Please, everyone knows that before Bruce Wayne trained with Ra's al-Gul, he trained with Gandalf :p

It is in another storyline where they retell Bruce's time from his parents' murder to when he adorned the cowl.

I, too, think the Batman would win. The only person (IMO) that would give Bats a run for his money is Legolas. People with magical powers might also give Bats some trouble...but a Bat-Rang in the eye will fix that. ;)

For the record, Saruman here would be during his White Wizard timeline. And you dont think Batman with all his explosive-rangs would beat Treebeard?

For me Ill go:

Aragorn - Ill go Batman, but Aragorn would make it Pretty Damn Close IMO.
Legolas - Very close one......I might give Bats a slight edge due to more gadgets and weapons, but this is a close one!
Gimli - Ill give it to Batman, his speed and range should allow him a sizeable win ratio here.
Borormir - Also Batman, but similiar to Aragorn, it wont be easy
Arwen - Batman, fairly decisively
Treebeard - Batman wins, hes too fast for the slow Ent to reliably catch, and can damage him back just fine.
Galadriel - Hmmmmm, never seen her fight, but shes got some nice magic there and is an Elder Elf. Undecided.
Gandalf - We have seen him fight, Ill go with Gandalf.
Uruk Hai Leader - This guy gave Aragorn a pretty good fight, but Batman should win much more than not
Cave Troll - Ill go Batman, similiar to Treebeard, hes got the speed to stay away and the range/damage to put him down
Ring Wraith - Aragorn took out 6 of these guys, so Im beating Batman can certainly beat one.
Witch King - Unsure on the whole cant be killed by a man thing, but in the end Ill give the Witch King a more than not against Bruce.
Saruman - In his White Wizard form, Id say Saruman takes Batman more than not.

Aragorn - Batman should beat him fairly consistently. Not in an embarassment, but I do feel batman should win a vast majority.
Legolas - The range here and the starting different is challenging here, so I actually think he fares better than Aragorn despite being an overall less well rounded fighter. I still feel Batman would be able to best him a majority of the time.
Gimli - batman in a landslide. No range, no stealth, and short reach? He'll get plucked off pretty quickly.
Borormir - Batman wins solidly as well.
Arwen - Batman wins.
Treebeard - I'm not sure...depends how much Batman's weaponry will REALLY damage the big guy. Batman will be hard- not impossible- to hit. I'd give it to Batman a majority of the time, but definitely see fights where Treebeard gets ahold of him early enough to end it pretty decisively.
Galadriel - No vote, we haven't really seen what Galadriel can really do well enough to know.
Gandalf - Gandalf wins pretty decisively.
Uruk Hai Leader - Batman would win in a good bloody fight.
Cave Troll - Batman will win, also an ugly fight.
Ring Wraith - I think Batman would win here.
Witch King - The Witch King would slaughter him due to the whole prophecy deal.
Saruman- Saruman would also make quick work of Batman ala Gandalf.

If we have enough interest (aka votes/participation) I might add up the votes, average out per character if Batman wins or loses, and see about throwing up another one for Bats vs. various classic Star Wars characters.

All the LotR characters are at a disadvantage, in that Batman is from modern day. They will have no idea of what his gadgets will do.

Aragorn: Aragorn gets taken down quickly by a tazer.

Legolas: Robin, when facing the Rising Sun Archer, used a technique called arrow cutting, and used it to great success, blocking arrows fired at him. If Robin can manage to block arrows from an unknown location by sound alone, I'm sure Batman will manage when he can see his foe. With the bow neutralized, Legolas is down to close combat, where Batman will be able to take him down.

Gimli: Tazer.

Borormir: Tazer.

Arwen: Suckerpunch to the jaw.

Treebeard: Defoliant packed for when he comes across Ivy.

Galadriel: NA

Gandalf: Batman gets owned.

Uruk Hai Leader: Uruk closes quickly, leading to a short confrontation, ending with Uruk being taken down by a tranq.

Cave Troll: He'll do something fantastically Batmanesk. Considering he regularly packs tranqs in high enough doses to take down an Elephant, several those would do the trick, but he would probably opt for something more flashy, due to being Batman.

Ring Wraith: Against one? It would be interesting. If Batman knew, or figured out, that it wasn't a living creature, I'd give it to him. But if he tried normally non-fatal means, he would have a tough go at it.

Witch King: Can Batman have the Batmobile? Really, the prophesy is that no man can kill him, not that no man can defeat him...

Saruman: Saruman is arrogant enough that he might try the whole evil guy speech, and also try to "play with his food" as it were. Gandalf would just go for the quick win, whereas Saruman would draw it out and underestimate his opponent, which we all know is a bad idea against the bat. Since he ultimately met his end at the hands of a mortal, I think Batman could pull this out, but he would be in rough shape after.
