Okay boys and girls, here we have ourselves a rather unique Rock Wars, focusing on songs from the TV Show, Glee. If youre unaware of what this is, sorry I ain't explaining it to you here :), but I can almost guarantee that if you listen to the songs provided within, you won't be disappointed.
As always, these songs will be pitted against one another, Match by Match, Round by Round, weeding them all out until they get to the FINAL MATCH, which will have our two favorite Glee songs face against one another to see which one emerges as Grand Champion of our latest Rock Wars!
As always, this TOC should be voted using a very simple criteria, which song do YOU like more, which do YOU feel you would rather listen to, and which would YOU say is ultimately more deserving to move on.
Pretty basic really. Songs are matched up, you all vote on the one you like more, the winner goes to the Next Round, and we do this over and over again until the Rounds are Over. I do ask that you all give objective opinions and votes here, listening to All songs and arguments here within this TOC with an open mind, beginning to end, and base your honest votes from that.

I feel like mentioning that I have a special hate for My Life Would Suck Without You, though, Glee or not, which even trumps my general Beatles hate.

Songwise I would choose Imagine in a second, but after listening to the links this version of Imagine is not very good at all, it is a bit like listening to kid who has been given too much positive reinforcement trying too hard to sing way too pretty. My Life Would Suck is an average performance of an average song and I will take that over a terrible performance of a great song any day.

I was surprised to see that I actually kinda liked My Life Would Suck Withoput You and agree with Lensnart that it's better then the cover of Imagine.
My life would suck without gets my vote - HANDS DOWN!
I love the routine they do to this song as well.

I'm just curious, are all these matches going to be covers or are there going to be original songs?
There are no original songs in the first half of Glee, except for 3 mashup songs (Hair/Crazy, Halo/Walking on Sunshine, and It's my life/My Confessions, the rest are established rock, pop, country, and showtune songs, done in a choral arrangements/glee club style.

These are two of my personal favorites. Imagine had more impact in context though. The soundtrack version is good, but it's not the same. Had you asked me before Glee whether I'd ever choose a Kelly Clarkson song over a John Lennon song I would no doubt have laughed. Yet here I am doing it. And it's not a vote against Imagine. It's a very strong vote for My Life Would Suck Without You. I really, really like that song.
What the heck, Ill cast a vote for the clearly slaughtered Imagine. Its a beautiful song thats sung beautifully here IMHO. Sure it doesnt have the upbeat tone or vibe of its opponent, but its a great song that I feel was handled very well by the cast here.

Yes, it is a very beautiful song. But one line in the song is:
"Imagine no possessions, I wonder if you can"
Pretty sure my ginormous Heroclix collection counts as "possessions" so I'd feel a little dirty voting for Imagine.
Knowing how badly my life would suck without Heroclix, on the other hand...
Sheesh, never thought classic lines from an iconic song like Imagine would be dismissed when compared to ones Heroclix collection. :p

No, no! Not dismissed! Not at all. In the face of my gluttony of plastic possessions I could not honestly vote for Imagine - I'm violating one of the key tenets of the song!

I hate Kelly Clarkson as much as the next person. But "My life would suck" just made the kiss that much awesome.

Seriously folks, read this article (http://www.stylusmagazine.com/articles/weekly_article/imperfect-sound-forever.htm), and you'll have some idea of why this music makes me cringe. And, you might be surprised to learn, it has a lot more to do with production ethics than content.
A half-hearted vote for Imagine to advance.

It's not about musical taste. It's about production values and excessive pitch correction and the simple loudness of much of the music recorded today. Listen to "Bad Romance" through a decent equalizer and no amount of tweaking can completely remove clipping at high volume. Or those American Idol straight-to-iTunes tracks. Good golly, are those things mixed hot. I think Glee is cute, and I'll be voting in most, if not all of the matches. But it hurts my ears to hear that much compression in any audio track. To be fair, I've got a quality pair of Sennheiser headphones here at work, so it's entirely possible that I'm having a completely different listening experience than folks tuning into these tracks with earbuds.
