View Full Version : FMR Poll #9: How satisfied are you with the ommission of Feat cards from TB&TB?

Did you miss pulling them from the boosters? If you don't use them or are just a collector, probably not. If you're always looking for new ways to build your team and plan your strategy, then probably so.

I was concerned about the Modern Age format when they first revealed it, but now I love it. The fact that the most played Heroclix in tournaments were cardboard left a real bad taste in my mouth. Bringing power back to the plastic is the way to go.

I agree with you, GrimlockX. I hated the fact that the main and secondary attackers on any team were usually "feated up".

i thought of cardboard as great filler points and a way to personalize your team to a somewhat greater degree, I am completely dissatisfied with the modern age format on this issue. yes they were propably over used but that was a personal choice and they did cost build points so nothing was gained freely. I assume it came from a buisness angle of the cost rather than the playability which i can understand but with the print and play still should not have been an issue.

I miss them as much as event dials, that is to say not at all.

Dissatisfied. At worst, feats were an annoyance to play against (just like Stealth, Wild Cards, Mystics, turtlers, the Meteorite, bad maps, etc). At bests Feats were a way to add comic book spice to characters and round out teams. I miss them (and I didn't even play them that often).

I voted Impartial...
I really like some of the older feat cards... most were fairly simple and usually quite effective... the stuff from the newer sets seemed a bit too conditional or convoluted for my tastes.
So I sort of miss pulling cardboard, but I don't miss some of the weird issues that would come up from the power interactions (ESPECIALLY the Special Powers that had altered/conditional uses).

Honestly, I wouldn't have minded seeing some of the older cardboard reprinted (Auto Regen!), especially as these Feats breathed new life into the older figs.

I like having options for Golden Age, and frankly I miss not having a multitude of ways to bust up Stealth. My options went way down now that I can no longer slap Elite Sniper on someone. It makes building theme teams far more difficult, since anything that relies on range at all will have to use Talia or an Ultimates character or something and rarely fit with the theme.

I have a couple of other issues with the way feats were handled as well. First of all, am I mistaken in thinking that we were told that we would be getting some new print and play feats soon after the set came out? I recall someone posting that they would be online within a few days of the release, and as far as I know they are not.

Second, I like the concept of alternate team abilities but I don't like the way many of them were implemented, especially League of Assassins. It seems very limiting to give a swarm team with a lot of Stealth a feat card that is expensive enough to prevent any generics from being used in low point games since the card forces the team over the 10% feat limit, and beyond that the ability is often fairly redundant.

Anyway, the way feats were dealt with in this set was my least favorite part of it. I can understand not putting them in packs obviously since they're not legal in the set, but I don't feel like enough thought was put into the alternate team abilities.

I like feats. When I have points left over feats help me round things out. Also there are a ton of characters that need the help of feats to really matter. Try running a Sinister Syndicate team (that is the original 5 members) without feats and then see how much more playable feats make them. Too many figs I like weren't done well enough to stand alone. Once people start losing games with big hitters versus outwit I think they'll really start missing Fortitude, that one feat made so many expensive figs worth bringing. Not as much fun to bring a tentpole who gets taken out in a round or two thanks to a couple outwitters.

All that said, my venue has voted to ignore the whole Modern Age thing and stick with the unrestricted-bring-anything-you-own environment we've gotten use to since the game died and we start playing home games. Frankly I've always thought that if I paid for it I should be allowed to play it.

With cardboard in general getting the boot and print & play in effect I have no strong feelings about this subject one way or the other. In fact I'm surprised these were even produced.

I voted dissatisfied, I'll admit feats can be a real annoyance at time (like for awhile every tent-pole I face had a protected shlaped on him) but overall I think they're great, I never used to play them cause I didn't understand how they worked, but once I did it opened up a whole new level of gameplay for me, Just like there's a defense against any feat, if you play right you can beat any feats. That's what I love about this game, no matter how shlanky you try to be, all it takes is some creative playing and a lucky dice roll to turn the tide of battle.

Voted "completely dissatisfied," though this could change if they out of the blue come out with a set of PnP feats for B&B. The set was the ideal time for feats for double-based or duo characters, so I wouldn't want to see that the design team wasn't thinking along those lines.

i'm glad that i no-longer have to ravage the world by tossing away all those useless feat cards!! the only cards i need in this game are the character cards. if the character doesn't have a power, or 'play' like they should, just wait for a remake. special powers make it so you don't need feats, plain and simple!

Stop posting the same polls over and over it is stupid

THE POLLS ARE NOT THE SAME AND SERVE A PURPOSE. IF YOU THINK THEY ARE STUPID DON'T CLICK ON THEM.

I am glad that the feats are gone. So many of them (because of thier wording) missed their intended target and became way to powerful for their cost.

Didn't even notice they were gone. Honestly thought they were on the site for P&P purposes. I am mostly satisfied. They should put something up for Print/Play purposes, I guess. I'm personally done with feats though.

With the advent of special powers I don't think we really feats anymore. I did play vault and lucky break a lot since they were so cheap and could round out a point total.

I voted Satisfied, but I'm mostly impartial. I do like some feats and using them to beef up older figures who need a little boost. But of course there's feats that just really annoy the hell out of me. So it's a double-edge sword in that respect. Regardless, I do think I'd rather they just not be available at all anymore other than the Alternate Team Abilities which are really neat and add a whole new level of play to figures who otherwise don't have a Team Ability or they have one that doesn't work with the rest of your team. It also makes things a bit more theme appropriate in some cases, like with the Legion of Assassins. It makes sense that they would be able to use a wall for cover or be able to hide in up against it somehow. I haven't looked at the other Alternate Team Abilities though so I'm not sure if they all make sense.

If you could make 300pts theme teams without them, I'd be 100% satisfied as special powers cut out the need for FEATs in my opinion

Not with the fact that there not in the boxes, but that Wizkids doesn't want to support them anymore. It's seems lazy on their part. If you remember they did this before in their history. Stopped showing support for what makes their game so unique and thats when they went bankrupt. I hope we are not going down that trend again!
