View Full Version : Cloak and Dagger/ Outsiders Question

So i am new to Heroclix and i have a crazy question. Could i Outsiders Cloak and Dagger so that when they move and attack they do not have to subtract their attack by-2, because under the fantastic four rule book it described a move and attack ability like this,

Give this character a move action when it is not adjacent to an opposing character. The character can
move through squares adjacent to opposing characters. During its
movement, the character can make one close combat or ranged
combat attack as a free action. The character must be in a square
where it can legally end its movement in order to make the attack.
Modify its attack value by –2 (to a minimum attack value of 1)
for the duration of the attack. The character can use the rest of its
movement after making the attack.

With the way it is worded i think it could work, and in the same way modifying the damage down by one for the second attack i think the outsiders ability would cover, but that is why i am asking this question here on hcrealms to more knowledgeable people. I hope i posted this in the right forum as well. So what do you all say to this question?

Outsiders only stops modifications from powers and team abilities. Move and Attack is neither a power or a team ability. Outsiders will not prevent the modification from Move and Attack.

The short answer is not, outsiders will not prevent the -2 to AV from using the move and attack ability. Outsiders only prevents modifications to the target character's combat values by powers (e.g., perplex, ES/D, RCE, etc.) or team abilities (i.e., hydra, Shield, PD, etc.). Move and attack is neither a power, nor a team ability, so the modification from it to AV would still affect a character targeted by the Outsiders TA. Also, the damage value for using a duo attack ability would still receive the -1 damage penalty on the second attack because the duo ability is also neither a power nor team ability.

Also, the carry ability's -2 to movement can't be Outsidered. Any "ability" that is not a power or team ability cannot be affected by Outsiders. Abilities are generally things that are printed on the top of the dial, such as Flight (which grants Carry), Swim, Transporter (which grants Move and Attack and Carry), Duo (which grants Duo Attack), Sharpshooter, Indomitable, and Giant (which grants Giant Stride and Giant Size).

Every one of those abilities with the exception of Giant can be outwitted (though Giant Stride specifically still can).
