Has anyone taken an official Wizkids map and made it 3D, as in an exact replica so it could be used in tournaments? My friend and I are thinking about doing this and just wanted to know if anyone had any experience doing it and to which map(s)

I am currently working on building Bifrost from HoT. I would recommend looking at GaleForce 9's albums of Stark Industries and The Daily Planet. They have a pretty good system for incorporating the grid without it looking goofy. Here are the links:

I'll put some pics up of Bifrost and another map I'm finishing, when I've got a few more things done on it.

I remember a post by Horhiro a couple years ago, where he made a 3D map out of the LOSH starter map. Check it out HERE. (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=227482) It was a perfect map to make 3D.

No pics yet, but I was looking for some other stuff and found this site

They have 1.5" square sculpted tiles, if you line them up with the grid you wouldn't have to put lines there. Now I need find a good map to use these on.

edit: I posted before I looked at the prices. It turns out it's not $2 for several, it is $2 a piece. Oh well, I thought it was too good to be true.

It might sound lame but I think that the "Great Arena" map would be cool to make 3D. It would basically just be the outside walls four corners of elevated terrain and a couple of boulders.

Back in the day, I made a 3-D version of the original "four corners" map. Construction was fairly easy. The buildings were made from corugated cardboard taken from cut up boxes that I glued together. I glued construction paper to the outside for the paint and windows.

After BatB I think I am going to drop the HoT map. I am almost done with my other map. Pics will be up next weekend.

Whole-y Rusted Metal, Batman! That is freaking awesome, WhistlingNinja! Was pretty much everything made from fiberboard? I also love the etching on the Daily Planet glass. At first, I thought that the girders and metal plating on the Stark map were from the MegaBlocks Spiderman set, but those were self-constructed too, weren't they. Very, very cool. How much time went into them?

The flooring and plating might have been made with textured plasticard, but I'm not sure. I found GF9's site awhile ago they were the ones who made the maps. I had no part in making them (though I wish I could have);). I am planning out a 3D map right now. Next weekend I might have enough done to post some pics.
