I wonder if anyone can help me out with this? In a recent game my opponent who had perplex rolled to hit me missed by one and then wanted to use perplex to add 1 to their combat effectivly changing their dice roll I argued this was after the fact they countered with "it says any time during the turn" but surely you can't change a dice roll once its made. Let me know if any one knows.

You have to declare the use of perplex before you make an attack. He was wrong therefore.

You cannot use perplex or outwit in the middle of an action to change the outcome.

The only thing that can change a die roll after rolling is prob crontrol.

Perplex is an action, and you can't use an action in the middle of another action (the missed attack).

The FAQ even says:

"Perplex must be used either before or after another action. You cannot use Perplex in the middle of another action."

Careful, Perplex is not an action. This means a character can use it and make an action in the same turn but you are right that it can't be used in the middle of an action.

These guys have got it correct.

Technically, Perplex and Outwit can only be used before or after a declared action.

Basically, once those dice are rolled, Perplex and Outwit cannot be used until the action resolves itself.

It's even in the DC FAQ under perplex:

Perplex must be used either before or after another action. You cannot use Perplex in the middle of another action.

So you can show it to your opponent. ;)
