Energy shield+Support/Defenders

Hi!

If a character's got energy shield and a defense value of 15, will his defense appear as 20 for an opposing ranged combattant if the energyshield-figure also has a friendly Defender(or friendly figure with support)with defensevalue 18 adjacent to him?

If the team member with Defend is next to a teammate with Energy Shield/Deflection, the ES/D piece will have a defense of 18 + 2 =20 defense value against range attacks.

Keep in mind that only other Defenders (or Wildcards who have declared that they will be using the Defender ability) will be able to share the defense. If someone from the X-Men team is next to a Defender, they will not be able to share the defense value.

(Any friendly figure adjacent to a figure with defend can share the defense value of the figure with defend.)

Unless I'm mistaken, the case of Vet Torch and Rookie Invis. Girl is at hand. This works and is a good tactic. Torch can carry Invis. Girl around as he blasts enemies away from a distance while taking advantage of his 20 defense.
