"Big Fish"
Defenders #12
Mine name is Brunnhilde, former leader of the Valkyrior. Though I be condemned to live on Midgard, still I strive to live out my days with honour, in the hope that I shall one day be redeemed and take my place once more in the hallowed halls of Asgard! A short while after arriving here, I happened upon a small band of warriors known as the Defenders fighting a group of villains called A.I.M. Their leader, the great mage known as Doctor Strange, invited me to join them in their adventures, and it has proven most rewarding.
We are hence attempting to restore Namor, the rightful king of Atlantis, to his throne. However, it seems that whenever we come close to achieving our goal, something blocks our path anew. The Sorcerer and I were attempting to learn the state of things in Atlantis while the king and our ogre dealt with another attack from A.I.M. We discovered that the current ruler is a sorceress named Llyra, who lauds it over this kingdom with an iron grasp. We followed two of her lackeys to a mine on the sea floor where A.I.M. had been in search of some long forgotten artifact. Llyra's knights beat off the last of A.I.M.s forces and took the item back to the queen. Strange was unable to use the Eye of Agamotto to scrye its true nature, but he could feel that it was a talisman of great magical potency.
While we were trying to force our way into the throne room to confront this tyrant queen, the very sea floor shook beneath us. A shadow fell across the city of Atlantis as an enormous creature, as large as any giant in Jotunheim, swam past it. Surely this could not be a coincidence. The mage Strange and I both came to the same conclusion- the witch-queen must have summoned the creature. As a being of brute force, his magics would have little effect on it, so he agreed to stay and seek the truth of its origin, sending me off to gather our strong-armed allies drive the creature back. Unfortunately, the need for haste is lost on some of the Defenders;
"Who do you think you are, to order me about?" Prince Namor snarled. "I am the true monarch of this realm, not you, and not your pompous Doctor Strange!"
"Now now, Namor, I'm sure it wasn't meant like that..." the weakling named Banner interjected.
"And now you try to order me about too eh?" Namor laughed. "I need not listen to this any more. I am going to reclaim my throne- I have waited long enough for that already." He went to dive under the water, but I caught his ankle and hefted him such that we were staring face to face.
"HOW DARE YOU.." he started, but I would have none of it. "No. you. listen. to. me. You may be prince of these seas, but you would still be under Doom's thrall were it not for the Defenders. You owe us a great boon, and you will speak with respect for your fellow warriors. This beast moves toward the coastline as if to attack the humans. If he does so, Atlantis will be blamed and there will be war for your people once more. Is that what you wish?"
The anger was still in his eyes, but his mouth stopped snarling. "Very well. Your logic is sound. But do not presume to touch me again. Ever." Namor dived beneath the piece of debris that Banner and myself were standing on and lifted it into the air. It did not take long to find the creature's wake. We flew ahead of it and then Namor yelled at it. "Creature of the Ocean! Submit to your King!"
In answer, it's massive head broke the surface of the ocean. It appeared like an enormous deformed whale, but with clawed flippers and mottled skin. "By Posieden's Trident..." Namor gaped, "It's Giganto."

Couple of questions for the editor. :)
Firstly, if Namor MCs Giganto off the map, he gets a bonus 4 TXP. Does he also get the IAP/TAP for KOing him?
Also, if one of the Defenders gets on Giganto's back, does that mean that Giganto also gets +1 AV against them? Or is it just the Defender that gets +1?

Yes. "[Giganto] is considered KO'ed" would mean that the character who KO'ed him (Namor) would get 2 bonus TAP/IAP.
But keep in mind that Giganto has Battle Fury for the first half of his dial.
Also, if one of the Defenders gets on Giganto's back, does that mean that Giganto also gets +1 AV against them? Or is it just the Defender that gets +1?
Sorry, this isn't worded clear enough. My bad. The intention was that only the Defender would receive a +1 bonus. Giganto does not get any help.

Charging across the ocean floor, the beast let out a bellow of defiance. It's path was one of destruction, but more a case of the terrain getting the way of it's body than anything. All the same, it's destructive might was enough that lesser mortals would have been scared half to death at it's display of power.

That's good. I was a little worried. In that case....giddyup Giganto!
Although I do have one more question....do I still have to stop when based by Giganto, and therefore would have to break away to move on top of him? It's not a huge issue if I do, since Namor has flight and Hulk has Leap/Climb most of the time, but worth asking.

(It's not stated in the rulebook one way or another, so it's probably not allowed, though I don't see why when both blocking terrain and walls can be broken down. And save for the ability to stand on elevated terrain, I don't see what the difference is. I figured I might as well try it, though.)

To answer the rules questions (Sorry, I should have anticipated these!) the Defenders would still have to stop in adjacency and roll breakaway from Giganto as normal. Nobody said climbing a giant dragonwhale would be easy.
And Wakanda is correct, Elevated terrain can't normally be destroyed. But, since you are both willing to embrace more scenario rules and the elevated terrain on this map does just represent debris floating on the water, I think adding in a late rule that allows it to be destroyed would be fine. Only stipulation on that is that Elevated terrain cannot be attacked if there is a character occupying that particular square... that wouldn't make sense.

The beast did not take kindly to being climbed on like a child's playset, and twisted it's body to turn the unjolly green giant into the filler of a hulk sandwich, smashing him between its body and a nearby rock. Not content to stay put, he opened his mouth and rammed forward at Valkyrie with the intention of trying to eat her. But the warrior was too quick and alert, ducking under the monsters maw and letting it instead smash its teeth together around a rock pillar.

Another bellow, and Giganto again smashed the Hulk against the rock, bringing him nearly to unconsciousness. Satisfied, he turned his attention to a new annoyance. Swimming away from the other Defenders, Giganto attempted to shake off Namor, but failed thanks to the sea king's determination, experience, and plain good-old fashion death-grip. Even so, he remained nimble enough in on his home turf to swing around and avoid getting crushed between the tail he was hanging onto and yet another rock pillar.

There's always the chance of getting a Crit Hit though. Plus you can't use Sidestep unless you can make an attack at the end of it I believe, so it worked out pretty well.

The monster refused to give in, even as the rightful king of Atlantis struck home with a mighty blow. It only served to further enrage the beast, who slammed the entirety of it's body against Valkyrie in it's efforts to removed the man from it's back, an attack she could not avoid and took the full brunt of. Following her was Hulk, who was hit by the end of it's wildly swinging tail. In his weakened state, the green goliath was unable to stay in the fight.
And yet Namor hung on, determined as ever to emerge victorious...
Giganto, Turn 7
*Giganto uses Duo Attack
**Attack 1 vs Valkyrie, 9 vs 17. Attack roll is 5,6 (11), hitting for 3 damage! Valkyrie is KOed.
**Giganto uses Sidestep. Breakaway roll from Namor is 2, he's carried along. Giganto moves to O16/17.
**Giganto attacks Hulk, 9 vs 14. Attack roll is 6,6, critical! Attack hits for 3-1(Duo)+1(Crit)-1(Toughness) for 2 damage. KOed, so no knockback.
So it comes down to Giganto vs. Namor. How strangely appropriate...

Actually, the plan was originally to step two squares away from Val and attack her from a position where she couldn't retaliate, but when I realized I was carrying Namor around and could simply pull him away from his shared defense...
And yet, I completely looked over the whole -1 damage thing. Go figure.

Defenders, Turn 7
1) Namor will push to use Mind Control on Giganto and convince him to go back to the abyss. AV of 10 +1 for riding him vs DV of 15. Needs a 4. Rolls an 8 (2+6). He'll send Giganto home to O24. Subby gets 1 IAP/TAP for the MC and 2 for the KO.
And that's game! Thanks Space Jawa, it was a close one. And thanks to Gargan for creating and setting up the game. One of the best tests of how good a scenario is is how close the game is in the end, although of course luck always plays a part as well.

Wow...that's a lot of upgrades.
After this I am going to minimize my upgrades and instead stockpile my TXP to work towards recruiting the Surfer. :) Hulk will still need to be upgraded regularly (it irks me that he is currently less powerful than Namor), and Nighthawk desperately needs upgrading, but the rest of my team is all at pretty nice versions now. Certainly a lot more playable than when I started.

Epilogue:
The brutish Hulk was not deterred by the size of our foe. Indeed, it seemed merely to raise his ire even more. Exerting his powerful legs, he leaped onto the creature's head and began to bash into it. Giganto roared in displeasure and threw back its mighty head, flipping the Hulk into the air and snapping its jaws closed on him.
I turned to the King of Atlantis, astonished at how easily the Hulk was defeated. He merely smirked. "Good riddance. That oaf was more trouble than he was worth."
"But how can we hope to triumph where the mighty Hulk has not?" I asked him.
Namor merely raised a sculpted eyebrow quizzically. "Woman, this is my realm. Here in the ocean, none can best the one true Sub-Mariner!" With that he lifted me out of the water and we flew straight at the giant. As we drew near I leaped from his grasp with Dragonfang drawn and plunged it deep into the creature's side, creating a large gash. It roared again and flung me aside, and then the altantean struck hard.
"Back to the abyss with you!" He cried as he grasped its head and wrenched it around. Its great eye glared at him, and he stared right back at it in a battle of wills like none I have ever witnessed. Finally, the battle rage in the creature's eye subsided. The brutish creature submitted to Namor's will, allowing him to turn it around back to the depths from whence it came.
Namor flew down to where I was floating in the water, smiling triumphantly. "As I said."
His arrogance is infuriating, but I cannot deny his worth as a warrior. "Well fought." I replied. "But what of the Hulk?"
Namor sneered. "I doubt that Giganto will find him easy to digest. He will most likely vomit the brute out at a later time. Come...let us return to Atlantis. I would know what your mystical friend has discovered."
