1500 point tourney

This weekend were playing a 1500 point tourney at our venue and I already know that most of the younger players are bringing to use Fin Fang Foom, Starro, both of the Anti-Monitors, and Dark Phoenix along with a variety of regular figures to fill out their team totals.
I’ve got 3 possible teams I’m thinking of using and would like to get some opinions on what one everybody thinks is the best.

For team #1, I have Mal & Enchantress primarily for TK. Then using Thor, Odin, Loki for main range attacks and then Balder and Ulik for close attacks.

Team #2 is for sentimental reasons. I love to play the JLA and with the JSA on Smallville last Friday I made a team with both groups together.

Team #3, I think might be my best chance against some of the colossal figures that should be showing up. They’re just a smash’em team that will do lots of damage.

For BFCs I'm thinking of Deep Shadows, Ordinary Day, Poor Teamwork & Disbanded since none of my teams are theme teams and it will screw up my opponents. Will probably use Ordinary day as my dummy BFC.

So what do you think?

On team 1, what keyword are you warbounding? it's 5 points per character with the shared keyword and you MUST warbound all characters with that keyword.

He's right, warbound is an all or none feat. That aside, a couple ideas:

-See if you can get a Brilliant Tactician in there. R Loki would go well on team 1. Bumping up all attacks or all damage can really help neutralize the colossals.

-I like the BFCs, wouldn't change them at all, but Disbanded would potentially mess up the JSA teams.

-Be sure to read the Rules and FAQ for the colossals. Print them out and bring them. It might make a difference.

Why don't all of your characters or at least the heavy hitters have the Monster Hunter feat card? plus 1 to attack and damage against monster or collossal for only 3 points. it would definately help.

Hercules and Namor + a dual target Mind Controller with Compel :) Throw in Superman Prime too. Compel Compel Compel. :)

I forgot about Warbound being all or none. I was just going to put it on Loki With his asgardian keyword so I could give Ulik the token. Thank you for catching my screw up.

Because of that I have updated them by giving monster hunter to 3 people on teams #1 & #3 and to 2 people on team #2. Got to look into the BT and see if I can put it in.

I got to find the right character to put it on if I can put BT out there.

I understand about disbanded messing up the JSA team, but we have one player that loves to play a thunderbolts team and changes TA's about as fast as running water. That card is for him.

I've never had much success with Hercules. I also distroy him when hes on my opponents team. Namor I have used the last couple of tourneys and now everyone know what type of beast he is, expecially when his first attack is with a heavy object.

From what I'm reading it almost sounds like team #1 is what you guys are leaning toward.

I know I need to refresh myself on all the colossal figures that possible are coming. I have all of them at home and will be reading up tonight.

This may be a dumb thought, but wouldnt disbanded also take away the power cosmic/Quintessance TA that are on the colossal figures?

yes, i would definately suggest that if you play against any but galactus as i believe he ignores outwit anyway. also, poor teamwork will hurt a lot of jsa teams as well.

the first team is nice. you could think about putting on the female loki with brilliant tact. is pretty awesome. that team has the numbers for some insane dmg output.

second team is one real close to a 1000 point jsa team that i play a lot and it destroys. if you can, use the kinetic accelerator with E3.

Hellbait your the 2nd one who mentioned adding the female Loki w/brilliant tactician. I just went to the units and looked at her.

From the two recommendations I guess I should dump the SR Valkyrie so I could add her & BT. Doing so allows me to put Monster Hunter also on Balder. Never having played her and after checking her out I feel #1 is looking like its going to be my best choice for the tourney.

SR valk can be a huge beat stick with all that move and attack though. but yea, ive played her a few times in lower games with BT and fellow Asgardians and it was pretty brutal. both a good support and offensive threat.

I'll let you know. I used the SR Val this past weekend on a Defenders team along with Namor, Dr. Strange, & Sentinal of Skyway. She was great in the tourney. But Namor was my MVP.

What do you think about the other teams?

I know team #1 weakness is no HSS, but they do have the most well balanced team.

#2 has only one HSS guy to start with and E2 will be everyones main target with Spectre next. Granted their alot of my favorite characters and I do use them most of the time. But I do think there also the weakest team of the three. Also my BFCs choices will hurt this team the most.

Originally I thought Team #3 was going to be the best choice. Lots of HSS, outwit, and 5 characters doing 4+ damage at the start. Also due to that not one character will become the main target by my opponent. But there biggest weaknesses that I can see. They have 2 rookie TKers and only 1 healer.

But as of right now I'm leaning toward using the Asgardian team. I think they will be the best choice to use, even over the villians team.
