Give this character a ranged combat action; halve its range value until
the action has been resolved. All powers and team abilities possessed or used by characters within range of this attack as well as feats assigned to them are ignored until the action has been resolved, though wild cards using this power can use the team ability of a friendly character within range of this attack. At least one opposing character must be within range of this attack to activate this power. Draw lines of fire to every character (friendly and opposing) within range in every direction; these lines of fire ignore characters, but are affected normally by terrain. If clear lines of fire can be drawn to two or more characters, this character’s damage value becomes 1 until the action has been resolved. Make a single attack roll and compare the result to the defense value of each character in range; each character hit is dealt damage. Attacks made with this power do not target characters.

I know this isn't a new issue, but I'm having difficulty finding an errata, or old post bringing up the issue of knockback and pulse wave. While I understand PW ignores armor, it also states that they are ignored for the duration of the attack. My question is:

If a fig is knocked back from PW and would take damage from knockback (ie wall/edge of map/falling/etc), would their armor remain ignored for this damage too?

No. PW ingores the characters powers and such, but the knock back occurs after the PW and knock back damage is dealt separately from the PW.

This is no different than if a normal attack generates knock back, but the damage from the attack also puts the target on a damage reducing power... and that damage reducer then reduces any damage they character would take from being knocked back into a wall.

I'd have to disagree

KB is not after the action, but during the action.
So they way it reads any character that takes KB and hits a wall powers would not prevent/reduce the damage from it.

Now if it said they were ignored for the attack that would be a different case.

While I agree that everything would be ignored, I don't agree with your timing.

KB occurs during the attack...immediately after damage has been taken, but before the attack resolves.

Pulse Wave causes everything to be ignored until the ranged combat action resolves.

It would be different if the power said something like "Pulse Wave ignores all powers..." This would set it up so that only things related to the attack would ignore the powers. KB damage would not be one of those things. As it is, it says: "All powers, traits and team abilities possessed or used by characters within range of this attack as well as feats assigned to them are ignored until the action has been resolved..." The result is that if you are in range, then you can't use your stuff.

Note that if the KB caused you to no longer be within the PW range, you'd have your powers back.

Yeah, that's the issue I couldn't find, "when is knockback applied?" The rules don't specify if its during or after action resolution. A fig being applied damage doesn't neccisarily indicate the action is finished being resolved. Although I did forget about being knocked out of PW's range of effect.

It is applied during the action. I mispoke earlier... I've been a little sleep deprived lately ;)

So one question: Nekron's sp pulse wave says his kb can't be ignored. This only applies to Charge and not to giants/peanut bases. Charge is already ignored? So i'm lost.

There may be other situations when Charge might be ignored.

I can't think of any off the top of my head, but if such a situation does arise, Nekron's SP has it covered.
