Hers her power
Improvise:Whenever Madamoiselle Marie KO's an Opposing Character, put an Improvise token on her card if she doesn't have one already. If an attack roll made by her misses, but is not a critical miss, you may remove an improvise token to automatically hit instead.
Just to make sure..... the automatical hit only makes your attack role succeed right? They still get to roll thier Impervious and SS rolls right? I hope not, but it is what it is.

Super Senses, Mastermind, and damage reducers still apply. The power doesn't mention anything about damage being penetrating or unavoidable.

I'm pretty sure you'll be right, but I could see an argument for Super Senses not working since a successful SS roll means you don't hit and the power says "to automatically hit".

same with impervious, though the second part reducing damge would still apply

With supersenses, yes you get your roll out. Thats how it works. Someone hits you with a successfull attack, and you change that hit to a miss. Improvise helps on the roll to hit only, no other modifiers. I mean, do you really need more? :>

Both parts of IMP reduce damage. There is no "evade" roll for (not since... Indy?) This is why you roll SS but not IMP against Mind Control, INC, ect.

From the Powers and Abilities card (emphasis mine):
SUPER SENSES When this character is hit by an attack, roll a d6 before damage isdealt. On a result of 5 or 6, this character evades the attack.
IMPERVIOUS (NON-OPTIONAL) When this character is dealt damage, roll a
d6. On a result of 5 or 6, the damage dealt is reduced to 0. On a result of 1–4, the
damage dealt is reduced by 2.
It looks to me based on the PAC wording, that SS evasion applies when a Hit occurs (i.e. your not missing a hit, their power is Evading the hit), and Imperv avoidance applies when Damage occurs (not when a hit occurs). Both would apply against MM's special power.

Because you get your Senses roll for Critical Hits (which automatically hit), you would also get it for this.

That's what I figured, But I know it's gonna come up sometime, so I wanted to get this out the way.
P.S. I still love this figure.

repped you for quoting rules. You are exactly right.

Rep for that.
I knew it'd work like this, but my sleepy brain couldn't figure out "why" just yet.
Still think this question will pop up enough to have a PG entry though...

Assuming that the text for the power is 100% accurate (I pasted the above from 1st post), I would say that the most important part of that second sentence would be the words "attack roll". If the roll is too low to hit, you can use Imrpovise to make it hit. If the attack roll is high enough to hit, then you can't use Improvise. And because SS will only trigger if the attack roll is high enough, the second part of Improvise can't be used.
Edit: also what BigDaddyHub said....

you are correct sir! i always think about it as evading the attack, not reducing damage. need to change that...

one should also note, a roll of 2 6's is considered an Automatic Hit (as well as a critical hit, which is a seperate mechanic), by the rulebook as well, same wording as MM's special power, and as we all know, critical hits can be evaded, Impervioused, Masterminded, etc.
now, i have a question based along this- If she misses and uses her improvise token, can you Probability Control this non-rolled hit?

Good question, as a judge I would rule NO since there is no die roll being made here.
Again, from the PAC (emphasis mine):
Probability Control:...Using the same rules, once per round during an opponent’s turn, this character allows you to force that opponent to reroll one of his or her dice (or die) rolls and to ignore the result of the original roll.
No die roll made, therefore no chance for PC.

You can PC the attack to make her attack successful so that she doesn't use the token. Other than that, if she misses and removes the token, there's nothing PC can do for you.
PROBABILITY CONTROL Once during your turn, this character allows you to reroll
one of your dice (or die) rolls and to ignore the result of the original roll. All dice used in the original roll
must be rerolled. A character using this power must be within 10 squares of the character for which the
original roll was made, and have a clear line of fire to that character. A character can use this power on
itself. Using the same rules, once per round during an opponent’s turn, this character allows you to
force that opponent to reroll one of his or her dice (or die) rolls and to ignore the result of the original roll.

If she is attacking you, you could prob the roll in hopes of a crit miss. Then she couldn't use a token to make the hit. But it is a long shot.

Good point, practically insane to try but if it saves you the game (she'll KO your last piece for example), go for it!
