Hey all, my brother and I have been playing almost every day since I convinced him to get a set and we've come up with a few questions we could use answers for from our latest game.

1) When it comes to flying characters, the older rules (Icons) said that any ground character attacking a soaring character had to reduce their range by so much before they could attack. The newer rules have simplified flying by doing away with soaring/hovering. Does this mean that flying characters are treated like ground characters when in combat or are their other rules?

2) With the Avengers/JLA team ability (movement does not count as an action), does carrying count as an action or is it considered part of the move?

3) Does flying ignore elevated terrain or is it treated like hindering terrain is for grounded characters? are they forced to stop once they are in the elevated terrain square?

4) If a grounded character is knocked back to water, does it act like the character is hitting a wall or does the character just stop?

5) If a targeted character has invulnerability, do they get reduced damage and knocked back the original damage distance? For example: The original damage is 3. With invulnerability it's reduced to 1. Is knock back 3 or 1?

6) In regards to running shot, can a grounded character run up an elevated terrain (via ladder) and shoot or does going up to the elevated terrain cancel the attack?

I think that's it for now. As always, thanks for the help, my brother and I are really starting to get into this game!

1) I am not sure what you mean by this question?

2) Carrying isn't anything, it just happens. You pick up the adjacent character. So it has no effect on JLA/Avengers. Do note that carrying is a -2 to the movement though.

3) Flying doesn't ignore elevated terrain, but it does allow you to move onto elevated terrain without using a ladder/stairs. You don't have to stop when flying up to elevated terrain.

4) As far as I know, you don't stop knockback for anything but a) falling off a building b) hitting a wall c) hitting another character, otherwise you move back the number of squares = to the damage taken IE after reducers, which I believe answers the next question ;)

5) See the last part above.

6) Yes, a grounded character can run up a ladder, or stairs, to elevated terrain and still make an attack with Running Shot. By grounded, I am assuming you mean 'non-flying'? As grounded refers to elevation, and not flight.

7) Welcome to the game. I hope that helped, and enjoy :)

Cheers.

Here are some quick answers for ya!

1) All character adjacent are in close combat regardless of movement symbol.

2) Part of the move, so it's free.

3) They ignore hindering for movement. EDIT: Oops Yeah messed this up... they ignore ELEVATED for movement.

4) Just stop. Water is hindering for movement. EDIT: Oops #2.. They keep going.

5) One. Knockback is damage taken.

6) You can run up stairs, down stairs, around a corner... as long as you can see 'em.

Welcome to the game guys have fun with it!

In (further) answer to #4

A wall or blocking terrain, the edge of the map or another character all stop the Knockback path.

Hey everyone thanks for the answers. I'm the brother lol.

Ok, with the knockback hitting a waterline, what happens if the character gets knocked back into water. Are there any negative effects against the character? Say for example Thing gets knocked back into water. He doesn't fly (obviously) and isn't a swimmer like Namor so is there a negative associated to any stats like movement? Also is it possible for him to walk through a water square or can he only be knocked back into it?

Thanks again for the help and i'm definitely loving this game. Can't wait for the local comic shop to start their next run of tournaments so I can try it out that way.

water terrain is hindering terrain for movement purposes.

Ahhh Yes... water id hindering for movement... so if Thing gets knocked back into water then he's movement will be halved coming out of the water. You can walk through water but again just like hindering you would stop as soon as you enter it (excluding knock back), and then movement would halved till you get fully.

Good luck with those tournaments!

EDIT: Yeah what Maraud said... dang me and my long-winded-ness....

Excellent. Thanks again. I'm sure we'll have many more questions. Now off to find a new strategy since my brother is learning my current one haha.
