There is a constructed 200 point marvel tourney this friday, and I've decided Id like to field a team not including Firelord, Bullseye, Nightcrawler, PC, Barrier or outwit. Now the challenge was to make it competitive in the environment dominated by those figures and abilities. Abusing poorly costed figures, or barrier takes little to no skill, and I'd like to feel proud of a victory. With no crutches like rerolls, or outwit to rely on either, all I've got is my brain (such as it is).

And now, for something completely different;

U - Super Skrull
V - AIM Medic
E - Wasp
LE - Clay Quartermain

Super Skrull: I got into the game when I saw a skrull, and fell in love. As much as I love them, I believe he is the only playable one. SS i have yet to put on a team, so he will lead the oddballs to victory! (certain defeat). ;)

AIM Medic: I may be bent on making it as hard as posisble to win, but seriously, I'm not suicidal

Wasp: Without anything else, I'll see what tricks i can pull out with some superior manoeverability. No access to U Wasp or I would have downgraded Clay to a Sniper and upgraded.

Clay Quartermain: Also a figure I've been meaning to use, but never found the room for. Great attack value for a 22 point fig, Shield Team ability, and 3 clicks of willpower to keep on adding those points of damage down the dial.

Initial test was a resounding victory over a V doc oc, U wasp, V bullseye, felicia hardy and a medic team.

Thoughts or suggestions? Call me crazy if you like, just add something constructive after you get it out of your system :) After Super Skrull, the rest of the team is very flexible.

A similar team did very well at a local tourney. I took 2nd place to that team with a six-model Taxi/Outwit/Super Strength team.

Be careful to guard your Medic, but be aware that Super Skrull's high Defense down much of the dial will make it tough to heal him successfully.

Had I taken out his Medic first, he'd have lost, and lost badly; he only got one successful heal during the game, but it was the one that counted.

You might even want to consider taking *two* Medics instead of Clay, so when push comes to shove you can keep pushing them and then have the Medics heal each other.
