note: I originally posted this note in the "Marvel: General topics" forum and I was informed that I should repost it here. If you have read this once already I am sorry. Now...
I'm very upset! The last Inquest was a major rip-off in regards to the headline teaser. I bought the magazine ($5.00) on the basis that they would give me some good ideas for playing Heroclix. Instead I got a half page interview with the "supposed" Heroclix World Champion. Utter ####!!!
I Truly believe that Wizkids should put out their own magazine covering all 3 of their lines. Even though I am only interested in Heroclix, I would read about the other product lines.
They can show sneak peeks, Game Strategies, LE figure offers, and Interviews. Maybe they could get famous comic creators to play the game against one another.
WizKids could utilize the magazine as a PR machine and a tool for market research.
God that would be great!!!!
What do you think? C'mon Wizkids, please do it!!!!

This includes all Klix!!
They could include making of figures. Battle Reports with pictures. Pictures of people playing a themed armies. Could include pictures of conventions and upcoming big Tournaments. Articles that People have written in or even ideas we could see coming up for a specific game.
Not everyone goes on the interent to find out info. This could reach everyone! Even if the magizine was Bymonthly. It would be nice.

I would buy it if they put maps in the middle. Even smaller maps.

I would happily chuck down $5.99 for a Wizkids Magazine. But only if it was full of real content, not just a worthless ad-in-magazine-form.

i'm so up for this. i can't stand inquest's worthless attempt at covering CCGs and minature. don't get me wrong i'm a big fan of Wizard's publications and humor but i'd really like some decent reading material of strategy, new scenarios, fan articles, price guide if you must, (i love the map idea) heck i'd be your first subscriber and i know 5 or 6 other guys (in my play group) who would subscribe too, this could get rulings out in the open more so too.
even if wizkids couldn't make the magazine themselves (remember they make our "toys" not our newspaper :p ) finding a company to do it would be just as good (as long as they listened to the customer as much as wizkids, heck even half as much)
I seriously don't think they could get enough content to fill a monthly mag, and I don't think they could come up with anything timely enough to fill a quarterly mag.
I think if they combined all of their products, every last one of them (right down to creepy freaks), they'd have enough to produce a magazine.
And I'd buy it. No doubt about it.

Ever take a look at White Dwarf. THey can easily get enough content in the Magizine.

Games Workshop has also been around for over ten years, people invest a *lot* more into their figures, they have, what, like ten seperate games, host a *number* of large conventions every year. People invest a lot more time and effort in painting and modding their miniatures, including literally exquisite terrain setups. And most importantly, they created their own universe, so don't have licensing issues that WK would have for writing anything for Heroclix and Shadowrun and Crimson Skies.
Apples and oranges.

1) i would buy a wizkids mag
2) i agree with pmmj that it would be tough to put out a monthly mag ALL about wizkids...
maybe a quarterly
3) i think it would be a good idea to put out a monthly miniatures mag (unlike SCRYE and inquest who also cover CCG's) unless there is one, and if there is i dont know about it

Ahhh yes, Warhammer started in '78, its been around over 20 years. :D ;) :p
But White dwarf has be around more then 20 years also. White Dwarf has 2 real games, warhammer and 40k, and LOTR coming in 3rd. They have several minor games. Some are in production some are not. I think there's only like 5 other that they talk about in White Dwarf and those are not big sections.
Wizkids are starting to have bigger conventions for their products. Why would crimson skies not be able to do anything in write ups? It would take a slight adjust on the contracts and they could easily do write ups on all their products. I think it would be great to here the stories of Themed armies in Hero Klix of Mage Knight. It could even boost sales to comics if putting some recent comic info.
A lot of people like to do their characters here and paint them up so that is modding. How many people would love to see a classic battle scene in molding. Say the scene where master of evil fight the avengers. Where everyone is KO'ed except Cap and Zemo.
Just ideas.

I hope the people at Whizkids are reading these posts.
This is the best idea I have seen on this site.
The mag doesn't have to be that big to start with.
In the beginning it could be a 30 or 40 page mag, out every second month.
As word got round and the popularity grew, readers would begin sending in their own articles.
Hopefully things would start to snowball, increasing the size and regularity.
Players of one game system might be tempted into trying out the others after reading more about them.
Please Whizkids, make this happen.

even if it was only 6 issues a year (once every 2 months) that wouldbe cool too!
Inquest is a cool mag but they need to do some work on what stuff they will cover. They are stretching themselves out to cover everything and it makes them look bad. That ####py Firelord team hasn't won any battles in Marvel tournaments I've played in even after tweaking it. I would pay up to $7 for a good solid HC mag. That probably will never happen but wouldn't it be cool if a bunch of HC Nerds like us got together and put out an HC E Newsletter with some sweet content.

In lieu of a WizKids magazine, I wish there was a free, online place where people could get good ideas for Heroclix and maybe even post ideas on any topic...having to do with...uhmm...
never mind.

I totally agree. As Wizkids continues to expand their games, I see a greater need for a magazine focusing on miniatures. Maybe we could suggest to Scrye that they start a miniatures mag that would focus on not only Wizkids games but Warhammer and LOTR and numerous other miniatures games. They could post tournament news and player articles similar to their CCG mag and I think it would go over well. I do have doubts that Wizkids could support a mag by themselves,(besides, who really thinks it would come out on time?) but a combination of all miniatures games could more than adequately fill up a 150 pg. mag every month. Just a few thoughts.
A man without fear is a man without faith."
I doubt GW would allow anything for their games, since they already have White Dwarf.

They did it again!!! I just bought the latest issue of Inquest because of the Heroclix cover. The cover leads me to believe that they are going to go through the whole set of heroclix because of the "100 figures" statement. But NOOOOOOO! They follow through with the "Top 16" and the "Ultimate team" filler article.
Am I being nit picky or are my feelings of being Bamboozeled shared?
The donate so many pages to Magic and so few to Wizkids products.

I am pretty sure that WizKids owns the rights for Crimson Skies and Shadowrun, being that one or more of the founders was a FASA ninja. If you go look at their company bio at their website, it shows the licsences they own and those they have rights to, and I am 99% sure that they own SR and CS.

I don't know if you can publish enough material for a hero-Clix magazine. I mean really, how many articles can you write on how to beat FLord and discussions on the "World" tournament? :)

Well SHin, it would be all Klix not jsut hero Klix.

Wiz kids wil have nine game universes by this years end and they will probally have twelve to eighteen major setsreleased with another six to twelve minor releases like large figures or adventure sets in between.Eventually as they build momentum over the next year or so this idea for a magazine could easily become reality. They could devote 6 pages to each game universe and print out the dials for sets add a foldout map, chapters from thier novels and comics, special fig mail-aways, and have a teaser page at least bimonthly or quarterly. even reprinting the stratedgy submissions from thier web site would make for great content. the real question is would they be able to sell enough copies to make enough money to make the project worth funding and is the downside risk low enough to attempt it. I think we will see this happen as they continue to grow it gets easier and easier to envision. What may happen sooner is that inquest may start to shift thier focus to heavier coverage of wiz kids products. My guess is that over the last year wizkids has introduced 30 to 40 thousand people to a whole new type of game play and as those numbers grow the potential to make lots of money off of a venture like this gets easier and easier to do.

What about doing something like an online petition to the people at Inquest asking them to devote a few more QUALITY pages to Heroclix in each issue.....Even some half pages with useful army strategies like they do for Magic "Killer Decks".....I mean, from this site alone we should be able to score like ten thousand signatures or so....What do you guys think??? I think it would be easier to influence an existing mag than demand a new one.....

I'm really of two minds on this. There are too many "Scrye", "Dungeon" and "White Dwarf" magazines written by people who act like this is a career choice not a hobby. You know the ones, the unshowered masses who act like they're getting their PhD in Clix. The magazine would need to be a bit like Inquest, not the Duelist. If asz and shinj-go and others were involved, I'd give it a shot. Bimonthly is fine for all Wizkids products.

Actually I would think it would be better if it were more like White Dwarf. THey make an excellent magizine.

I'm all for a wizkids magazine!
Tired of buying inquest with its remarkably false advertising...
Theres nothing more annoying than spending 7 bucks (here in canada) and getting 1 stinking page worth of coverage!
INquest really needs to think about how much they've shown themselves as super rip off artists, and how they created a group of people that are looking for an alternative source for thier lame coverage...
A regular wizkids mag could have reports from all the tournaments, all the articles that are on their website, checklists, pics of the coolest mods, current price guides, interviews....all that on a monthly basis, and I'd be there!
oh, and did I metion...it'd be a great place to publish...FAQS!!!!!!!
ah, ah!?!?!?!?!?
Yo Wizkids!
Hook us up!!!!!

As much as I want a Wizkids Magazine, I really don't think a price guide inside of it is a good idea.
If they put out 6 issues a year, it would be awesome.
