When you refer to "swimming," are you talking about the method by which the camera rotates in the basement scenes in That 70's Show? Hint, hint, say no more, nudge, nudge? ;)

When I read top 10 sitcoms I was wondering if Married with Children counted

I guess it does and Man that is one of my all time favorite shows

SciFiGuy I think you mean Snip, snip, Wink, wink, say no more, say no more.

Or even,
"Click, click, grin, grin, say no more, nudge, nudge."
At least in the context of the Monty Python episode.

Sitcom's are hard. I watch a lot of comedy that isn't really sitcom-y.

In no particular order

Spaced
Red Dwarf
My name is Earl
Roman's Empire (Wang Shapes anyone?)
Curb your enthusiasm
Game on
The Mighty Boosh

I was just realizing that I barely watch sitcoms any more; when I was in college (undergrad and still had time), my girlfriend and I had a handful we liked enough to watch regularly but these days, only a few make the cut.

Current Sitcoms I Still Manage to Watch and Highly Recommend:

*The Office (American version - the British one ended)
*How I Met Your Mother (It's Legen - wait for it - dary!)
*Scrubs

Probably one other I'm forgetting - and I still see the occasional episode of "The Simpsons" or such - but those three top the list.

I totally forgot The Office, Phoenix Nights, and Alan Partridge.

Thinking of past sitcoms I've enjoyed, one that finally came out - well, season one at least - on DVD that I really recommend is "WKRP in Cincinnatti". It may seem a bit "outdated" at times but there's something about a show where the occasional "guest actor" (who wasn't even the same role each time) stuck in my head enough that years later when he first showed up on "Lost" I immediately remembered him.

"As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!"

Here's my Top Ten:

01. Freaks & Geeks
02. Arrested Development
03. Scrubs
04. King of the Hill
05. The Simpsons
06. Blackadder
07. The Office
08. The Kids in the Hall
09. Monty Python's Flying Circus
10. The Young Ones

So Kids in the Hall and Mony Python might not count as "sitcoms" per se, but hey, what's the requirement for a sitcom?

Does anyone remember Blackadder? British comedy with Rowan Atkinson? I loved that as a kid. Haven't seen it in years, but it's stuck with me. Same with the Young Ones.

Frasier gets honorable mention. I think it's a way better show than Cheers, though I liked Cheers too.

I don't have top ten since I don't watch sitcoms really but I will say I really enjoy Seinfeld, Becker, and Scrubs and used to enjoy Family Guy before the most recent season.

Oh man, speaking of "having a plan", I totally forgot about Perfect Strangers. Balki was the man! Balki would suplex Steve Urkel to kingdom come!

Captain Beyond

Not necessarily listed in order of preference but in order of how they come to mind.
1. Get Smart
2. Addams Family
3. Action
4. Andy Richter Controls the Universe
5. Sledgehammer
6. Andy Griffith Show
7. Cheers
8. Everybody Loves Raymond
9. Red Dwarf
10. Sanford & Son
11. The Monkees
12. Arrested Development
13. Reno 911
14. Soap

Sorry I couldn't stop at ten.

I deliberately left cartoons like the Simpson's off as I think they deserve a separate category. I also don't think Monty Python qualifies as a sitcom either. It was very original sketch comedy.

Don't say that! You'll give some reality tv pitcher an idea and next thing you know, we'll have "Wrestling with the Celebrities" pairing off has-been stars.

"And Balki has Urkel in the Pinchot Pinch...is he going to go for the patented Ridikalous Suplex or is Urkel going to be the one Dancing for Joy at the end of this match? Stay tuned to find out!"

Yeah, I'm not going to list 10, that's far too much TV for me to ever watch. I'd rather be actually doing stuff.

Having said that, it's nice to see Scrubs getting some love. That show is pretty awesome.
