and bad misses galore.
Round 4 vs Ramil (whoo. good thing this is 300 pts and sealed. games are shorter otherwise I would be dead tired at this point)
Tried to take out B5 first so he'd lose the Outwit-Plex-Prob combo. I had this complex manuever to take out B5. Ramil had Ursa based with hope and B5 outwitted Non's charge. Ursa breakaway-RS on Hope. Ursa lands beside Non. Superman Enemy TA to outwit B5's outwit. Non charges B5, need 4 to hit. I rolled Crit Miss. HA HA HA. So on his turn, B5 outwit Non's Imperv and Kal charges. Gladly, Kal misses. After taking out B5 (with Ursa), I simply ganged up on Kal.
Terrific synergy between the Phantom Zone duo. Makes me want to look for Gen Zod.

We got 4 Superman boosters and no SRs. Red kryptonite was mixed in with the draft prizes so no best team winner (argh!). First three picks were Manhunter Grandmaster (me), Cyborg Superman (tsuruchijo) and Red Kryptonite (blackdatu).

Round 1 vs maniladawg
I won the initiative roll and chose the Arkham Asylum map. The match that I should have lost but won due to lucky dice rolls. I didn't have much experience fighting against Superman enemies, so didn't really know how potent the Team Ability was. I ended up overexposing both my Supermen, with the first getting crippled by a Psychic Blast from Ursa and the second getting trashed by both Supergirls after his Impervious was Outwitted. Both Supes were out and dawg still had all four, with a weakened Non and Ursa. One of the Johnnys managed to KO Ursa, and in desperation I tied up the Supergirls with Peter Parker. Lucky Super Sense rolls kept most of my team alive while the Johnnys took out maniladawg's team one by one. At the end of the match, one Parker and both Quicks were still standing.
Round 2 vs Setzer Kail
I won initiative roll and again chose the Arkham Asylum map. Moved a 20 DEF Superman forward as bait and managed to reel Cyborg Superman in, who folded after attacks from two Supermen. Classic Supes and a fully powered Supergirl finished one of my Supermen. My remaining Superman managed to tag and kill off Supergirl with the help of some Parker tie-up (hmm, Parker's really getting his way with Supergirl) and Johnny Quick run-ins. Quentin Turnbull bit the dust after consecutive Johnny Quick attacks and classic Superman eventually got KOed despite bringing my Superman down to click 9 - his last HSS click. Won with everyone except one Superman still standing.
Round 3 vs tsuruchijo
Again, I won the initiative roll. Seeing a 150 point Superman and a Barry Allen on the opposing team made me choose the Bridge (WoS map) to expose Barry Allen to Outwit, he's got a lot of HSS clicks and I was preparing for the possibility of losing my Outwits. Got the first strike on Steel, removing his Outwit, then proceeded to use my remaining Outwit to neutralize the opposing Superman. I hit Mr. Fantastic with an object to remove his super-Perplex, but this left my second Superman wide open to an attack from opposing Supes, luckily I hit the Impervious roll, shrugging off all damage. This was crucial as my Supermen remained on their Outwit clicks. Took out opposing Supes in one hit with help from a heavy object and some Perplex. Won with everyone except for one Johnny Quick intact.
Round 4 vs blackdatu
Can't believe that I won all of my initiative rolls. Makes me wonder if the theme team rules need to be revised again - I think it's much easier to put a lot of figures in a generic themed team than a named theme team. Chose the Asylum map again. Turning point came early as blackdatu rushed my exposed Superman with 200 point Supergirl with a Foom Finger. Forgot if I hit Impervious or if he missed - we used one theme PC each just for this attack. The failed attack left his Supergirl wide open for both my Supermen, who made quick work of her. It was downhill from there for datu as my Supermen remained on their top clicks.
Conclusions? The common Superman is really a handful, but he's quite vulnerable to Outwit. I got overconfident, knowing that Supes could Outwit any opposing Outwit anyway, and I almost lost the first match because of that. Also, walls are flimsy and don't really make for good protection. My opponents probably know how paranoid I am of low dice rolls - I frequently used the Perplexes to boost Supes attack to 13 or even 14 once rather than add it to the Damage values for a quicker kill. I'm not much of a gambler, I guess :D

Al's account of this game is good but he's selling imself short. He had a very good team. Even if I had the initial advantage. He was able to finish the game, a well deserved win.
Round 2 vs Datu

Tim is still learning the game. So this is a massacre. No details for gentlemanly reason. Ha ha.
Round 4 vs Olats
Got lucky here early. Ursa took a pot shot at Imperiex. The only reason I took the shot is to reposition Ursa and Non to outwit the ESD of the sentinel. So the S-Girl could clobber the sentinel. But Ursa made the shot, knocking FOUR clicks early. HA HA HA
The DRAFT was good not excellent (no SR), the common and uncommons were being taken EARLIER than the rares.

Round 1 vs. jojo
Won initiative and I chose the asylum map. Using a new team and my first game. Bad positioning, bad dice roll and I got massacred by jojo this week. 1st game is kind of a bane for me in ATC. Always a massacre. Damn.
Round 2 vs. tim
Again, I won initiative and chose the asylum map. But all of my hitters are decorations because of kid zoom. And this kid is aggressive. Good rolls plus pushing pieces killed my superman. Oh and don’t forget the damn super senses rolls made by kid zoom and batman beyond. It was enough to delay me for two rounds before killing kid zoom, therefore delaying my kill of batman beyond when nightcrawler was starting to rampage around the map. Tim got superman, howard the duck and roulette. I only got kid zoom. Lost this round.
Round 3 vs. olats
Won initiative and of course, chose asylum map. This time I was getting the hang of my team and getting used to positioning my pieces. Up against Imperiex and I was planning to pull him to the killbox and start witling him down. But Imperiex outwitted NC’s special power so no luck with that one. Pulled everybody back during my turn. First kill I got was Adaptoid with common supes busting him with a heavy object. Next kill I got was sentinel and doombot 5953. I only managed to do the killbox thing with the doombot. Won this round only losing roulette via a seething Imperiex. Oh and by the way, those drills Imperiex uses are annoying! Forcing me to move some of my support pieces avoiding that penetrating damage!
Round 4 vs. ramil
Me and ramil again for the last game! This is my chance to redeem myself from my mistakes since our last match! But that common supes at 300 is scary! This time I got my positioning right, used the killbox strategy, pulling Nick Fury first and taking him down, then superboy and then the common supes. Won this round.
Hindsight? I won every initiative! Ahahaha! At last! Using Asylum map to take advantage of NC’s trait of moving around ignoring terrain. Forgot to use carry by the common supes, superboy and NC, completely relying on TK by Gee and superboy. Plus bad positioning most of the time. So, more things to learn and execute next time around. And! I need to get that game 1 curse out of my system!

Not necessarily. I'd say Anti-matter Map and Legion HQ is actually better for HSS heavy teams since the middle area has blocking terrain. It does offer a lot of hiding places against shooters. Too gay for my tastes, though, hahaha! :p

Corrections: Javeyx NOT Javi, Javi IS Insulares.
The Army
Funny, everyone was concern/aware with Aquaman's trait Flood the Land and WP Undeground Geyser, because that wasn't his best POWER. His other trait however is what makes the Atlantis team formidable.
INVADE THE SURFACE: After an action resolves in which Aquaman moves due to his own action, you may give any number of other friendly characters possessing "dolphin speed symbol" or "transporter dolphin speed symbol" a free action to move up to three squares if they currently occupy water terrain.
This TRAIT allows for ALL my pieces to move THREE spaces for FREE. Making Namor and the Atl Warriors CHARGING distance effectively EIGHT. OF COURSE, the big caveat is that they should be in WATER TERRAIN. Which means ONE thing, I need to win the INITIATIVE roll to PICK the MAP(BPRD map is the BEST choice but if you DONT have it the Bridge Map is also good). That's WHY the Atlantean Warriors are the NEXT most important figure to Aquaman NOT Namor. The Atl Warriors gives me an EDGE on the Initiative allowing me to use the BPRD map.
Game 1 vs Nico
Prof X of GSX is REALLY annoying. I hate Prof X "In Contact With Cerebro" trait. Almost got my Aquaman through Cable LE. Fortunately, the Atlantis team has the Atlantis ATA and Cable was shooting through hindering terrain, so Emperor Aquaman had 20 def even if they got his Invul away.
Aquaman and the Atlantean Warriors swarmed Cable and Cannonball, while I sent Namor to deal with Prof X and the Cyphers. Ocean Master and Mera stayed put for TK and Prob purposes on both Namor and Aquaman. Cannonball got KOd but Cable got away when he turned in to Supes. Namor bithced slap both Cyphers. Time run out.
Game 2 vs Khim
Kim was the FIRST of THREE straight Metro-Team I had to face. The most memorable part is when LUTHOR got brutalized. TWO Atlantean warriors charged at Luthor bringing him to his SUPERMAN clicks BUT with Emperor Aquaman's CHARGE/EXPLOIT, Luthor NEVER got to FLY.
Also, Kim brought his SUPERMAN #55 front and center WHICH was good STRATEGY. I guess Kim wanted me to hit this SUPERMAN to put it on its better dials (HSS/RCE) OR outright kill it (to trigger ROS for his Erad & Superboy). Fortunately, I just had it land on its WEAKER mid dials and just tied it up with an Atl warrior. Namor was able to track Superboy and KO it.
Game 3 vs Datu
Datu ALSO had a Metro-Team, but in this case I had a different strategy. Supes-Common was an incredible THREAT as much as I hated triggering the ROS trait there was no choice. I has to deal with Supes-Common first and foremost. I did have the firepower to deal with the TWO supes. I TKed Aquaman and then charge/exploit, reducing the first supes to a neutered click. With Emp Aquaman charging, the rest of the team got the FREE move putting Namor within CHARGING distance of the second Supes. Charge/flurry eliminated the second supes.
Both Atlantis King pushed on the NEXT turn to eliminate the first Supes and Steel. Superboy and Lucy got their licks in on my Pair King. At this point I pulled back so I can regroup. Mera was able to pick up the Gem of Cy and finished of Superboy.
Game 4 vs Jojo
Yet another Metro-Team, but Jojo only had ONE supes to trigger RoS. So, my first move was to NEUTER Supes-Common then eliminate Steel (for Points to be ahead) but his Erad Psy-blast got thorugh Aquaman and both his Cy-Supes and Erad was connecting with shape change frustating Namor.
When Eradicator KOd my Aquaman, I had Ocean Master and an Atl Warrior eliminate Superman. While Cy-Supes was beating up on Namor, I had Ocean Master and an Atl warrior chase down and KO the Intergang underboss. Cy-supes was then able to KO Namor BUT my Atlantean Warriors was already beating up on Eradicator. Time up. Beat Jojo by 19 pts. He he
Game 1 vs ArKhIM Asylum
Won the initiative roll and map choice. I wasted it by choosing the Graveyard - I thought that the superior ranges of Enchantress and Karnilla would best the middling ranges of the newer figures. Bad decision. Another bad decision was finishing E1 Supes off, thought that would put me at an advantage but that just triggered the "Reign" powers. Time ran out, I still had figures remaining but Kim was ahead so I lost. Also, I'd like to note that Karnilla tried to pick up the Scorpio key and failed.
Game 2 vs tsuruchijo
Lost the initiative roll. Jojo chose Krakoa, which didn't really worry me at first since most of my figures had damage reducers. This turned out to be a great choice as I did not have any fliers, making it harder for my close combat figures to chase after the Supermen. This was also the game when I realized I was playing the Asgardians incorrectly - but it was too late. Managed to take Steel and Eradicator out, but when time ran out, Jojo was still ahead on points. I got frustrated with my dice this game, changing pairs at least 3 times. BTW I deserve to lose this game, I had Volstagg pick up a light object without realizing that the Fast Forces version didn't have Super Strength. Sorry about that :/ Karnilla tried to pick up the Scorpio key and failed.
Game 3 vs Supermanally777
Won the initiative roll against a nonthematic team. Wasted it because I forgot the best map that I have for the Asgardians at home. Ended up choosing the best I could do - the Prison, which should have been okay if it weren't for the Drills. Finally played the Asgardians right, but lucky Impervious rolls (I hit Imperiex 3-4 times and he made all of the rolls) and a max heal on Doom (a 6!) kept this game out of my reach. Karnilla tried to pick up the Scorpio key and failed.
Game 4 vs OLATS
Lost the initiative roll. Randell did not have any maps with him so he borrowed one of mine - the Crash site. By this point, I'm already used to the Asgardians but still made the mistake of relying on the Enchantress' Mastermind (I didn't realize I was playing the Toys R Us Sentinels at first, exposing the Enchantress (hmmmm) to their Outwit. Enchantress went down, but the Sentinels followed suit soon after. I had two critical hits even though I honestly didn't need high rolls due to the Warriors Three plus to attack, but these definitely helped. Finally started hitting the 8s that I was missing all day. Wiped the robots out, giving me at least one win this time. Karnilla tried to pick up the Scorpio key and FAILED. FAILED FAILED FAILED.
So, what did I learn?
- The Enchantress is not the central piece of this team. She is an expensive (almost 1/4 of the build total!) support figure. I got enchanted by her 10 range and more powerful Mind Control, can you blame me?
- I lost faith in the Scorpio Key (and the Crimson Gem for that matter). How many actions did I waste that day? 8 total (1 to TK Karnilla and 1 for the power action in all 4 games) and I had a 0% success rate. I know how to use these blasted objects now.
- I have both the SR Volstagg and the Fast Forces Volstagg. I opted for the Fast Forces one because it allowed room for 5 points (I could've used the Gem, or one of the kryptonites) and he ain't a bad replacement. Sure, the SR has super strength, a longer dial, more damage potential and high attack values for just three points but FF Volstagg starts with a click of Charge and has that handy SP that puts him at 17 Impervious. If you don't have the SR, FF Volstagg is not a bad replacement. I have to admit though, had I known that the Scorpio key would be completely useless to me, I would've left it out and just spent the extra 3 points on the SR.

It should be treated as a "nice if it works" but don't put key pieces to use an action there. Use a generic or tactical piece (outwit, perplex, PC) to try and pick it up.
Fail? No biggie.
Succeed. Now you have a Thunder Boss (Mjolnir+Intergang Underboss) or a Jugger-b*tch (Cyttorak+Con Artist) :cool:

Game 1: vs Datu
Lost initiative roll by 1 point. Datu picked the Krakoa Map. Both rolled lots of 4's. No contest.
Initially, the two superoonies were contently having a mini-contest on who can pick up the scorpio key first, while my team's life get's slowly whittled away by the Krakoa. Decided to just come closer and end their misery right away (felt like those stray animals that were "put to sleep":cry::sleep:). Got one superman down to his third click in the process. yey.:) In Datu’s defense, he was still in the process of positioning his figures for clear shots. Gotcha.
Game 2: vs Nico
Won initiative and chose the Ferris Airport map (my current fave. sorry Arkham Asylum map.:)) Nico chose Batman Enemy TA to copy for his team (via Cypher's power). Parked my bats just inside the entrance side of the map to act as blocking terrain (both have League of Assassins). Nico went closer with Cable, Warpath and Cannonball. Against Cable, Capwolf rolled 6 for his BCF but Nico wisely used the New Mutants ATA to pass it to another figure. Melee ensued with my bats, Capwolfie and Falcon getting poisoned by Elixir (damn those low rolls against Elixir, can't even bi*chslap the kid (Elixir, not Nico. hehehe....), Noh-Varr taking potshots at the remaining hulked-up Cypher while Monkey Joe and Redwing taking turns harrassing Prof. X. Prof. X was able to hit MJ twice but MJ kept on evading the damage via SS.:laugh: MJ even managed to give Prof X a bit of his rabies. After my crew finished the job indoors (losing one bat and Falcon in the process), they went outside and ganged up on Prof. X.
Game 3: vs Randell
Won initiative and chose the airport map again. Was able to manuever close to his team. Randell got the worse end with continuous misses against my team. Since he’s still a rookie, at one point I told him to target two figures to maximize his attacks but alas, he never got to seriously dent my "rabies" army because of poor rolls (lots of 4 and 5!) . Saving grace was his Adaptoid kept on Shape Changing against Wolfsbane and Capwolf’s attacks (aaargh!) stymied their movement in the process. Managed to eliminate 1 Mark II and 1 Mark V sentinels (TRUs) while he KO’ed my Falcon and 1 Bat. Malakas yung team ni Randell, malas lang talaga....
Game 4: vs Nathan
Need to forfeit the last game because I was really exhausted from playing and alternately judging the tourney. Javi was too (asked to get the Bye for the final round). Guess we’re not built for high point, 4 rounders anymore, right Javi? Hehehe……..

Yes, sadly. But I realize now that I wouldn't change anything since having 10 regular players is a great thing. I hope it continues. That said, I may be playing twice a month na lang just so I can store up the energy :laugh: and to spend time with family.
We just need to have some faster 300-400 point games in between the big 500+ games to pace ourselves. We could also have a once-a-month pure universe format (alternate between Marvel and DC) for fun.

Round 1
My first match was with Kim and he used Cosmic Spider-Man and two Gees. I won the initiative roll and chose Krakoa for two reasons (1) to get some good rolls to kill off the Gees and (2) to avoid any walls that would hinder my team from getting close to Cosmic Spidey. Even before Kim's first turn I had rolled a 4, taking both Gees off of their TK clicks. Another roll of 4 took both Gees down another click, not allowing Kim to push one Gee to death to heal the other to his TK click. Outwitting Spidey's flight made it hard for Kim to maneuver Spidey around, and the Green Kryptonite held by Volstagg helped make it harder for Cosmic Spidey to hit. Used up all my theme PCs for defense. Turning point was when he pushed Cosmic Spidey, allowing me to move Sif and push the next turn for an Exploit Weakness + heavy object attack. Needed an 8 to hit, and hit it.
Round 2
My second match was with RJ. He used a non-thematic ProfCrawler team with a Researcher trio, JJJ and cypher for Perplex, and Roulette for Prob Control. I won the initiative roll and again chose Krakoa. Got tempted to play defensively and force RJ to over-extend his Nightcrawler since Prof X and the Researchers will probably stay in the starting area, but that's really not the ATC way so I instead moved my team in the middle of the map. I was too complacent, waiting for Krakoa to do some damage before taking the offensive, which allowed RJ to Crawl-nap Fandral (the Green Kryptonite helped me avoid the first crawl-nap attempt). I made my move, attacking his starting area full force. We didn't get a Krakoa 4 roll until well into the match, but that still helped take Nightcrawler off his HSS clicks. Time was called and Fandral was KO'ed, I KO'ed enough of RJ's team to win but not enough to place higher.
Round 3
My last match was with maniladawg's Avengers team of Dr. Strange, Namor and two Spider-men. I won initiative again and again chose Krakoa, which was fine but I was dangerously relying on rolls of 4 on the map. This time, I know I should have played defensively and forced dawg out of the water, but I became too aggressive and charged Sif and Hogun in. Dr. Strange's all-seeing Outwit made Volstagg drop the green Kryptonite and Namor took Sif out in one flurry + heavy object attack. Hogun got stuck in the water, and that made it easy for dawg to pick off my team one by one. Late Krakoa 4 rolls resulted in Spidey KOs, but it was too late and when time was called I lost. In hindsight, I think a map full of walls would have been better suited for my team. The walls would've allowed me to protect Volstagg from Dr. Strange's Outwit, and may have helped make Namor miss his initial attacks (he'd be down to a 10 ATK against my defenses of 18). Or again, I could've forced him out of the water and ganged up on Namor all at once, rather than send only half of my forces in.
I ended up at 4th place despite having a 2-1 record because of points, but I was happy with the synergy between the Green Kryptonite and the Asgardians. It helped defensively, acting like a -1 Perplex to ATK within a 9 square area at a cost of just 5 points, making it harder for my opponents to hit. Can't wait to find strategic uses for the other Kryptonite types.

Rnd 1 VS. Eman (supergirl x2, kid zoom) in Latveria Map
>forcefields work in my favor. forced Eman to do a 180 deg. around the map. Maelstrom told me to avoid 2 consecutive Supergirl Running Shots because it will be bad for his health. The Question got vaporized but was able to kill one Supergirl, (1 healing for Mael!) the other pushed herself to death. Kid Zoom was able to bring Cypher to his Warlock click, but when my turn to attack came, Cypher got a critical miss!!!!
Rnd 2 VS. maniladawg (supergirl x2 and brainiac 5 LOSH) in watery map i never seen before
>same tactic. avoid 2 consecutive Supergirl attacks coz that will hurt. Brainiac PC worked wonders for 'dawg and did tactical-suicidal pushes to the Supergirls to hurt Maelstrom. Mael was finally killed by Exploit Weakness.
Rnd 3 VS. black king (superman, ice, gee, jason blood, nurse) in Latveria Map
>Cypher copied Mystics. forced his team to move sideways thanks to the forcefields. Cypher got killed. Superman got TKd and HSSd Maelstrom with a Heavy Obj for major hurt. one more attack from Superman would have killed Mael but did his SOOPER IMPERVIOUS Roll that deals 1 unpreventable damage to Supes. Mael killed things and heals back to his 'safe' clicks. The Question killed the Nurse.

Great game for returning players OLATS and Superman Ally 777.

Round 1 vs Jojo's BN GL and Gotg
Highlights
- Jojo won the initiative and he chose the WOS map. In the first turn he moved both GL and Gotg to the middle of the map. GL stayed behind Gotg, while the Smurf outwitted Gee's Tk. He's done
- With no Tk in the first turn, Kim's Lightspeed carried and placed Bagman in front of Gotg. Jason Blood was placed in a square with diagonal LOF to the Gotg. Kim's done.
- In the 2nd turn Jojo used outwit on Blood's PC then passed all of his figs.
- Now with Tk, Gee uses it move Thing. Thing uses his speed SP to GL. It's 10 AV vs 17 DV and The Thing misses.
-In Jojo's 3rd turn Gotg outwits The Thing's defense powers. Both GL and the Smurf brought the thing to his last clicks.
- Bagman leap/climbs to GL. The next turn, Bagman damages GL with a heavy object. However GL heals himself using his Green Willpower SP.
- Jojo finishes the Thing 1st. Next was Gee and Lightspeed, which was easy since they only have 4 clicks. Then Jason Blood.
- In KOing Bagman, Gotg took 4 damage, then 1 for the defeating blow.

Round 3 vs Ramil's Imperiex and a Gotham Street Thug.
Highlights
- I won the initative and I used the SM Fortress of Solitude map. In my first turns, I moved Bagman to the Mjolnir (which is 5 squres away from my starting area and on the 3rd floor), and gave him a power action to see if he's worthy to pick it up. I rolled a number other than 6.
- When the Thing used his speed WP, I chose to attack the Thug instead of Imperiex because I have more chances of damaging the Thug than Imperiex.
- Light Speed gave the final blow to the Thug. Then Imperiex outwitted Thing's defense powers and gave him 5 damage.
- When Thing got Koed, Imperiex used Outwit mostly on Bagman's Super Strength or Perplex. Bagman's damage value was limited to 2, while Imperiex has Imperv and a 19 DV.
- Imperiex eliminated Thing first, next was Gee and Lightspeed (which was easy since they only have 4 clicks), then Jason Blood.
- Imperiex was on his 2nd click when he gave the final blow to Bagman and had little effect when he took 4 damage from Bagman's trait.
In this tourney I only had an overall total of 17 pts . I got an X-Kryptonite though and I thank those who voted me for best team.
Insights using this team:
- Bagman may have a good counter attacking trait, but his attack and damage values can hardly damage figs with Invul or Imperv. He needs to grab an object (when in the first click) or use perplex to modify his damage (when in his 2nd click).
- The Thing's SP Ever-Loving Pal will not be fully used since there is only one friendly character with the F4 keyword.
- Opponents will attack Bagman only when he is the remaining fig. They'll start with The Thing, Gee, Lightspeed, then Jason Blood.
What if this was the team used instead?
Bombastic Bagman, Starter Mr Fantastic (replacing Thing), Gee, Lightspeed, Jason Blood
- A friendly character with outwit needs to team up with Bagman. Stretch can also modify either Bagman's :a-fist: or :g-starburst:

Single booster prize, no SRs/chases, rare was Composite Superman
Since I started to play more actively, I've been focusing on how map choice can affect the game. For today's tournament, I banked on getting map choice by fielding as many characters as I could and on a map that I haven't seen in tournament play yet - Jotunheim. The first map with more than two elevations, Jotunheim isn't as straightforward as other maps that make regular appearances on the gaming table. And I focused my strategy around a figure that exploits outdoor maps the best: Captain America from Hammer of Thor. With the update to the SHIELD TA, Captain America in my team can effectively have 11 Attack and range and up to 6 damage (with successful Leadership rolls). It was a big gamble as my team did not have any front-loaded Outwit, Perplex, or Prob control. But I figured that the map would protect me from a TK strike from the starting area (multi-elevation rules say that line of fire is blocked between Level 3 and Level 1 if the line of fire crosses another level, in this case Level 2). I was supposed to have guaranteed first strike even if I was faced with HSS plus TK teams.
Round 1
I won map choice (whew) and chose Jotunheim. Maximizing the terrain advantage, I blocked both entry points to the second level with objects. Despite the range advantage, arKhIM had the first strike because I was off by 1 square and was able to kill off the SHIELD agent with War Machine easily. I was able to weaken War Machine with HoT Cap and Falcon, but Ice Cap was able to join the battle even if he had to cross the object that I placed. HoT Cap did enough damage to Ice Cap to disable his ranged attacks and due to a timely Support roll, was healed back up to his 1st (or 2nd, I forgot which) click. I eventually finished everyone off with Dum Dum, the Specialist, and Cap still standing. And sorry, I can't help but notice - HoT Cap vs Ice Cap? Hot wins against cold this time around.
Round 2
Map roll was a little tricky as datu fielded a duo figure, and ATC rules in the past counted duo figures as two instead of just one. But he agreed to base the map roll as per standard rules as we were playing Modern Age which ended up being critical - we both rolled a 7, so I was ahead of him by just that +1. I again chose Jotunheim and after placing the objects, datu noted a big and obvious flaw - I would be slowed down by the same object placement that I've been using against my opponents ^_^. datu's team had short range and no fliers or TK - by the time he was able to advance his team, I had already hit Batman and Catwoman twice, putting the duo on their last click. We made a ruling error though, giving Robin knockback damage despite having Combat Reflexes down the dial - that put Robin on his last click with an 8 Attack when he could've been on click 5 with a 9 attack. I ended up winning with no casualties. But this was clearly a rock-paper-scissors matchup - if datu had won and chosen the Ferris airport map, I wouldn't have stood a chance with all his stealth and Gordon's Bat-summoning antics.
Round 3
Since I was just watching, I was able to catch enough action between datu and arKhIM's match. datu won map choice and chose Ferris Airport. With only Black Widow having anti-stealth thanks to the Thunderbolts ATA, arKhIM had difficulty drawing lines of fire. War Machine's 10 range was negated due to the confined space indoors, and before Ice Cap thawed War Machine was already at his toughness clicks. arKhIM couldn't bring the battle outdoors and was forced to charge indoors again. Datu ended up winning with no casualties. I have to say that the map really played into this match as well.
Today's matches were definitely map-driven. If any one of my battles had been in an indoor map, I would've lost easily. I'm not sure if the outcome would've been the same with more players (I'm interested to find out how I would've fared against tsuruchijo's team of Hal Jordan and Guardian of the Universe at Jotunheim) but these matches show that when preparing for the metagame, you need to consider the maps as well.
As for my team, it was a team that relied heavily on map choice and the element of surprise. Datu was quick to point out a flaw (that I've already devised a formation for so I won't get caught unprepared by this counter) and I have to admit, it starts out as a defensive formation so it can get tempting to turtle. I didn't get the chance to face any figures from the Superman set, which I was preparing for. Maybe next time?

I did, but each one costs 60 points - almost two SHIELD agents for one Widow. That's -1 to the initiative roll and the range increase. :) Points were tight and I was banking on Dum Dum's leadership and 8 range, so I couldn't take him out.
Ah, i forgot to mention. The actual team had Cap, Falcon, the Widows and a SHIELD agent (the 25pt one) AND a scorpio key. So there! Yun lang kulang lang ng isang leadership, but same monstrous range, same number of characters! Try it, it's fun. Mwahaha.

Not satisfied last tournament (no slight to datu and arKhIM, I just wanted to see how I'd fare against Superman team), I decided to run the same team with a 100 point upgrade in the form of another Specialist and Ultimate Nick Fury. I spent quite some time thinking about choosing between GF Black Widow, Yelena Belova, or GF Nick Fury - all of them 60 points, Widow and Belova sported Perplex on their second click while Nick Fury had Outwit - and then it hit me, because of the Classics release, Ultimate Nick Fury was Modern Age legal. Willpower, 10 ATK, range of 8, Psychic Blast and Outwit on his second click, and Leadership on his first made all 63 points worth it. He solved my problem of dealing with damage reducers and was a potent secondary attacker. I now had 7 figures in my SHIELD team, and from what I've seen in past battle reports, it's not often that one has +7 for the initiative roll. My gameplan was pretty much the same, hope to get the initiative roll and lean on Captain America's almost-broken ability to do some damage as my opponents advance while I use one of the Jotunheim mountains for cover.
1st match vs hisui
Hisui was using a two-figure army of Phoenix and Wolverine, so the initiative roll was kind of automatic for me. I chose Jotunheim. Hisui;s inexperience allowed me to take first blood, hitting Phoenix to her first Running Shot click. He moved back to one corner beside his starting area, so I advanced. He flew Phoenix and Wolverine on the second level of the mountain and this was when my deadliest mistake came - I became complacent with Captain America, making standing attacks instead of Running Shot-ting away. This allowed Wolverine (I've been ignoring him since he'd just heal up any damage I made while focusing on big bad Phoenix) to sneak up to Cap and finish my key piece in one turn (two Flurry Attacks). Hisui should have won, but I was able to find an opening when he left Phoenix vulnerable to a Psychic Blast from Nick Fury, putting her in her Regen clicks. Dum Dum made the kill shot, and Falcon took out the revived Phoenix.
2nd match vs OLATS
OLATS was supposed to have a Scientist team, but he didn't have a 3rd researcher so he ended up using just five figures. I won initiative and chose Jotunheim. He advanced his Superman and black costume Spider-Man, and Captain America got Superman off his HSS click. He advanced the two again, putting Spider-Man on the rim of the 3rd level and Outwitted Cap's ESD. Cap hit Superman again, this time to his Support click, un-Perplexing Spider-Man's DEF. Nick outwitted his Spider Senses and allowed me to finish the wall crawler off. Superman fell to Falcon as the Patriotic duo charged up over the mountain. With only two researchers and Prof X remaining, and me with the terrain advantage, I ended up winning with all figures still standing - but with Nick Fury almost dead as I carelessly advanced him, not anticipating that OLATS would actually send out his researchers out in the field.
3rd match vs datu
The fight that I've been preparing for, against a team of Superman and a TKer. My +3 advantage (+7 for me, +4 for datu) was enough to win the initiative roll, and again I chose Jotunheim. It's hard to do a TK first strike or yo-yo on this map due to the multiple elevations. Datu stayed exactly 12 squares away from my usual spot, so I advanced Captain America to my secondary planned attack point. Datu aggressively charged his Superman, pushing it to make an HSS attack then leaving the boyscout on the rim of level 3, Outwitting Cap's special power. Because of the push, Superman became vulnerable to Fury's Psychic Blast. He then Perplexed Lucy Lane's range to 1 (amazing idea!) which allowed him to make an HSS attack on the rim of level 3, but with Lucy's 10 ATK against Cap's DEF of 21 (ES/D and hindering bonus) was a longshot. Falcon charged up top, carrying Nick Fury, and they finished Superman and Woman. Datu then moved Superboy and tried to Force Blast Cap to damage him, but my numbers advantage was too much even for the upgraded Superboy. I won with my army intact.
Again, the map was a huge factor in our matchups. Played in any other Outdoor map, my opponents would have probably had a less challenging time advancing, but the anti-TK terrain almost guaranteed that I'd have a shot first. With four theme PCs and plenty of figures to use it on, that first shot is likely to hit. I wonder if we're going to see Jotunheim again, in the future? As for me, I'm sick of the map and the strategy (played it 5 times in a row in ATC, and several times at home against my nephew in practice) so I'm moving on to find another crazy tactic to use. Hmm, Vector in Ice in Muspelheim? Hehe.
I had a free play match with arKhIM after the tournament, which I lost (thank goodness I didn't get matched up with him hehe). It was a great game! I was more aggressive, leaving Nick Fury vulnerable and allowing Juggs to basically slaughter him with a close combat plus heavy object attack. Redwing KO'ed Nightcrawler! And also took out Juggernaut's Mystical Helmet! It was down to Dum Dum Dugan and a weakened Juggernaut in the end, with Juggs winning against the veteran agent but only after being brought to his 8th and second to the last click!

**OLATS battle report seems to have errors. Total says 397 points but this seems to be the points that he earned for the last match. Should be 75 + 100 + 390 + 397 = 1037 points. Could've placed higher than maniladawg and arKhIM if the points were added correctly.
The top 3 teams were named thematic teams, showing the advantages of sticking to theme (theme probs and map choice really really helps). There were plenty of Superman set teams but the top two were Marvel teams (ahem). Nice booster prize draft with two SRs and a common Superman turning up.

Yeah I also agree that the theme prob helped me a lot today...
Based on observation of my games:
- 2 weeks ago the winning factor was the maps
- Last week it was all about dice rolls (whether it's hit, miss, sense, shape change, Imperv, breakaway, etc)
- Today it's theme probs (though it didn't work for me on RJ's buzzer beater).
I didn't have the chance to practice the teams I was choosing from (Fantastic Four, A.I.M., X-Men, X-Factor) and I was late so I just used the same Asgardian team that I ran a month ago. This time, I changed my tactics - instead of making Volstagg the bearer of the Green Kryptonite, I had Sif bring it along instead. I realized that I was wasting Volstagg's higher attack and damage values and his breakaway penalty power by making him keep his distance, hence the switch.
1st match vs onslaught666
Against a non-thematic team, I won map choice and we battled on Krakoa. Got a Krakoa roll of 6 in round two, which I used to attack Johnny Quick to knock him past his Perplex. Was able to close in on Sinestro easily via Sif and based the tentpole with Volstagg. Sinestro pushed to attack but the voluminous one shrugged it off with a successful Impervious roll. I think I made a mistake here - Sif may have carried Volstagg while he was carrying a Heavy object (illegal - sorry about that) but both of us missed it. Not much of a factor in this game, as Volstagg attacked on two consecutive turns and Fandral was Outwitting Sinestro's damage reducers, I would've knocked him out without the heavy object and there was no change in defense values either (17 on click 6 and 8). We still have to be careful about this though, and I'll make sure to be mindful of this. A few Krakoa 4 rolls and good hits and I found myself wiping out the opposing team with no casualties.
2nd match vs gerald
Gerald crit missed on initiative roll, so I took him to Krakoa. He positioned Dr. Manhattan on the rim of the elevated terrain and brought the rest of the team there with him. Again, I made the mistake of having Sif carry Volstagg with a heavy object. She carried Volstagg beside Dr. Manhattan, and Fandral outwitted his Phasing to keep him there. That heavy object attack really affected the outcome of this match, I think. I would've carried Hogun instead if I were called out for carrying Volstagg, and this would've definitely made the battle longer. Dr. Manhattan missed the attack on the big guy, I hit mine, and the rest of the Watchmen got stuck on the elevated terrain.
3rd match vs datu
Datu had won map choice by one, and he took me to Hawkworld. Because of the range advantage, I didn't move too far away from the starting area (datu had found a secure spot that made it difficult to base his team). He baited me by moving Dr. Strange, Namor and Howard the duck close - I took the bait and charged in (this time, I'm sure Volstagg wasn't carrying anything). He retreated, leaving Namor behind. This gave me an opening as there was enough space to base Dr. Strange now, while Namor and Hogun tussled. Hogun eventually got KOed, but Namor couldn't help his team because of the Green Kryptonite - he loses flight and would have to base Sif, who had still had Exploit Weakness, still quite dangerous. Knocked Dr. Strange past his Outwit clicks, allowing me to keep the Kryptonite as needed. Volstagg was knocked down to his last click but I was able to finish the match with Hogun being the only casualty.
4th match vs maniladawg
maniladawg won map choice and used the dreaded B.P.R.D. map. Again, I made the mistake of carrying Volstagg with a heavy object with Sif. Used it to put Brainiac 5 past his Prob Control clicks and to his Outwit clicks (which was definitely a disadvantage for me). Fandral fell early due to successful breakaway Running Shots. Maniladawg forgot to clear his tokens when Supergirl was KOed, but that was the only time that the LOSH ATA would've kicked in. Eventually KOed the rest of the team.
At first I was happy with the 4-0, but realizing my Volstagg/Heavy Object mistake puts an asterisk on this. It's not just the additional two damage - not being able to carry the big guy would've impacted the way I'd position my figures (Hogun had Charge and 10 movement compared to Volstagg's 8 movement without any move-and-attack). I guess my only defense is that everyone else missed it too. I'm never carrying a heavy object with Volstagg in this team again :/

He doesn't have X-men. I used Mutant which wouldn't work on your team which has WoS NC because the keyword was no longer used after Mutations and Monsters :disappointed:

Yeah, lots of additional tactics available in Golden Age due to feats, BFCs, Special objects, bystanders, even Event Dials. Pero unti-unti ang lesson. :p

They're fun to play (especially Unlimited Class Wrestling, Dial H for Hero, Crisis on Infinite Earths, 52, and Battle for Metropolis as the game can swing either way in the middle because of the effects) but each table needs at least one. I don't have any dupes na rin since I gave my extras away. I think the only ones who kept theirs are me, dawg, datu, khim, rhomz, and john.
I've never tried a Nightcrawler killbox team before, but I've been wanting to. When the 300 point Golden Age format for Dec. 11 was announced, I saw an opportunity to try it out. Without feats and BFCs, I figured that Nightcrawler would be hard to pin down, and the few figures who could would have little support because of the 300 point restriction. So I went to my X-Men pre-Avengers case and looked at all the low cost X-Men figures released back then. I ended up choosing the following: Vet Havok as the main damage dealer, deadly up close and from 8 squares away; Longshot for Prob Control and as a secondary attacker or possible tie-up piece due to his 17 DEF Combat Reflexes; Danger Room Beast as a perplexer and third attacker; and Exp Gambit as my second Perplexer. The lack of an Outwitter is covered by my inclusion of the Shield Disruptor, and the lack of a TKer by the Mass Accelerator. I included the Laser Turret as another attack option. Of the five players that showed up that day, two brought Nightcrawler teams (me and maniladawg) but it should've
been three - blackdatu opted to try out something different upon seeing my team (maniladawg and I didn't bring alternate teams). Now that I think about it, it sucks that I got theme bonuses when I shouldn't have - my only consolations are first, we all thought Beast had the X-Men keyword and second, we didn't get any SRs in the prize draft later on.
I faced off against datu's Legion of Superheroes team in the first round. His team was good, actually, with Supergirl and Jarvis providing good TAs for the
LoSH wildcards to copy (Brainiac 5 outwitting stealthers!). I won initiative (I shouldn't have) and chose the Ferris Airport. Because of the high defenses of Young Superman and Supergirl, I opted to take out the TKer Cosmic Boy first, Crawler-napping him into Havok's line of sight (actually, I made a mistake by placing Nightcrawler where my Perplexers couldn't draw LOF without exposing themselves so I didn't have much choice). This forced datu to move the two Supers on their own. I knew he would push to attack so I pushed NC to Crawler-nap Supergirl. Crawler-napped Young Superman as well, but not before he had killed Havok with the Tombstone.
Second round was against rhomuel's Scientist team. He was supposed to use a Reporter team (Supes and three Johnny Quicks) but couldn't because dupes weren't allowed in the format. Again I won map choice and chose Ferris Airport. I got overconfident with Nightcrawler's Perplexed Def of 20 and moved him really close, leaving him vulnerable to Superman rushing in. I failed my Shape Change roll, and he needed a 9 and got it. I pushed to use theme PC (which I shouldn't have been able to do) and he still rolled a 9, taking Nightcrawler to his last click after I had failed a Super Senses roll (thank goodness Supes wasn't carrying an object). He pushed Supes next turn and surprisingly crit missed, which allowed me to move Nightcrawler back to the starting area where he was healed by Gambit and Longshot. Rhomuel tried to get his Superman to his Eleha'al Vine but I anticipated the move and got Beast there first. I was able to finally heal Nightcrawler back to starting click thanks to good X-Men TA rolls (I did lose Gambit's perplex) but it took a while to KO Superman (I had to Crawler-nap him to get him back to the Disruptor's area of effect). In the end, Morbius gave me a lot of trouble as Rhomuel hit a lot of 6s to dodge my attacks, but I managed to land some hits eventually.
Last match was against dawg's Nightcrawler killbox version. Instead of having multiple attackers, he had one big duo attacker in the form of Rogue and Gambit. I won map choice and again chose Ferris Airport. I got the drop on the duo but Havok missed his first attack even with the PC. Dawg KOed Havok but not before I had already done the duo substantial damage. Dawg was able to heal Rogue/Gambit thanks to Final Kiss, but I managed to work my way back up to KO it. My Nightcrawler landed a successful attack against his, and instead of healing it he attacked with his Marvel Girl. I ended up finishing the two with Beast, Longshot and Nightcrawler.
That's the last time I'm building an army without looking at my references. I'm glad the best we got was Doomsday rather than an SR. I would've gone with this team to keep theme instead of what I used during the event if I only realized my error earlier:

Bale keyword ay OR, as long as the character has at least one of the 3 prerequisites (:m-boot:, CCE, or CR), pwede gamitin yun Manuever.

Anyhow sa feats ako medyo uncomfortable kapag golden age. May feats kasi medyo mahirap intindihin. Kaya medyo hindi newbie friendly.
furthermore mag basa naman sana bago gamitin ang feats.
Yup, baka guilty rin ako sa ICWO, hindi ko kabisado yun modifier at wala akong feat card itself.
Still enjoy naman ako dito overall.

sori but had to replace protected for supes and had no 8pts feat in mind but anyways never used the feat cause i knew it was not for flyers....just needed to fill up the 8 points

actually you can slap on maneuver on Supes BUT you can't use it. FEATS are checked when ur ATTEMPTING to use it. It is quite possible that Supes can use maneuver when ur opponent OUTWITS flights symbol OR u go near the OBJECT that takes away the Flight symbol

Also a :d-normal: character w/o damage reducers (toughness, invul, imperv) on it's base/dial can't be given the shellhead feat, even it gets the crimson gem of cytorak.

Khim, the only prerequisites for feats that can't be modified are combat values. That's why you can't use perplex on damage value to qualify for Pounce. However, losing powers and combat symbols is viable. If, for example, your figure has indomitable but gains earthbound somewhere on its dial and you placed Shellhead on that figure at the start of the game, it would work.
As for the Shellhead question, yes, you can use Shellhead if you gain it from Cytorrak. Assigning feats works even if you don't meet the prerequisites at the start. Once you do, for whatever reason or source (powers, feats, objects, bfcs, etc.), then you can use it.

You can put nanobots on Kryptonian Soldier, but WHEN you use nanobots the DAMAGE value of Kryp-Soldier is checked. If it is STILL 3 you can't use NANOBOTS, but when it's 2 you can.
You can put nanobots on All-Star Bizzaro, but WHEN you use nanobots the DAMAGE value of All-Star Bizzaro is checked. ASB's DAMAGE never goes beyond 4 so ASB can never use NANOBOTS.

The HULK MAPS was the ONLY Maps USED. In the FIRST Round, there was a mix of GAMMA BASE and SHADOWLAND being used. BY the second round, EVERYBODY has figured that the SHADOWLAND Map was way better ESPECIALLY with the PREDOMINACE of BRUISERS and the lack of SHOOTER.
That being said the TOP THREE players ALL had good SHOOTERS (i.e. Tony's Punisher, Ramil's The LEADER) and the winner have TWO (i.e. Hulklops and The LEader).

That's what happened to Punisher and Hulk Robot.
BTW nice game. One of the best turney I had in ATC.

- Shadowland map! ang bago kong labs! hehehe........
- My "Neo-Avengers team" did pretty good. nagkamali lang ako nung una vs. Ramil. I did not utilize A.I.M. (Avenger Intrepid Man:p) Renegade's barrier correctly. I was really expecting that Ramil will get the first attack via Leader's TK but did not expect that Herc will go down fast. Nice first game for me (since last kelan na ba?) nevertheless. Gratz to Ramil:)
- overall, a solid set. not much "point and shoot (and run) type of figs" so it's up my alley:)

Hehe, Salamat Joel. Ang ganda ng Shadowland Map, one of my favorites ngayon including Krakoa. Sa mga susunod na tourneys pag nanalo ako for map roll, madalas ko itong pipiliin.:cool:
