I was thinking the another day. They have a standard size symbol and a giant symbol for figures. Why not have a small symbol for character like Atom, Antman, Wasp, Shrinking Violet, YellowJacket, etc? I think it would be cool to have it. They can all have a power saying "fits in the palm of your hand" and it would let other characters with the carry ability not have to reduced their movement by 2 when carrying this character. Another rule I can see would be that charcters with the small symbol don't block line of fire. It's just I cool idea I think. What about you guys?

I like it. At first I thought the number of characters that would deserve it would be too small to warrant adding it to the game. Then I thought of Sharpshooter... Why is it we have so few of them again?

well if they no longer block line of fire then people won't be able to use them at REALLY tiny human shields
I like the idea of having a 'small' symbol. Rep to you!

I've been saying this since they released Infinity Challenge in regards to Wasp and Ant-Man. Then when giants were launched in Mutant Mayhem, I said it again. And I just literally said it again 2 days ago on Monday at work to my friend Stryphe, another HeroClix player.
One of my complaints I've always had is using the Wasp or Ant-Man to carry the Hulk.
It would be a great idea.
Tiny Symbol as I have imagined it:
Tiny Size: This figure cannot use the Carry ability, regardless of any other symbol it may possess. All other figures can carry a Tiny figure except for other Tiny figures, and those characters do not receive a penalty to their Movement Value. This figure does not block LOF other figures.
Wall Crawl: This figure can move through indoor walls. (My Note: To represent the figure being able to go through ventilation shafts, under doors, etc.)

This is a brilliant idea. It would certainly add a new element to games featuring characters to whom a symbol such as this could be applied to. Speaking of Giants I think that the next time Mr. Fantastic is in a set he should have a whgite power granting him the giant symbol to represent the heights he can strech himself.

I also think some characters should have a white power saying they can choose to have the small, standard, or giant symbol (antman, wasp, etc). They can pick at the beginning of the game or a power action during the game as many times during that game.

These tiny characters should be able to be carried by anyone for no reduction in cost. How many times have I seen Ant-Man or the Atom jump on the shoulder of a teammate and ride them into battle? A ton.

Might change the wording a bit, but other than that I like it!
How I'd love to see The Flash running into battle with The Atom on his shoulder! He drops Ray off and Ray gives the guy a sinus headache!
I like the idea, you dont always need to block LoF to be an effective Tie-Up piece.

This is a very good idea. I'm surprised it hasn't come up more frequently as a suggestion. I've seen it in other iterations, mainly as the "how in the hell can the Wasp carry the Hulk" type comments. Overall, I think this would be a good mechanic. I'm definitely going to try to add it to our "house rules".

Great idea. Very clever. I like the not blocking lof, anyone can carry them, they can not carry. Cool stuff. Rep.

I've always thought the same thing (in fact i think just about every one has). No carry, don't block lof, anyone can carry them. I really don't know why they never did it.
Hank Pym: At the begining of each of your turns choose giant or small symbol. He possesses that until your next turn.
I like it.
It's a great idea, but I am not sure we need a whole new symbol on the base to represent it. Perhaps just make it a Trait on the figures that need/deserve it?

I've been playing Heroclix since Infinity Challenge released, and I have to admit--I've NEVER thought of this. Even when the Giant Symbol arrived--I DIDN'T think of it.
Although I am now embarrassed, there is rep forthcoming.

The Tiny trait. This works, easy to implement....
I'm bringing this up Sunday at our next BatB sealed, see if the group wants to try it out as a house rule...
:g-giant:
Remove the giant shape and you have the tiny symbol...

This game has needed rules for figure sizes since Infinity Challenge. Top-notch suggestion.
I'd suggest making some move powers, like leap/climb and phasing, into movement TYPES as well.

Making a new size symbol is a great idea. (I know this because I thought of it a long time ago)
Mine was "A tiny character may be carried by any character at no penalty. Each square of hindering terrain counts as two squares when counting range and tiny characters never block line of fire."
I like phasing as a type as well

I really like the idea
Since we are really discussing this, what do you think should happen to break-away. Would you add to break-away rolls or decrease them.
You could argue both ways, for increasing the break-away rolls because they are small and hard to see getting away. However, an arguement the other way would be, because they are small they are easy to contain (putting under a glass or holding down with your thumb)
I would vote for minusing from the break-away roll

I wouldn't have small characters lock people up in close combat at all. (think leap/climb, but for them and everyone else too)
hindering terrain should be twice as hindering for them, though. and anyone can carry them without penalty. Fliers and giants could carry them AND a normal sized figure. They basically tag along.
_______
another great addition for these mechanics:
SHRINK RAY!
you could add a superpower for people who can shrink others, moving their size down a type and marking it with a special token.

To maintain status quo, would tiny fliers be able to carry tiny characters on foot? Or would tiny characters not be able to carry, period?
Also, I would say they break away, and are broken away from, automatically.

I like the idea, but such characters shouldn't be able to "tie-up" opposing characters that are larger than themselves. Of course, Special Powers or Traits could add the ability to "tie-up" opposing characters when appropriate.
The "tiny" size symbol could be an "atom" symbol. :)

I think giants should interact with each other as normal, tiny characters interact with each other as normal, and standard characters would as well.
Tiny fliers carrying tiny grounded, ergo:
Tiny grounded hitching a free ride with anyone.
Giant fliers carrying everyone.
Giant grounded carrying standard grounded.
Standard fliers carrying standard grounded.

Stealth, CR, ESD, Phasing and Super Senses are all good representations of 'Small' size. Characters subtracting 2 from their movement to carry him/her could represent them going slower and being careful not to drop the the Small guy. As for lines of fire, characters wouldn't want to risk hitting the Small Guy---well for ranged combat attacks for friendly characters at least...
I don't think the symbol would realy be necessary...I think :star:TRAITS:star: can compensate.

Be fair: being REALLY BIG got a symbol, so why can't being really small have it's own symbol?

I'm ok with it being a trait or symbol. I don't think they should all have a defense power like super senses or combat reflexs. I do think that small figures would follow the same break away rules as giants. They break away on a 3-6. I think that is what giant break away on. They would really have to be careful how they would do it.

I don't think there should be any change to the hindering modifier. Perhaps they can move under a bush faster than someone can move through it or around it. I don't think we should add extra rules if they're not needed. In this case, I don't think it's needed. Leave it elegant and simple.

brush maybe but what about broken wall rubble?
The "tiny" size symbol could be an "atom" symbol. :)
I thought about an "ant". Perhaps because i'm more "Marvel" than "DC".
But i like the idea.
john_mackelvey
04/29/2010, 08:57
well it can't be biased towards either Marvel or DC so a neutral symbol would have to be found. Perhaps a magnifing glass or just a dot like the one in the middle of the dial?

Well this is one of the major things that has hindered comic accuracy from day 1...
I'd love a Wasp that could go from tiny-size to giant-size and back.
