View Full Version : Teleport and Carry? ...Custom Figure...

Hey folks,
I'm working on a custom figure dial based on a "little known" Marvel character.
The "paper" version of this character can teleport just about anywhere (240,000 miles, according to the books and to any specific point in between). He can also carry a number of charcters with him. Otherwise, he's big and strong, pretty tough but slow and not agile at all.
He would be the ultimate "taxi" for the Fantastic Four. Guess who it is. (answer at the bottom, written backwards)
For HeroClix, of course, he can't go ANYWHERE... so, I figure I'll give him Phasing and a high move... like 18-20. I'll give him a med level of attack, like 9-10 and med defense 13 with a few clix of toughness, decent damage (2-3, due to his strength)....
But here's the problem... I'd like him to be able to carry a single character while he "Teleports", but he doesn't fly....
I don't want to make "special rules" for the big-guy, but this is a weird problem... giving him flying would "work" in some cases, but he couldn't be shot at ALL while "teleporting".... and he would look pretty funny up on a stck like that...
Suggestions?
Thanx,
FeralParrot

Well, the other option, which isn't much better, but is a bit more fitting. Is to give him the Green Lantern Corp ability. That let's him teleport the team as he was meant to do. While remaining earth bound.
Sure, he was never apart of that team.(Or universe.) But it get's the job done. Ta.

Green Lantern Corp ability? ... I guess I'm completely out of the DC loop. :)
I'm just trying to use the existing Marvel Heroclix, super power/stat system to create a non-game breaking, useful and entertaining new figure.
I guess it's more of an art project. ;)
But still, I would like him to be pretty cool.
As for Lockjaw's "on paper" abilities, yeah, he would be able to grab the whole team (or any adjacent figures of his choosing) and move them anywhere on the board.
I just think that WOULD be a bit of a game breaker, and require a totally new ability.
So, if he could carry one figure and Phase farther than any other figure... he would be appropriate enough for me...
The rest of his stats and abilities are easier to figure out.
Thanx, though.

Opps, well I'm the same as you, Marvel only, and when I read over it, the person using the ability as to be a flier as well. (Which makes sense I suppose, since all of the GreenLantern People fly in comics.)
..but here's the power.. anyways.
Green Lantern Corps: A member of the Green Lantern Corps can carry up to 8 friendly figures when they move by either soaring or hovering.

That rocks!!!
This makes me a happy happy boy!
This means that a similar ability has been playtested and approved by WizKids design and testing (those lucky bastards) :)
Thank you very much!
Yip Yip!
Lockjaw will be pal-in' around with old Ben Grimm after all!
(I wonder if the Inhumans will be a new team for the Heroclix universe, and what THEIR team ability will be.)
FeralParrot stoked
A way to fix your Lockjaw problem would be to make the movement symbol on his base the winged symbol for flight. Don't put the flight stand on there and then he would be like the opposite of the R Rouge. He can fly but without the flight stand. This would basically eliminate soaring but with phasing who cares?
I have always wanted to see a team ability that grants the sharing of damage values with adjacent teammates. That might be too much with Ultron out here though. Or how about adjacent members can make ranged attacks at one target but only taking one action from your allotment for the turn? But I think Black Bolt and Crystal would be the only ones to really benefit from this.
I got it, how about this Inhumans team ability: When two members of the Inhumans are adjacent, the member with the higher point value gains the Perplex super power. (Perplex is from DC and can raise or lower any number printed on a figures dial by one. The perplexer must have a clear line of site and be within ten squares of the target. The effect only lasts until the end of the current turn.)

Just give him Phasing and Green Lantern Corp, he wouldn't need any sort of flight as phasers ignore changes in elevation.

Ah yes... but only flyers can carry figures....
Good suggestion though (probably use it)
Telekinetics and Super-strength-ers should be able to carry characters as easily as they throw dumpsters.
In which case, Lockjaw could have Telekinesis or Super-strength.
By that discussion... Hulk could (and should) be a ground based Taxi!!!
Thanx folks,
