Iron Man movie

Did anyone else see the favorite to play Tony Stark in the upcoming Iron Man movie..........................Leonardo DeCaprio.
Are you kidding me? Granted, it is not final as he has not been offered anything, but he is the favorite supposedly. Its not that I hate Leo, not as Tony Stark. I see the billionaire part, but it still doesn't settle well with me (not that Ben Affleck as DD did either :) )

avengers writer geoff johns picked george clooney as iron man for an avengers movie, he wouldnt be too bad, i agree though looney leo i dont think so, how about spielberg and tom hanks?

Hey, now that I think about it, you're right. At first I had no idea who could play IM, but Tom Selleck would be perfect. He could believably be a playboy with a failing heart!

seleck would be cool but i agree with an earlier statement he has passed the age that he could pull off tony stark. but timothy dalton although getting older everyday would be near perfect as stark. he is a great actor although a ####py james bond.

I like the Timothy Dalton idea. I could see maybe James Cavaziel in the role as a younger Tony. Now, don't laugh, but I also think that Johnny Depp could handle the role as well. He's a fantastic actor and has shown he can handle characters with significant character flaws i.e. Tony's alcoholism. Just give him that pencil mustache and cut his hair.

Avi Arid (sp) is the producer of the marvel film projects (I can't remember his offical title). Hes said many times that if he could get anyone to play IronMan/Tony Stark it would be Tom Cruise.

Cruise would just be okay - Dalton would be better - but I still think Sellek has the right look for the part - even at his age (he's not that old).
He is a very good under rated actor. (did you know he was asked to be Indiana Jones before Ford was approached?)

A couple YEARS ago on Friends they were making jokes about how much old he was then Cournty Cox. In the 80's Sellek would have been good, but not now.

"did you know he was asked to be Indiana Jones before Ford was approached?" - Ya, thats pretty well known. He even shot a couple scenes (there are photos of him in costume out there) but the Studio stepped in and said he could do it because of his contract to do Magum PI.
