Dr. Strange hands-down in my experience. He's got so many various abilities, he's a good wildcard for a variety of needs.

Generally, Dr. Strange is better, since he is so much cheaper and a better offensive figure. But, if you are playing high point cost games, Nightmare lasts forever, and keeps a high attack. He could be used as a clean up unit, especially if your team systematically takes out Outwit, anyone who can deal 3 or more damage, and Incapacitate.

Yeah,

Dr. Strange is definately the better overall piece since he doesn't eat up a badoozle load of point plus he adds so much versatility to a team (decent attacker and taxi, awesome array of powers.)

Though Nightmare and his starting Enhancement cannot be overlooked in high point games. Me I'd go with stange over Nightmare in any build total of under 500 points.

Hope this helps,

how about in an 800 pt or 900 pt game who is better than

In a 800+ point game it really depends.

Dr. Strange is a much easier fit in any build, since he is fairly self sufficeient and functions well in multiple roles as previously mentioned.

Nightmare however is a bit more complicated, he gets exponentially better if you build the proper team around him. His lack of range and mediocre damage prevent him really from being a true heavy hitter, if you are simply looking for a monster close combatant you'd be better of feilding the likes of the Hulk, She Hulk or maybe even Juggernaut and Thing. For similar points you could even go with the likes of Thor for great range and close combat effectiveness.

What truly sets Nightmare apart is his multiple clicks of Enhancement, those high stats can be gotten elsewhere as I said, so you have to make the most of this power of his. Fielding him with multi targeting Energy Explosion pieces such as Ultron will allow you to deal sick amounts of damage, this is how you make Nightmare work for you. He then doubles as a great bodygaurd and will probably be the best piece in the game to ever pair up with Veteran Dr. Doom.

This would mean that your team will have to be geared towards a rather focuse and complex (yet potentially highly effective) build. If you assemble the right team Nightmare will be the bane of your opponents and bring about unequaled torment upon his figures.

Well I hope this helps you out,
VH

In large points games I have seen Dr. Strange tear apart my characters with his good range and first click of RCE and then once he's weakened he heals all my opponents units. I have never actually seen somebody play a Nightmare but judging by pints costs, versatility, etc. I think Dr. Strange is better overall.

I'd have to say that for a figure who's primary ability is enhance, Nightmare is way too expensive (damage clicks aside). Take Strange, he's a very tricky and useful character.

In anything under 400 points Dr. Strange is usually better, but Nightmare is indeed a beast. Ten clicks with loads of damage reduction, Enhancement and some of the best stats in the game, he has his uses.

I am a big fan of nightmare, I use him in several of my 400 point teams. But, as was stated before you have to plan the team around him very well. Put him with the low-cost long range trio of Bullseye, Pyro, and Boomerang, and he can make them monsters. Also add a B/C/F man to protect them from the charge. Pyro is great for putting up the barrier in front of the combo to prevent the EE attack and if you add another barrier man(blizzard) you can defend the whole gang very well. Elektra and Black Panther are always great on these teams. If you can weaken your opponent with teh long range trio, at the end Nightmare can go toe to toe with anyone left standing. He is worth it if you can make the team around him a good team.
