My DC set, featuring all the "Essentials".

I'd do away with generic keywords, and roll all the various JLA keywords into a single "JLA" keyword.

I love the Batman. Perfect. Wall-to-wall willpower, a "trait" leap/climb that he can use while charging or running shotting, and tons of outwit, plus dual TAs. I think the Mastermind is a little weird, since it seems in game like it will usually be used so that Robin or a GC Detective bites it while Bats keeps fighting, but it's not totally unbelievable and I can understand wanting to keep his defense down by not giving him any Combat Reflexes, and keep his cost down by minimizing clicks of Super Senses or Toughness.

The Superman is probably the most comic accurate version of The Big Blue Boyscout ever printed. Sadly, that makes him terrible. I know it's accurate for him to "hulk up" as an enemy proves more threatening, and I imagine we're all spoiled by the 13 HSS speed, 13 attack, impervious 5 damage monsters we frequently receive, but it does make this Superman compare poorly to others. I guess it's the rough balance on some characters, though: you have to balance comic accuracy, playability, and a character that "feels" or "behaves" like the character in game. It's hard to hit all three. Your Batman is comic accurate and highly playable, but mastermind doesn't "feel" right. Your supes is comic accurate and "feels" perfect, but his playability suffers.

Sorry, end rant. I love most of the other dials. It'd be nice to see some move and attack on Catwoman, but I understand the cost issue with her too. It also seems like there is a lot of defend in this set, on a team of characters who will frequently be together, which feels like a bit of a waste of points. Overall, excellent stuff though!

On reflection, Mastermind doesn't really fit that well. It's a relic from a "JLA Strategist" Bats I has swimming about my mind. For an essential, definitive version it is a bit off. I'd probably remove it; and keep him at 100, because I think he's already very good for his point cost.

The Superman is probably the most comic accurate version of The Big Blue Boyscout ever printed.

Sadly, that makes him terrible.

I'd disagree. He's brilliant for 200 IMO. The Super Breath special power is massively powerful. And bear in mind he has Super Strength as a trait, so he's still hitting for 3/4 damage on the first click.

It also seems like there is a lot of defend in this set, on a team of characters who will frequently be together, which feels like a bit of a waste of points.

I don't think that's really an issue; defend only features on GL, Supes and Bats - all of which would be wrong without it.

Also, that Connor is good, but I'd rather see him with the Superman Ally TA than the JLA one. An essential version of Connor ought to have his X Ray Vision, right?

I left it off considering he had trouble accessing his Kryptonian powers. I'd prefer to see him be able to work with his Young Justice team-mates.

Given that most of his YJ teammates are Titans now, giving him Titans would allow him to work with the even more effectively. Keep him having the YJ keyword for theme team use, but the JLA TA doesn't really make him "work with" them any better, IMO.

OK, I don't mean to "rain on your parade" but I have noticed that you and I have diametrically oppossing concepts of characters in clix form. As if stands, with what you have posted, I can honestly say I wouldn't buy a single booster from this set.

I seriously mean no offense it's just that you and I are on opposite sides of the fence here.

I understand there are a lot of people here that like your dials, I am not one of them (it seems), but I applaud your efforts and wish you only the best.

I think it would actually get used alot, because it has willpower and hypersonic speed/carry.

Your dial is too powerful in comparison to the rest of the dials, especially the second click. His versatility is what makes him 80 points, if he had the same versatility and dials as powerful as that he'd be broken.

Although, that said, the marine animal trait balances it somewhat, because you'd actually have to actively seek out water terrain to use the dial.

I love the Batman. Perfect. Wall-to-wall willpower, a "trait" leap/climb that he can use while charging or running shotting, and tons of outwit, plus dual TAs. I think the Mastermind is a little weird, since it seems in game like it will usually be used so that Robin or a GC Detective bites it while Bats keeps fighting, but it's not totally unbelievable and I can understand wanting to keep his defense down by not giving him any Combat Reflexes, and keep his cost down by minimizing clicks of Super Senses or Toughness.

The Superman is probably the most comic accurate version of The Big Blue Boyscout ever printed. Sadly, that makes him terrible. I know it's accurate for him to "hulk up" as an enemy proves more threatening, and I imagine we're all spoiled by the 13 HSS speed, 13 attack, impervious 5 damage monsters we frequently receive, but it does make this Superman compare poorly to others. I guess it's the rough balance on some characters, though: you have to balance comic accuracy, playability, and a character that "feels" or "behaves" like the character in game. It's hard to hit all three. Your Batman is comic accurate and highly playable, but mastermind doesn't "feel" right. Your supes is comic accurate and "feels" perfect, but his playability suffers.

Sorry, end rant. I love most of the other dials. It'd be nice to see some move and attack on Catwoman, but I understand the cost issue with her too. It also seems like there is a lot of defend in this set, on a team of characters who will frequently be together, which feels like a bit of a waste of points. Overall, excellent stuff though!

I feel with Shape Change there'd be too much going on at once, and make him annoyingly hard to damage. I hate having too many powers at my disposal at once, and I hate when it feels like it's a massive effort for a character to be hit, just makes the dial annoying to play.

But then, she's a great close combat fighter aswell, there shouldn't really be a particularly strong bias between her being better at range or close. I think both are reflected in her generally high defence value and equal amounts of ESD and CR.
