View Full Version : What would this collection be worth to someone?

Since my wife and I have our first child on the way, and both of us laid off from our jobs. I am thinking about getting rid of my hero clix since I have no place to play anymore, my wife has no interest in playing it. So I am thinking about selling it. I am just wondering what someone would pay for the collection here instead of me putting it on evil bay, or piece mealing it out. I would rather it go to someone here who would appreciate it, and want a good amount of figures to start a collection, or expand a collection with. Here is the collection, I am just looking for opinions right now, and have not decided if I am going to part with it just yet. All figures have their cards, and are in top loaders to protect the cards.

Sold as a lot $400.00.
Sold individually could fetch $500.00 to up to $600.00.
There, that oughta stir up some responses.

You could do a massive auction like Orin did. He made bank on that thing and everyone got what they wanted. And incredible is right, those items will make more sold separately than together.

Thirded. What they said. An auction is your best bet - as opposed to selling the lot.

Sorry to hear about your financial difficulties :( My buddy had to do the same thing last year. The only reason he was able to get back into the game, was because I bought out a collection from another local player, and I had (literally) thousands of extra figures. I ended up giving him 600-700 figures to restart his collection.

Anyway, I'd agree with the rest of the posters. If you want a quick sale, you'd probably get $400.00-$500.00 for it if you sold it as a lot. The *problem* is that most people don't have that kind of cash to spend at once, or aren't willing to drop it in one go like that.

Sold individually, you could get a lot more for it, perhaps double that, but then you have to take into account the time, effort and energy to run an auction/sale like that. Plus boxing everything up individually, taking it to the Post Office etc etc.

If you are interested in selling it as a lot, I would probably be interested in buying it from you. Send me a PM if you want, and maybe we can work something out. Whatever you decide, best of luck.

Cheers.

start a lot auction at $400 and see where it goes. This will be the best of both worlds for you. Don't have to spend too much time and potentially get more than $400. I would say increment at $10

Put it away and teach your child when he's old enough. You'll appreciate the memories. Then when he's/she's about to have his/her own kids, give it to him/her to let do what he/she wants.

Unless the $400.00 to $500.00 is in dire need, it's not worth it.

Good luck to both of you!

And I would do the second bid.

Hey no proxy bidding for me. Even though I would probably bid on it ;)

I am on this line of thinking...
Why sell something now when your difficulties will (hopefully) be short-lived? I have gotten rid of some things in my past, and I still wish I hadn't. I had a huge Magic collection that I sold off for next to nothing comparatively, and really, the money didn't do much. I sold off a collection of baseball cards as a teenager that would still be worth a huge chunk of change now. But this is better than comics or cards, it's a game that you love to play and even though you may not have the time to do it right now, you may just have time in the future.

Your choice, but if you really wanted to sell it, my advice is do an auction or ebay them all piecemeal. You will get more for it than selling it as a collection.

Thanks to everyone that has pmd me with advice and well wishes, and to those that have responded here. I have decided to make it easier on everyone that I am going to sell individually. It makes it easier for those who want to buy, and not have to spend alot. I will be putting everything up for sale in the next few days so stay tuned!
