I recall reading on this site that it was an "easy fix" to make it so NIco Minoru from Hammer of Thor didn't look quite so giraffish. Are there any guilds/hints/tips to making this piece less freakshowish?

I have all the appropriate modding tools and even paint if need be in preparation to unfreakerize this interesting support piece.

It was really rather simple for me. The first one I modified, the head came off in my hand by accident. After that, I just had to glue it in place facing the hand with the staff rather then facing away from the staff. The second one I tried just "wiggling" the head, and it came off rather easily also. When you glue the had back on there should be a "peg" where her neck is that actually slots into her hair and the back of her head. Then you just have to repaint any area on her neck where the paint may have flaked off. Her neck may still look a little exagerated, but it's miles better then "out of the box".

Hope this was helpful.

Pop the head off. Turn it so she is looking at her staff. Put it back on.

That's all I did and she looked 100% better. No tools. Not even glue as her head naturally wanted to be that way (although, glue might not hurt).

There is even a groove in her sleeve for where her hair is supposed to be.

It's got to be one of the easiest "mods" (really correcting an assembly mistake) that you could do. Nico's head slots in so perfectly in the correct position that you don't even need glue!

I definitely didn't believe that her head would "fit into the correct position without glue" but I was pleasantly surprised to be very wrong! After a tiny bit of careful pulling and scalpel work, her head came off, and fit perfectly into place. I took it off and added glue for insurance, but it really was that easy. Now all that needs to be done is match her skin tone with some paint to clean up the part of her neck that was previously hidden and fixed sculpt here I come.

For what it's worth, I also trimmed her neck back a bit before sticking it in the correct place so it didn't look so long. Even without trimming back it is still a huge improvement.

Where the head rests on the "tab" on her shoulder determines the length of the neck. The perspective is remarkably better when it is re-positioned.

I mixed a dab of GW blood red with elf flesh to match the skin tone.

Sadly, the Valkyrie is a little harder. That arm is really glued on.

I don't recall seeing these kind of mistakes in previous sets. What gives?

New question. Is there any easy way to make Skrull Elektra more human/less horrible?

Yep. Grab an Elektra from Infinity Challenge, glue her to the SI base, and repaint to taste.

The best Elektra sculpt we ever got was in the first HeroClix set.

What about the "assassin" sculpt from Xplosion? I've always liked that one as well.

It's a decent sculpt, but not as good. :classic:

I dunno...I've always kind of wondered about First Class Marvel Girl. Seemed to me like her outstretched arm was glued on about a quarter turn out of whack..though I've not been brave enough to snap it off and fix it.

Looking at the pic in the units section, neither is Marvel Girl's head (on my fig anyway).
