Ive sat by long enough and listen to sheer idiocy about how people arent REAL fans because they call Cable CABLE and not Soldier X. In the words of Strong Bad... "Survey says...YOUR AN IDIOT!"

If I call him Nathan WILL YA feel better?
Nathaniel Summers is CABLE. PERIOD.
Wade Wilson is Deadpool. PERIOD.
Its nonnegotiable. I dont care what the legalities say.
Long live the merc with a mouth !!!

It Deadpool and Cable or tied down...cant they just make clix of Nate Summers and Wade Wilson?

Side Rant: Infinity challenge my rear end. Why do we have 9 Elektra's without one Magus, Surfer , Drax, Pip, Warlock, Captin Marvel....Name the set correctly next time eh? If your going to theme it...do it properly.

Ahh, deal with it. =p

I stated that once, and you think it's in error? You think a current fan of those two characters isn't aware of their current standing?

Perhaps you should rethink your fandom!:D

As far as them being able to call them by their real names? Don't know about that, I'd suggest to you that you pick up an Agent X or Solider X to see if they use there former 'real names', would most likely answer that.

And he still has a mouth. =p Agent X is pretty funny if you ask me. (I never read Deadpool myself, but would be willing to look into it if he was like that, thought he was a more.. serious character..)

Brother, you are free to do whatever you want and to say whatever you want. The problem is, Marvel and Liefield are dealing with intellectual property rights, and those are trickier than Arcade's Murderworld.

This is the first I've heard of some great fan debate. On which message board is this grand skirmish taking place? I'd love to see what's going on with it.

And to answer your final question, WizKids COULD do a Nate Summers Clix, but the likeness rights may not be hashed out, and so who do they pay licensing fees to? If character redesigns are the order of the day so that Deadpool and Cable don't look like how Liefield drew them, then would "old" fans care? It seems to create more problems than it's worth, doesn't it? Especially when you think about other armored cyborgs with guns (like Deathlok) that are flat-out owned by Marvel and hassle free that would do the same thing, Clix-wise. Also have a potentially larger fanbase since Deathlok has been around since the seventies.

I'm just trying to see both sides of it all.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm in no way a 'fan' myself.. but I work at a comic shop. :D So I just know what's going on with the silly little thing.

I mean, Liefield could always Opt them up for IndyClix I suppose.. if he was feeling.. giving.

His original thing was something I mentioned in one of the other threads.. I mean.. I see all of these people claiming to be these guys 'biggest fans' ..and yet they don't even know why their comic is gone? Seems a big.. fishy to me. but whatever, eh?

And that is why the comment was made. I think it takes a lot more then reading a few books now and then to be a 'Fan'atic. =p not that I really care if you are or not.. it all just gets a bit old.

Serious? Hehehehehehe..... There are serious aspects to the character, but his mouth puts Spidey to shame. :) My fav comic qoute of all time is from him:

(while fighting Juggernaut)

Jaggernaut: No one stops the Juggernaut!!

Deadpool: Right. No one besides the X-Men, Spider-man, Thor, the Hulk......

(and no, it might not be exact. It's been 5 years since I've read it)

Hmm, I guess I do have an old X-Men comic with him making an appearance..

(Was working for Tolliver, teleported Juggs and Black Tom to their base.)

And he did his best at making witty remarks!:D

I get it. Thanks for clearing it up for me.
Frankly, I'm not surprised. When you work in the comics industry, you hear a lot of dopey junk. Everyone is an expert. So-and-so has the First Superman comic ever. Comics used to cost a nickel. Blah blah blah.

Can you tell I used to work at comic shops, too?
I'm Austin Books alumnus. Where you currently dispense pop culture?

I in no way claim to be an expert. (This is just something I picked up on when it happened, I infact hardly read comics anymore.:D )

I have a hard time navigating a Wizards comic to find a price for someone..heheh.. (I usually work with the Gaming in our store. Clix, 40k, RP..etc..)

Our shop is located in the small(relitively) industrial town of Kokomo, Indiana. I'm a 'Lackey', which I'm fine with. :D

They had to change their "secret" names aswell, so I doubt they could make figures of Wade and Nate. I'd like to see those figures but I just don't see it happening. Agent X and Soldier X will probably come out... it's a shame too, I liked their original styles way better too. Deadpool is way cooler looking than Agent X...

Hey Dexceus! I have that comic...and he mentions the Xmen twice I think :)
Something like "Sure! Alot of people have stopped the Juggeranaut! Thor, Spiderman, the Avengers, the Xmen..twice"
something like that anyways :)
That also was the comic that probably puts out the best argument in my mind for Juggy to have Charge...he blasts through TONS of buildings on his way to Deadpool in that one :)

call me crazy, but so long as you were to give cable or deadpool feet and maybe reduce the size of their calves then they'd look nothing like leifeld originally designed them. seriously, i've looked through some of my old new mutants/x-force comics and couldn't help but notice that character's feet are almost always mysteriously hidden off-panel or are covered by some sort of cloaking mist. GOD. I HATE ROB LEIFELD. AND I STILL WANT MY COPY OF DEATHMATE: RED. I HATE HIM I HATE HIM I HATE HIM.

...sorry. i just don't like him. which i guess doesn't explain why i still want my copy of deathmate red that i preordered and never got because some dumb bastard from the levi's commercial couldn't stay on the ball and get things done on time. oh well, i'm ranting.

my biggest fear is that indyclix will be nothing but ####py leifeld extreme comics ####py #### ####. its ####.

But Cable and Deadpool fans are a small, vocal group.

I cant say much for cable being how tied into the X-World he was but Deadpool has turned out just fine.Agent X is nothing but Deadpool in a different kind of costume and im glad he is still around and not banished to the realms of comic obscurity like Marrow or my beloved Generation X were

a few questions:

I got back into comics a few months back so explain this stuff to me:

1) You mean Deathmate : Red never came out? Like they just never released it? (on that note, where is Dsredevil: Target #2?!?!?)

2) So is THAT why Deadpool 'died' and cable is now soldier X?! what about Marrow? and that guy who had slug pets?! What's the exact story? Lazy, horrible, no feet, no wrists, clothing pieces changing from panel to panel artist liefeld is suing marvel?!

3) will deadpool/cable ever come back?!

this is so crazy....i am all for power to the people and workers causes, but to stop characters?! I have no respect for rob as an artist anyway, but this is stupid....

i think deathmate red did come out like a year or so after it was supposed to, but i never did get my copy from entertainment this month (ETM). and i don't blame them anyway.
just imagine how disappointed my 12 year old self was when i thought i'd be getting all four issues of the biggest crossover ever at once only to find out that i'd be missing an issue because of some stupid, lazy, levi's-501-wearing, no-feet-drawing, character-recylcling, poor-anatomy-knowing, buck-toothed, piece of s h i t hack. i hate him. i hate him i hate him i hate him.
x-force = youngblood. see for yourself sometime. its fun.

and why the f u c k did deathmate: epilogue come out before deathmate: red? oh yeah, because of some stupid, lazy, levi's-501-wearing, no-feet-drawing, character-recycling, poor-anatomy-knowing, buck-toothed, piece of s h i t hack. i hate him i hate him i hate him.

amazing. he has SOME nerve....i did a google search and yup, they don't want to pay him royalties, so they changed names to anything he ever made....again, i am all for people over profits, but he is a millionaire and enough is enough. his greed/ego are costing the fans....

The following are a few recommended reads for potential Wade Wilson fans:

The Circle Chase: Deadpool limited series. Some darned good work there.

There's another DP limited series, but I can't think of the name of it right now, argh! I can even see the cover art in my mind...

Deadpool issues #1-25. After that, the writing started to become sketchy, even unspeakably horrible at times (consider - a marksman, master swordsman, and killer, someone capable of taking on and beating Wolverine, getting beaten by a pair of sadistic but UNPOWERED teenage girls), until he started teaming up with Taskmaster again.

Deadpool/Daredevil annual - great team up.

Deadpool/Death annual - THE must-read book for would-be DP fans. This one has much of his origin story, specifically his experience in the Weapon X program and what made him call himself "Deadpool."

Deadpool issues 65-69. These give the transition that leads to the Agent X book.

Yeah, I have found that after the first two years most comics go downhill....Sleepwalker, Deathlok...etc etc...

According to Marvel's EIC and a certain "stupid, lazy, levi's-501-wearing, no-feet-drawing, character-recycling, poor-anatomy-knowing, buck-toothed, piece of #### hack" neither Cable nor Deadpool had been bringing in enough money for him to get royalities for quite some time, and changing their names isn't enough to escape paying royalities(should they ever make enough money) since they are still the same characters.

Marrow is now in the comic Weapon X which isn't that great... they also recently killed off Maggot in the series, though one of his slugs hasn't died, so maybe that's a key to his rebirth. I dunno if it was ennie or meenie that lived, however.

It's too bad there are issues about these characters and their liscencing.. I remember when they were both cool characters.. oh well

I liked deadpool's look and cable's older look (altho he looked okay with the beard he got later on) from the 90s.

It would be nice if the liscencing issues could be set aside, and the characters could be restored to the continuity, ah well

Heheh, Liefield art. =p I was reading through a comic he did, and when I originally purchased it.. I didn't understand it.

It was the issue where Stryfe unmasked himself.. and well, he was supposed to look JUST like Cable.. and he did! But that's kinda the problem with Liefield art.. all the guys look like each other. =p (His Gideon/Xavier pics really had me confused at times!, always had to look for Gideon's hear hiding in the back. =p ) Ahh, comic in mention is X-Force #6.On Page two Stryfe has a monitor up with like seven different guys faces on it.. strip them of hair and they'd all be Xavier I say! =p

Ah well.. I like the way he drew the Brotherhood at least. (Though Masque looked like Toad in a cloak.) and they were the reason I picked up that issue..

1. Liefeld will lose.

2. Cable and Deadpool will get their real names back.

3. Marvel will hire ANOTHER "artist" who doesn't even know who Kirby, Byrne, Buscema, Cockrum, or even Sienkiewicz are/were, and who has no respect either for the characters or existing representations or artistic style.

4. Repeat Cycle.

(Anyone remember Steve Gerber...a much better creator, who got a much worse deal...)

Rob Liefield shouldn't have ever been hired to work on a Marvel comic. He was never good enough.

Another fine point I hate about Rob Liefield is that he had a big F U C KING mouth, with no art to show for it. He thought he was hot ####, but was actually flaming ####.

Now .

Im a comic artist and I have respect for any artist in the game, but the truth is its marvels fault for ever giving him a job, not his fault that he sucks.
