View Full Version : AOA Sabretooth
so i have wanted to mod this guy for a long time but im not really a fan of his classic look with the fur shoulders...just looks camp to me hehe.
so i decided to go with the aoa version.
quite a simple mod really.
using the hands and head of wendigo. and the body of bulldozer. and some green stuff i think anyone could make this mod. it was quick and easy (took me about 2 hours in total including paintjob)
and he turned out pretty well. if not totally accurate

that is awesome... have you considered either a Wildchild companion piece or duo piece?
I did always love that concept of Sabretooth and Wildchild, with Child as a pet on a chain.
i do believe algrim has done a sabretooth and wildchild duo fig for his dark reign project. i wouldnt want to steal anyones thunder. im going to stick with this for now and continue with my brotherhood project.
Excellent work! Keep 'em coming.

I may have to do one of these myself (although, with a Tallus). Need him for my Exiles team.

i think anyone could make this mod.
Assuming my cutting and attaching skills were up to par, and I could manage the green stuff sculpting, and I had the ability to do a killer paint job, then yeah, I could easily do this mod.
Seriously, I appreciate the modesty, but that is an excellent mod. Perhaps you could adjust your post to say "i think anyone with some sculpting/painting experience could make this mod."

My AOA Sabretooth used Thunderball's body; same features, but has a chain! Funny how the Wrecking Crew is ideal for Sabretooth mods...

Honestly, this is my fear. I badly want a AoA Sabretooth from Exiles, but I'm convinced that when he finally shows up, it's going to be as a duo with Wildchild.
That is a great looking piece!!
thank you guys very much appreciate all of your comments. im glad he turned out so well considering it was a quick and simple mod. just shows you dont need to use lots of parts to get a desired look in the end.

you can call it modesty if you like. but it really was a simple mod to do. and i think with the information i provided in my recent BLOB tutorials. i really think anyone could do this mod. i admit im not a bad painter. but as far as my sculpting skills go. im not very good. i just have a lot of patience. and no patience was required to do this mod really as it was so quick to do. so i seriously believe anyone could do this :)
as for cutting skills?? i have more scars on my hands than i have made clix mods...so that one dont take much working out hehe.
but seriously guys thanks for the kind comments

awesome...that is truly awesome! Fantastic job!
That really is a great job --great photos too!
Nicely conceived, executed and presented!
How much of the time was spent cutting down Wendigo's hair and getting it to flow into that ponytail? I haven't removed the Wendigo's head, but looking at one (I have a small menagerie on top of my work computer) and I can't tell how much of that mane comes off with the head.

Fair enough. I have been meaning to try some modding actually and just haven't gotten the time to do it. And I hope you didn't take my comments as negative in any way as they weren't meant to be. I was just admiring how polished the completed mod was and comparing it to what would happen if I ever get around to trying it personally. Keep up the good work and the posts of your completed works.

Pretty sweet piece. Now all you need is a combat dial and this guy would be set for play

Great Work, themod.
You are really inspiring, first blob now this... i really need to get my modding on, your ideas are simple, yet the outcome is amazing.
Ryac76 - What is the actuall name of the Green Stuff. I keepp looking around town and no one knows what I mean by Green Stuff
The Name may be Kneadadite... or really Green Stuff (I guess over at Citadel, thatīs simply how they named it?)

The name is Green Stuff made by Kneadatite. Here is a link to a site that sells ithttp://www.thewarstore.com/product18832.html Here is the official website that tells you about their product http://polymericsystems.com/epoxies-adhesives/epoxy-putty-tapes/kneadatite-blue-yellow.htm
Hope this helps.

using the method io mention in my blob tutorials. i heat my blade first.
it soon splices off pretty quick. i actually just cut all of the hair off to leave just the face.
trust me its much easier adding greenstuff to something that looks dodgy rather than trying to make a dodgy mullet look good in the first place.
so like in real life. if you have a dodgy barnet...get it cut hehe

thanks very much. ive always taken the simple approach to modding. i doubt ive ever used more than 2 figures on any 1 mod. and i believe that now we have so much to choose from you can get away with such simplicity
and yes green stuff is called kneadite. again all info can be found in my blob tutorials on all methods and tools used for all of my mods
thanks again guys for all your kind comments. it might just inspire me to make another mod hehe

someone recently posted a query about what AoA mods wold be possible and I suggested this... I've been thinking that when I have some extra duo dials from BatB I'll make one of these.

Great job! I modded this figure and used the Bulldozer as my base figure as well. I love the way yours came out, we definitely diverged on the recipes, and you went with a much brighter paint scheme. And yours holds more true to the artistic source (Joe Mad). I'ma liking it!
yeah id seen yours in the past machineman, i thought it was way cool. so had to do my own take on it :)
