View Full Version : Which is your favourite Marvel 'Super-baddie' to build a team around?
I know - I'll leave off your favourite :)
I just wanted to put more recent figures that were relatively 'big-cost' (reflecting their 'super evil-ness' in the comics).
I also would like to ask the question without a specific point cost in mind (again, I know you feel more likely to pick a 250-point fig on a 400 point team than a 300 point team).
From just these choices, who do you like? (and thanks for the input)!!
... Because I love the character, and I think the 'clix is fantastic (without a special power even!!!) I chose the Magus.
I've enjoyed Ultron and Annihilus very much, and am looking forward to playing the new Loki - but if I could only keep one evil clix, it would be the Magus, no question.

Definetely Loki. He's ridiculous to try kill, especially with a Valkyrie or three, and he can hit back hard.
DOOM!!! by fair so many options, Batman, mystics, ultimates, not to mention his "i dont have to see u to outwit" power brutal
Theme team or not, it doesn't matter. Ultron is one bad dude.
Ultron. I love the Phalanx from Annihilation Conquest, I love running Masters of Evil, and most importantly, I like robot teams!

Gotta love this guy he has so many great powers throw him in with 6 moloids or Unus and watch your opponent wilt like daisies under a hot lamp

It's very hard to pick between Kang and Doom.
Gotta be Dr. Doom for me. Lord of Latveria has been the bane of many a team that have stood against Doom.
Doom is one bad dude. He is so fun to play and has great Keywords. I really wanna try Ultron out too though.
I Voted Ultron cause i play alot of ruler teams and the Ultron, Nova Blast, Sinestro, Tk Reach is just my altime Fav combo now.
But i will have to Say you Left off Mystics Doom I Love that piece he was the the first Figure i pulled out of the SI set and i have loved him ever since.

Yeah Too bad you can't use it with Disent anymore.
I love crooks. Too bad that Heroclix makes it so hard to play most of the best super crooks, that is, make competitive teams with them. I would have voted for Annihilus because of his usefulness in building a team. But I ended up choosing Apocalypse, because he's just too cool (but also totally unplayable, especially if not given at least 4 or more feats).

Totally unplayable? Really? What more do you want?
Oh well, everyone has figures that just don't work for them.....
My own favorite off of this list? The Red Skull.
I enjoy him in the comics, I like the sculpt, & I find him both fun & challenging to use on the table. Now if only I had some WWII German soldiers to use with him.

had to go with thanos from supernova, just cause he so far has never been beat while he was on my team, but i usually play fairly high points games with several other players on the board at the same time. so he has plenty of tk on his side to realy get into position.
I just don't get why people think Apocalypse is unplayable. If you know how to play him, hes' awesome - I've used him a ton of times and he's probably one of my favorite pieces in the game. Just an awesome all-around figure (with a great sculpt, I might add).
NOOOOOO - How could my Magus be last???? :)

Where's SI Iron Man and all the Hulks?

I went with Annihilis.
Personally I love Doom and think he is a great figure but it is much easier to build a team around Annihilis's meager 127 point cost. I like how he plays and I like how he can be regenerated. He might be able to be taken out faster than some other characters but that is OK.

whoops half asleep when I voted this morning, voted for Kang as I don't own any of the others and now I'm more awake I realise its Exp Kang I've used to build around. Normally a soldier team for support while he blasts away with MOE team ability. Its made me realise how poorly off I am for the big baddies though must do some shopping.

DOOOOM!
I always want to build a team around him, anyway.
I picked Ultron, because I find he has more options to work with. Thanos and Doom are great, too, but more comic limited when using the theme words.

People can't wrap their minds around not using Fortitude and Protected and Camo on him........not that he isn't good with them but he can be payed without them.

I usually see Apoc sporting Camo and trick shot. He always seems to be standing in the bushes with a stealth enhancer right next to him. Hate that guy....

i'm sorry but this is just silly to me! feats shouldn't be the reason you are able to field a character like apoc! anyways...DOOM ALL THE WAY!! HE ROCKS! when i saw his dial i was floored at how powerful he is and can be! the best thing is, you don't even have to use DC figures to make him as nasty as he can be!

I voted for the Magus just because he's the only piece in the list that I've used. a better baddie for me would be HoT Enchantress or SI Rare Doom just for the amount of large point games I play and I love Enchantress' dial.

I want to say Red Skull, but I just haven't been able to figure out how to use him. Kang it is for me, he's just too awesome, and I love playing my Avengers Forever teams.

Hmm, now that I'm looking in my Battle Planner I'm not seeing them. I must have deleted them. I'll start a thread over in the team building forum, though, should be fun, especially with the new Cap.

I voted for Doom. I used to play a 300 pt teamwith Doom, JL Batman, and Lois Lane. I would put Endurance and Inside Info on Doom and let the fun begin.

Same reason why I voted for him. Also, he has all of his different Doombots and many Marvel villains(including Loki from MM) to surround himself with and share his TA. So just have an army of Marvel villains and robots with Doom's TA and use the Mystic Doom. Good times! :classic:

There can be no other answer than Doom. Who else do you "build a team around?" You start with Doom, throw in some sweet TA's, some MM fodder, and some secondary attackers to let Doom do his thing.
In any version, Doom is one of the few clix that always demands respect.
Actually I perfer Green Scar he's just solid I play him with Gee on a 300 point team whenever possible. Usually I give Green Scar Lunge and Fortitude just to make him that much more annoying and on a 400 point team Vampirism YEAH BABY

Kang is my guy. Always loved the character. Yeah, other guys on that list are more team-leader friendly, but only one of those dudes can lead a team of himselves into battle!

For the flexibility that he offers a comic accurate team player, Doctor Doom is my choice. I mean, come on, he teamed up with Luke Cage...!
The results of the poll are screaming out to me to make a team (500 pts) with:
Magus (184)
Red Skull (123)
Annihilus (129)
(the bottom three picks :) )
Ironically, Magus is my #1 choice, and Annihilus might be my #2!!

WAIT! STOP! BACK THE BUS UP! Where is the love for Thanos? He might be a little more expensive, but POWER COSMIC! Fortitude built in. Great attack values, outwit, prob, and an amazing scuplt. He just screams "Come get me."(Gauntlet reference). Love this guy!
I recently played a game with:
Magus (the Avatar of life)
Phyla Vell (the Avatar of Death)
and Thanos (a former Avatar of Death, and he's coming into the fray in GotG)
They add up to something like 589 points (600 point game)
a GREAT team (for fun)

My vote was for Thanos, this guy is a beast. I have played him in 5 300pt games, all by himself with some feats, and he has only been hit once. He has never lost for me. Thanos all the way!!!!!!!

Remember Green Scar was a major villain during World War Hulk he took over Manhattan, put a large number of heroes in the hospital, and almost destroyed the Earth.

No. He wasn't a villain. I read it. I own it, along with ALL the tie-ins. You are wrong for two reasons:
1. Green Scar was the Hulk's name on Sakaar, while he worked his way up from gladiator to world ruler. On Earth he has always gone by Hulk. The sculpt and name reflect his time on Sakaar, not Earth.
2. Hulk did not actually kill anyone on Earth during his rampage, although he really, really wanted to. Hulk was completely justified in his revenge against the heroes. Did you read the ghost Rider tie-in? As Dr. Strange predicted, Ghost Rider's powers had no effect on Hulk because Hulk was judged INNOCENT. After discovering Hulk was innocent of wrong-doing, Ghost Rider left him to his personal vengeance against the "heroes" who wronged him.
So, NO. Hulk was not a villain, even during that time of his life. ;)

Lots of villains have perfectly reasonable motives behind their actions Bane, Catwoman, even Hal "Parallax" Jordan but it doesn't excuse their actions. Plus I never said Green Scar was responsible for attempting to kill anyone I said Green Scar injured many heroes which he did. The Hulk declares that he plans to destroy New York City and leave the Illuminati to their shame umm that sounds pretty villainous to me. Green Scar wasn't exactly "judged" either Ghost Rider realized the Illuminati did not deserve vengeance and then rides away.

No, Ghost Rider realized the Hulk DID deserve his vengeance against the Illuminati. I can see I'm not going to persuade you. However, I think if we had a poll among people who've read Planet Hulk and World War Hulk, the majority of people would not say that the Hulk was the villain of the story. That's why the people who read the story enjoyed seeing the Illuminati get a beat-down: they deserved it.
