I was playing Heroclix the one day and I looked at my selection and realized that U HT Batman and R IC Hulk both cost the same amount of points. This got me thinking. Just because they are Heroclix equals doesn’t translate back translate back to comics. I think most of us would agree that Hulk could beat Batman in a fight.

That is the idea for this tournament. Every entry will be close to the same amount of points Heroclix wise, but this will be their comic forms fighting!

Rules:
This will be a standard single elimination tournament with 32 combatants. There will be 2 to a fight. They get no knowledge of each other (unless they have fought in the past). The only thing they get is the Heroclix figure of there enemies and their character cards (if the figure does not have a card, assume there was a custom one made). They will have 5 minutes to prepare. This is a fight to the death or KO, whichever happens first, and they must fight (no waiting for the opponent to die of starvation). They have with them what they normally carry and what there fig has if it is different. (Like how Bullseye doesn’t carry a gun, but he has one on the fig).

Mary Marvel - 149 (Crisis)

vs.

Fenris Wolf - 140 (Hammer of Thor)

Terrain:
Swamp: This dark and dreary swamp has very little light, but a lot of murky water. Old decaying trees have toppled over and are sticking out of the muck.

Hm... not voting quite yet, but leaning Fenris. God-endowed powers aren't the best thing against hi.

Im in the same boat at Q99, leaning towards Fenris but willing to be convinced.

I don't see how the source of Mary's powers would affect the outcome of this battle.

Didn't Thor beat Both Loki and his son Fenris at the same time (with Caps shield but without Mjolnir)?

I don't know enough about Fenris...
Here's what Comicvine.com has to say about the pooch:

"Fenris Wolf was extremely strong he was high up in the class 100 range and even stronger then a being like Thor [sic]. Apparently he could increase his strength and power as of each encounter he grew stronger [sic]. He was also very invulnerable although he couldn’t survive a full fledged attack from the Storm Breaker. He can also assume the virtually invulnerable wolf form or his wolf-like humanoid form. He has very power teeth and claws. Lastly he used a hammer made of Uru forged for him by Surtur."

However...

"During the second battle as Loki was blasting at Captain America, Thor used Captain Americas shield to protect them both while he launched himself off the ground and fought back Loki and beat both him and his son Fenris wolf. He had beaten Fenris wolf so badly that Fenris could barely stand up on his own two feet. [Fenris] was scared off by Captain America's phrase “Ruff” which lead to Fenris wolf running away."

He seems like a terribly inconsistent character since Thor totally crushed him but he killed Kurse (after a big power-up).

Normally, he's an incredibly formidable foe for a god like Thor and has a big place in the mythology, I'd say that's just a low showing.

I was also leaning towards Fenris before I read the other posts... nothing has really changed after reading them though...

I'm going to give a win to Fenris. It is a pretty serious critter, that a few times Thor has tried to just avoid altogether.

Mary is not the most potent of the Marvels, and isn't exactly acting under her own steam or the wisest in this form. Which will tip the scales for me.

I'll throw in for Fenris too. *Most* of the time, he is in the 'do not mess with if you can help it' category even for foes of Mary's strength.

The evidence I've turned up shows fairly consistently that Fenris is usually less powerful in a first encounter and powers up over subsequent confrontations... So much so that there is speculation that Fenris can control this power-up based on previous battles...

Since this is their first match-up I'm going with Mary Marvel... However, were they to meet again history shows that Fenris would be more powerful.

I think Im going with the "guy" that Thor avoids fighting over the gal I think Thor would beat much more than not. Fenris Wolf for me.

I'll go against the crowd and back Dark Mary here. More likely to use the speed, less likely to hold back up front.

Mary Marvel to advance

Dark Mary's ruthlessness will give her a better chance against Fenris, and might win her a few wins, but overall I think the Wolf will take it more times than not.

Toss me in for Fenris, I think he is the stronger overall contender and if this is a more recent version of him then he definitely gets my vote.
