Stryphe and I have begun work on a 3-D Map.
We are going to keep doing 3'x3' sections that will continue into another 3'x3' section until we have a whole city.
These pics here are two of the 3'x3' sections in there very early stages.
Some things to note:
1) The grids on the board are exactly 1.5" x 1.5" and are actually cut into the board. We used a router to cut them in.
2) The curbs and sidewalks are raised up off the streets, to give that realistic curb look.
3) All objects, cars, buildings, etc, are O-Scale, which is the same scale of HeroClix.
3) Object placements are not final, as those were put down just to take pictures.
4) We have many more objects and props to buy to give a very realistic look and feel. Such as telephone booths, stop signs, park benches, etc. We will even be painting yellow and white lines in the road, and may even add the yellow turtles in the middle of the road.
5) The 3-D items we have bought (garbage cans, telephone booths, fire hydrants, mail boxes, etc.) will follow the rules for the Special 2-D Objects that are available in HeroClix.
6) The biggest red building still has been white-washed yet. If you notice on the other building close-ups, the brick and mortar is very realistic looking. This is our white-washing painting scheme. We use slightly different shades to give each building it's own distinct color. If you look at the close-ups of the big red building, you'll notice it has to much an plastic look to it. That will change once it's painted.
7) On the barest map, we will have the beginning of a lake that will continue on another 3'x3'x section to the north. We will be adding more buildings, including a two-tier building, with a bank on the bottom, and the smaller tier on top will include a restaurant with outdoor seating.
8) We still have to paint the small details on the buildings, such as the trim and window sills.
9) When finished, the stores and buildings will include actual lights, utilizing a power control box.
When these two sections are 100% complete, we will be using at the venue I judge at on various occasions.
Enough talk, here are the pictures. I can only add 5 attachments per post, so I'll make several posts.
