View Full Version : Nekron
With Nekrons SP pulse wave, does it mean that all characters are KB regardless if they normaly can't be KB?
Terror of a Dark God: Nekron can use Pulse Wave as if he had a range of eight. After the Pulse Wave action is resolved, each character hit is knocked back two squares. This knock back can't be ignored.
If it only affects figures with Charge then whats the point for adding the KB can't be ignored part, since Charge is ignored anyway during PW.
I know as is it's just normal KB for figures that would normally take it, but my question is did GD mean for all figures to be GB?(first time i wanted an answer from nbperp...... nooooo i'm turning into one of the ;))

i think that it also effects duos and dbl based figures as they both don't take knockback.

And giants. And colossals. And Volstagg.
So at least six different categories of characters ignore knockback; there could be others by SP that I'm not aware of.
that is the thing they don't don't ignore KB they just can't be knocked back, this is why i am asking will it include all those people or not?
Since there is a difference in ignore and just can't do.

I would say that this is worded for the fact of characters such as duos, double-based and Giants. I know there is a difference in "ignore" and "can't do", but for your main point I would say you are in the correct line of thinking
Since PW ignores powers in the range of it, there would be no reason to add this, because Charge would be ignored. However, by adding that, they can say that everyone is knocked back that is dealt damage.
IMO, the power should have been worded as:
" After the Pulse Wave action is resolved, each character that is dealt damage is automatically knocked back two squares"
Still argument-based, but would get around the double-based,giant, duo thing.
If I were to put the feat Immortal Contempt on Nekron and use the Pulse Wave granted by Terror of a Dark God, and there were multiple opponents within the range, would he get multiple +1's to his attack? Obeying the rule of 3 of course.
Immortal Contempt:
Choose a Character. The Character modifies it's attack value by +1 when attacking a character without the Deity or Cosmic keyword that has a point value less than it's own

No. Is Nekron attacking a character without the deity or cosmic keywords that are lower points then Nekron? Yes? Then +1 to attack. It doesn't say +1 per such and such a character, just +1.
As an interesting side note, as worded it looks to me like Nekron would be able to get a +1 to a pulse wave attack against a character of higher points just as long as the attack also targeted a character of lower points without the keyword since it just says that if the condition is met his attack is modified.

nope we have had previous rulings that you only get the bonus for the characters that meet the pre-req.
so according to what ive read here, heres my understanding, a normal character with pw that rolls dbls on a successful hit causes kb to characters with charge because it ignores powers, so according to that idk how to draw a conclusion

I thought somebody might say that. The ruling(s) you're talking about is multi-target pulse wave and/or dual target ranged attack with Vendetta, right?
Let's compare!
Prerequisites: {fist}, {shield} and {starburst}
Choose a character.
At the beginning of your first turn, choose an opposing character with a point value greater than this character. Modify the attack value of this character by +1 when it is making close or ranged combat attack against the chosen character. If this character defeats the chosen character, you score additional victory points equal to half the chosen character's point value. If the chosen character defeats this character, the chosen character's controller scores additional victory points equal to half this character's point value.
VS:
Prerequisites: Deity keyword.
Choose a character. The character modifies its attack value by +1 when attacking a character without the Deity or Cosmic keyword that has a point value less than its own.
The nature of Vendetta is that it chooses a specific character, and only grants the benefit against that single chosen character. Immortal Contempt doesn't force any such choice, and as such is more than half again as "expensive".
Could this be ruled against my position? Sure, but I've learned that similar precedence isn't always enough.

Sure, but I've learned that similar precedence isn't always enough.I think the more valid precedent would be the ruling for Inside Information. When the character attacks an opposing character that has any of the keywords possessed by the characters, modify the character's attack value by +2. When used with a multi-target ranged attack, this was ruled to modify the attack value only when compared to the defense values of targets with the identical keyword.
I believe Immortal Contempt would be ruled the same way (if it hasn't already).

Ahh, great point. Agreed and repped.
