View Full Version : New DC FAQ: Why didn't they correct the Titans team ability?

The Titans team ability is identical to the X-Men team ability. Yet, why hasn't the DC FAQ been updated to include the clarifications made on the Marvel FAQ regarding this ability?
The specific point of concern regarding this is where it states in the Marvel FAQ that "...you cannot simply apply a click of damage to one of them."
In a recent DC tournament, my opponent played with Hawk and Dove and started them adjacent to each other. On turn 1, he clicked down on Hawk without "exchanging" a click up on Dove. The judge allowed it since there's been no ruling on Titans in DC to disallow it.
I know the wording in the PAC states "Give one Titan 1 click of damage and give the other Titan one click of healing." Unfortunately, the argument by the player was that the healing wasn't required; he compared it to using a support piece to attempt to heal a figure that's already at full health. There's nothing in the rules stating that it cannot be attempted, even though the end result is 0 additional clicks of health.
The Titan team errata is needed in the DC FAQ!

That sounds legal to me.
Hawk was taking a click of damage, while Dove was taking a click of healing.
If Dove was already at full health, giving her a click of "healing" would take her to the last KO dial. It wouldn't make sense to knock her out when she's receiving healing.
The move is legal, I wouldn't make a big fuss over it.
Hawk still took his click of damage, Dove was already at full health.

phonix,
Really? They ruled on the X-men but not the Titans? I didn't notice that one.
Sheesh, I guess we'll have to wait another three months then before seeing that blunder fixed. *grumbles*
Oh well,

Sounds like you got jobbed by a rules lawyer. I suppose it's possible the Titan's ability IS different from the X-Men's ability. Unfortunately, we won't know until the next 11 count FAQs update in 3 1/2 months.
Your one hope might have been lawyering right back at him. The ability says you must _exchange_ a click. Dove did not _exchange_ anything, so it was not posssible to do that. It's not much, but use it until there's something official on it.

I think I've asked this before on this board, and I believe that a judge said that this is in fact an illegal move...although my memory is a bit spotty on it.
I think it's illegal, though.
I believe that this mostly stems from the fact that not many people actually play a Titan based team.... kinda the same way that X-Men based teams aren't so plentiful.
You are correct, though. The Titan team ability is supposed to work in the exact same way as the X-men team ability. So, any FAQ updates on X-men should also apply to Titans.
One figure MUST take a click of damage and be assigned an action token.
The other figure MUST take a click of healing.
The wording on the PACs for X-Men and Titans is identical so they work the same way. The FAQ clarified the concept even if they just did X-Men. You must give a click of healing as well as a click of damage. If you can't heal then you can't make the exchange. As Funky said, it is an exchange.

straight from the PAC card:
"Titans: Two Titans occupying adjacent squares can exchange 1 click of damage. Give one Titan 1 click of damage and give the other Titan 1 click of healing. This counts as a move action for the Titan who takes damage, though the character does not move. "
No need for a FAQ correction.
Well, actually there was....
Many people believed that a full healed figure could take the healing and then apply one click of damage to one other figure.
That's why this entry was made in the FAQ:
In order to use the X-Men team ability, a click must be _exchanged_ from one X-Men to another, you cannot simply apply a click of damage to one of them.
Replace X-Men with Titan and you ge tt he DC version of this update that should've been included in the DC FAQ.

I think it's more of a clarification than a correction. Which can be very helpful. Sometimes even a simple rewording of a concept helps clear it up. At least as far as my thick skull is concerned, anyways...

Would you know where I can find the Wizkids judges forum? I tried looking but did not see it. Is it only viewable by judges?

Just judges. Not even Warlords and Battlemasters, for that matter, unless they're judges as well.

Which is a bit useless if you are a judge from outside the US.
C'mon WK - we like to play over the pond as well and it would be nice to check if our rulings were correct!
