and it does look lopsided but i have been using the FF4 lately and the only piece that is disappointing is mr F to some extent

the pieces i use are V thing V human torch and R invisible girl looks like none of them are being used in this match up

Looking at R Human Torch in comparison to the V Vampire Lackey almost makes me want to cry. I mean I can have 2 of her for one of him. Mr. Pooptastic does really suck, but Johnny got the shaft too, just to a lesser extent. I really like Sue and Ben, too bad the other two have to bring down the team so much, otherwise they might actually be playable together.

I didn't mean to hijack the thread, and i'm sure dr lyu didn't either. Tipplej has already posted the teams and the matchups. You would have to weed through a lot of posts to find them, but the information is there.

What I don't know is where the match is taking place. Or when.

I just wanted to start a new thread so people could actually post responses to the last match and we could keep the tournament moving............... many of the delays have just been from the thread being down............. it gets a little tiresome trying and re-trying to post to a overloaded thread .........................

Sorry I have been slowing down a little bit of late. I have been busy doing a lot of other things and have not had as much time on the tourney as I needed or wanted. I have started losing my "advance" matches too. I am finding the write ups hard going as Round One drags towards the end. It is tough going. You try playing a Herolcix match on your own and stopping after every move and dice roll to wrtie down what happened. And then writing it all up aftwerwards !!!

All that said, I hope I can keep it going.

Please bear with me and maybe in the next few weeks I can speed the process up. Fingers crossed.
I don't want to skimp on the write ups either. The table takes long enough to update too!

Match 24 takes place in the warehouse.

Another Fantastic Four team, led by Medusa enters the tournament. They have a good mix of abilites with the super-strong, charging, invulnerable Thing who will take some beating. Stretchy Mr Fantastic can prove a handful when he is hurt and able to outwit his enemies. Human Torch and Invisible Woman give them flight, a reasonable ranged option and running shot, with Medusa to tie them up close. Dont forget the Invisible Woman who is stealthy and extremely hard to hit, and can share her defense with others. Remember also that if one of the Medusa team is hurt, the others will come back stronger.

Facing them is the incredibly awesome Nightmare with high damage, invulnerability and ability to enhance people like the lethally effective Firelord. Firelord is truly to be feared with his incredibly dangerous ranged expertise. One very solid close combat option and one very solid ranged option, both to be feared. Elektra may be effective with ranged expertise at very short range, and the willpower of Doctor Octopus may prove useful. The Vampires are all useful, mainly with potentially lethal fangs, ability to steal life energy and regenerate. This team has only one flier, but is very capable.

Either side loses one of their big players quickly and they will probably go down.

All sympathy tipple-meister. I can't imagine how you've done it so far, much less imagine how you'll keep it going all the way to the end. Any way you slice it, this thread has been fantastic and an inspiration. Me and sfield are doing our own little tournament of 500 point teams, the only difference is we're just too darn lazy to actually write them up and post them. Which is probably all for the best because we've both made some pretty lousy tactical errors. I just hope you can keep it up (Wow, I can't tell you the number of times THAT has been said to me:eek: )

Anywho, in hopes of keeping my losing-streak alive and well, or at least alive and on life-support, I pick Medusa!!! She's got real purty hair and stiff. I mean stuff.

This is a taxi issue. The FF has two taxis, one capable and one so-so. The Nightmare group only has one. But what a taxi he is. Unless Thing charges Nightmare or Firelord with a successful hit first chance........the FF continues to live up to what I thought the team was as soon as it was available:

First round fodder.

Let's see Tipple put Firelord taxiing R Vamp Lackey right into range of a charge from Thing carrying a heavy object or better yet the dumpster. Then I truly know Tipple's "secret strategy".

Furthermore, I'm not bitter one iota about Steel's play last round. Not at all.........

And for those of you with out your sarcastic radar on.....I was kidding.

Okay, I know we've been burned on apparent 'gimme' matches before, but I really don't see how the FF can pull this one out.

Vet Sue's big advantage is that 19 defense. But with two of her opponents having a 12+ attack that's not as big a factor here. Rookie Johnny - four clicks. He's got a good chance of being more useful as a healer than a fighter. Rookie Reed will mostly be useful for his outwit, assuming he stays alive to use it. I don't think Medusa's as bad as many people make her out to be, but she's not going to do much to Nightmare or the Q-tip. The only really solid member of the team is the Exp Ben, who is a solid monster and the only true threat on the team.

Now to rip them up we have Nightmare, whose only weakness against this team is his lack of a ranged attack. With his invulnerability the only person who can hurt him (until Reed gets his outwit) is Ben, and even then a fully healthy Ben needs a 9+ to hit him. Point for point the exp Q-tip is probably the most cost effective version, outranging the entire FF team and also having that hard-to-hit 18 defense. And let's not forget his big ol' 5 points o' damage. And if his RCE is outwitted he can still do 4 just by being next to Nighmare (and no, he can't do 6 because RCE doesn't work with Enhancement). Rookie Doc Ock's willpower gives the team an action advantage, the Vampire Lackeys all have the chance to wreak havok with cheap b/f/c, and we can have duelling 2 range atttacks with rookie Elektra going up against Medusa!

Even with their 'healing' I don't see the FF pulling this one out. Nightmares Walking to win handily.

Firelord can be enhanced too..
True, you can't enhance his RCE.. but you can enhance his energy explosion if it's needed, but more importantly; you can enhance firelord after he looses RCE. It works wonders.. especially on his pulse wave. If nightmare still has invulnerability he can't even be injured by the 2 damage pulse wave..

The trick will be tho, as long as vet invisible woman doesnt push, she will be nearly imposible to KO (providing that nightmare and firelord get injured..


Still, I pick nightmare because you so rarely get a chance to pick nightmare for the win and mean it. :)

I will pick Nightmare to win this, due to the following advantages:

1. Nightmare. 14 attack, good damage, 18 Invulnerable Defense, Steal Energy near the end to stay alive, his attack bottoms out at 10... there are loads of reasons to love this guy.

2. Firelord. We all know why.

3. Medusa. Having her on the other team is ALWAYS an advantage.

I would offer to do a writeup or two. You could send out the positions and dice rolls per turn. Then I could interpret your strategies the way I like. "Steel was feeling a little chilly and decided to ask Firelord for a little warmth. Firelord quickly obliged with a 5 click ball of magma love. Steel then says, "Thank you sir, may I have another" :D

Or, better yet, you could send me your figures and I could play the match out myself. :D

This is a tough one. But seeing that you have 2 18 defense guys on the same team and nothing higher than a 9 attack on the other, I'll go with the Nightmares. It will be hard for the Nightmares to miss, and even tougher for the FF to hit. Should be an easy win unless Thing gets lucky.
