View Full Version : Winners step forward!
Ok, I am curious what the winners are playing. If your team meets the criteria posted below (under CRITERIA) I ask that you please post it here. This is for those of you who would like to share information with those of us with smaller brains. I know that many of you would like to gaurd your well known secrets, but they probably aren't too well known where it matters: locally. If you have a problem posting, then don't. I would post, but I dont have any teams that meet the criteria (namely number 5).
CRITERIA:
1. Marvel only
2. No house rules affected team build for example:
- Dupes are OK
- Firelord is OK
- All rules exactly per WK rules for tourneys.
3. 300 point build
4. With clobberin Time
5. That you have won LEs with at a wizkids sanctioned tournament (Not sportsmanship awards either). We are working on the honor system so please only post if you have actually met this criteria.
Also include a brief overview of the basic tactics employed by you and what you won.
Thanks and I'm sure many of us (heroclix punching bags) would look forward to seeing what you post.

Won an LE Paibok with this team
http://www.hcrealms.com/cgi-bin/quickviewteam.cgi?teamname=gonnatryit&username=Random&action=graphic
tactics should be fairly obvious
taxi Firelord with Vulture
Taxi Bullseye with Doombot
Free move with Black Cat and Black Panther
Tie up grounded range opponents with Quicksilver
Lead everyone into a PC/Outwit Crossfire
Move in elektra for cleanup
WIN!
This is perfect. Anyone else out there? Come on we have some winners in the crowd, I know it.
Random: Who won 1st place? Do you remember their team?
yeah, that guy had 2 E Firelords 2 Doombots Some version of Bullseye R black Panther ( that I lent him) and a V A.I.M. Medic. I think that's about it. Cheesy team? Sure, but it won. He got an LE Toad

I've won a half-dozen Marvel LEs, but have yet to play at the 300-point level in a tourney; the store that has been running tourneys has used 200 points every time.
My first 300 pointer will be on March 1st, when a second local store gets into running tourneys...

I won a 400 point tournament with this team...
V Thor
R Firelord
V Hercules
R Vulture
E Black Cat
V Aim Medic
First move I would use FL to taxi Thor. Thor would use RS to hit almost anyone on the board. I would push next move to take out almost any fig. Between the two of the they deal out nine damage. Vulture would taxi Herc in to tie up rangers or take out support figs (pesky R Black Panther doesn't stand a chance against Herc). Well, this all depended on who went first and what that first move was.
This team had lots of damage potential and three figs with really deep dials. I would usually be able to take out the other guys biggest offensive threat after two or three rounds. Then just take my time cleaning up. :D
Please feel free to post your team(s) (even though they're 200) It would still be helpful to see what successful tactics at that level are.
And BTW cheesy is good for this thread. As long as it wins!
Thanks everyone.
It's not ALL marvel but you can replace the Booster Gold with a Wasp or second Doombot and get pretty much the same team...
U Nightcrawler 83 pts
E Booster Gold 38 pts
V Doombot 38 pts
E Black Cat 32 pts
E Black Panther 36 pts
V Bullseye 43 pts
R Shield Medic 12 pts
V Aim Medic 17 pts
299 pts
Tactics.
Ferry Bullseye somewhere where he gets a good view of the battlefield. Move Black Cat next to him. Get the Medics near them, next to them if no energy explosion on the enemy team. Use combination of shield and aim abilities to get Bullseye doing sick damage.
Get Black Panther into hindering terrain. Have him outwit. If needed ferry him up to someone for a B/C/F attack.
Nigtcrawler is your big guns (along with bullseye). He gets ferried most of the time to use HSS multi attack with BC's probability control as backup.
Mind you, the current record of this team is a mighty 1-0. Give me a few more weeks, will post a more comprehensive record.

A recent 200-point team:
E Wasp
E Hercules
V AIM Medic
U Nightcrawler
Wasp taxis Herc back and forth between combat and the Medic. Herc's Defense is low, but he starts with 4 damage keeps Toughness down through most of his dial, and has a high Attack for his entire dial. I'm happy to let him get hit, because he still rocks even after a hit from Firelord.
Move out slowly. If your opponent refuses to give you range 8, hit-and-run with Nightcrawler until he does. When he gives you the opportunity:
Turn 1: Taxi in Herc. Herc smashes for 4.
Turn 2: Push Herc. Even if he's taken damage (the odds of this are unlikely if you pick the right target) he's a massive threat. This should ruin the day of anything he's in contact with.
Turn 3: Taxi Herc back to the medic. Heal Herc.
Nightcrawler is the ultimate hit-and-run artist. High attack, 2 damage, high defense, high speed. You can't go wrong. Use him to harry the opposing side's medics or Outwitters.
This placed 2nd in a 9-player tourney a few weeks ago. The only reason I didn't take first place was because the judge gave me a bye in the final round (not understanding that the lowest scores get the byes, not the highest scores).
I've also had good luck with:
U Super Skrull
2 x V AIM Medic
E Wasp
(198 pts)
Super Skrull's the only one who can do any real damage, but that's OK. With his high Attack, first-click Running Shot, first-click 4 damage, Invulnerability and deep dial, he's all you need. Push him constantly until his Defense is 15, then bring him back to the two Medics for two chances at healing.

Just played my 1st tournament.200 pt marval.
R firelord
U wasp
E blackpanther
E pyro or E blackcat(i used Pyro but highly considered blackcat)
E aim medic
I came in 3rd because of bad rolls and a strategic blunder.Killed the first guy with pyro as a loss.Killed the second guy with no losses. And got slaughtered the 3rd and I only killed a E cyclops. His nightcrawler made 3 dangersense rolls,I missed some shots, and should have barriered a door off, did'nt and ended up getting my medic killed.Had U wasp still alive in the 3rd game and should have ran her away and burned out the clock, but duked it out and lost by 40 points(U wasp 44).Thought I had it so I stayed and fought.Hindsite is always 20/20
Use wasp's free move to taxi firelord around and either position panther in some terrain to outwit, assuring that firelord can deliver a hefty blow or use pyros barrier to protect firelord and wasp when you move them in,or use it to barrier off a figure that you just smoked with firelord makeing sure he won't see his medic buddy.Pyro also has a double bolt EE,very useful for any clusters and a 17 defense for 35 pts.I say he's a must in any army.If you make your LEAD roll with wasp than do both.Pyro's brotherhodd ability, and wasps avenger, combined with LEAD now and then made it very easy to move mass figures, set up,or pop off up to 3 attacks. Was really nice in a 200 pt game.It flowed really well.
I won first with this army. I got a Raksor for the prize.
Titania
LE Yellowjacket
V-Whirlwind
V-Bullseye
E-Wasp
R-Doombot
R-Vulture
E-Hydra Medic
I taxied in Titania and Whirlwind with Wasp and Vulture. I used the Doombot to free carry Bullseye and then boost his attack with Hydra ability. Then I would soften up a hard to hit target with Bullseye and then unload with Titania and Whirlwind. I used the MoE team ability with Titania and Whirlwind several times to attack with both of them. The 1-2 combo (and sometimes 1-2-3 with Bullseye attacking first) was particulary devastating. I took out figures like E-Controller and V-Logan in a single turn with this combo.
You realize you're asking for a Marvel only team build in the DC strat area, right? Marvel has their own threads.
