Hey Gang,

Alright - I have experimented to the fullest extent of experimenting, and I am at my wits end!

What do you use to coat your figs? I have used the following with the proceeding results:

Polyurethane: OMG shines too bright, and gives an extra layer to the fig - YIKES

Testors Acrylic Dull Coat - Flat finish, some shine, somewhat impressed by the product, but argue about the size of the can vs the price

Krylon - Gloss and Satin - Shine Shine Shine - not everyone is wearing ARMOR - JESUS

Rustoleum Matte - Went on relatively thick, and dried with somewhat shine like results.

I have yet to try Krylon Flat - I was very little luster, but enough to make the paint job on the figure look legitimately nicer, and help secure it during play.

What do you use?

(MYKE! If you could chime in, that would be EPIC! If not, I will FB you this thread!

I use Armory clear matte sealer for my stuff. Just a few passes over the fig and you're good to go.

I bought some spray Dull Cote and have used it on every non-shiny figure I've done since. It seems perfect for HeroClix. Haven't experienced the cost issue, though, since the store sent me three cans when I only bought one.

haha fair enough!!! I am retrying the matte rustoelum right now - if it fails, i might have to break down for the dullcoat

if you go to a gaming store that sells miniatures and paints, they'll have some decent sealers. Try a Games Workshop store if there are no other hobby stores around (GW products are a bit pricier, but usually very good).

zero,

I saw some today at the local comic shop (they do a TON of warhammer/gamesworkshop/citadel stuff) I'll pick some up at the end of the week and do just that. Right now, I am going through some painting guides for warhammer, trying to find out what they suggest

I concur with Armory Clear Matte.

If you can't find that, use the GW gloss coat and then go over with the matte. Gloss has the most protection, and putting the matte over it once iot dries will dull it to no longer be shiny.

Thanks for the heads up Algrim
