With me writing a series about comic accurate teams you knew it was only a matter of time before I'd dig out my alltime favorite Marvel character and show you some comic accurate teams for him.

To find out what teams and mini-teams your favorite bloodsucker could bring onto the Heroclix map click on Full Story...

Dr. Morbius

Morbius the living Vampire is one of Spider-Man's oldest foes. Always torn between his bloodlust and the struggle to find a cure for his vampiric desease. He has been a villain, a hero, an anti-hero and a villain again. In his long and outstanding comic-book carreer he has made quite a few allies that make for some comic accurate heroclix team-ups:

The first one being Spider-Man, Venom, Black Cat and Cloak during the Maximum Carnage incident...

even leaves 28 points for feats...

Any Morbius appearances (that make for a cool Heroclix team) that I have missed?
Post and let us know.
And as usual...I'll be back in 14 days with more comic accuracy.

Together with Man-Thing and Ghost Rider (Johnny Blaze), Morbius and Werewolf by Night formed the short-lived Legion of Monsters.

Midnight Sons had him, Dr. Strange, Blade, and both Ghost Riders.

In the late 70s/early 80s he was in She Hulks comic. He came up with a potion that let her control her transformations and in exchange she defended him in court on murder charges. She got his sentence for his villainous acts lessened to 5 years since she argued that he had physical urges for blood that neither he nor anyone else would be able to resist.

As Styx says in the next post he helped the WCA in two issues. The roster during those stories were Iron Man, Hawkeye, Wonder Man, Tigra and Mockingbird; Thing and Firebird (as provisional members); Hank Pym (as staff member). Only Hawkeye, Tigra and Mockingbird were in all of both comics, the others came and went on personal business.

I know he was in West coast Avengers early on during the series, helping Tigra with the Cat people.

I do not remember his level of involvement as I last read it over 20 years ago.

I wish Marvel would put the Whole AWC series in Trade format.

.

First, it's about time! :) great article as always.

Some of my favorite comics of all time:

amazing spiderman 101,102 classic cover w/six arm spidey
team-up 3,4 morbius and xmen
giant size superheros #1 - man-wolf
mavel premire werewolf by night

as far as comic apperiences that would make a cool heroclix team:

Legion of Monsters # 28, 1975

Manthing
Morbius
Werewolf by Night
Ghost Rider

What a heroclix theme team this would be!

I am a huge Gil Kane fan as you can tell,

I agree that the Midnight Sons would make an awesome team,
and Legion of Monsters would be fun to play.

He's a part of Project: PEGASUS in Marvel Zombies 4, he helps out Machine Man and Jocasta.

Of course I know about those :D however those teams are far from being complete in Heroclix :( And it wouldn't be comic accurate to use proxys for non-existing characters.

For LOM we need Werewolf by Night, and for the Midnight Sons we'd need John Blaze (as the hellfire gun slinger), Frank Drake and Hannibal King, as well as Luise Hastings, Vicky Montesi and Sam Bucchanon...

THAT however is news to me. Thanks for pointing those out :)

Good set of teams - I really like Morbius as a character and as a clix. I'm putting together a team for an upcoming Modern Age tournament (300 pts) where Morbius is a member. I'm trying to create an accurate sense of the 1970's in comics rather than a specific team. All characters debuted in the 1970's and each represents a particular trend or genre that characterize the early Bronze Age:

Morbius - the relaxing of the comics code and the return of horror in comics.
Power Man and Iron Fist - one was the first black superhero with his own title and the vanguard of a decade of blaxploitation in comics. His partner, along with Shang-chi and the real life Bruce Lee, represent the rise of the kung-fu master.
Red Sonja [played here by the Samantha Parrington LE] - Conan the Barbarian and other sword and sorcery pulps make the (short) leap to the comic pages.
Howard the Duck - 'nuff sed

All for just under 300 points. A larger build and you gotta throw in the Green Lantern / Green Arrow duo for the social commentary and maybe Dazzler to wrap up the tailend of the decade.

Cool article, thanks. Hopefully Moribus will get newer versions of many of the figs you mentioned in this article to team-up with.

I've used Morbius on a Maximum Carnage team and a Midnight Sons team. Mixed results sum it up fairly well. The Midnight Sons team had him, both Ghost Riders, Blade and Strange, though the only problem was that this was 452 points and I had to put like 48 points of feats on. And like halfway through I started running out of sensible feats to put on, so you're just trying to fill points.

The Maximum Carnage team was Spidey, Venom, Black Cat, Morbius, Deathlok, Cap, Firestar, Iron Fist and Cloak & Dagger. But with each set, one more of these guys gets redone and I want to rebuild it. So when Web of Spider-Man gets released, the new Black Cat and probably a new Spidey will probably make their way onto the new build. The only downside for a while was the nerfing of Wild Cards, which hurt the team big time. Once the new rules come out, thank gods things will go back to normal and Sinister Venom will be able to lend an 11 attack to the Spider-Man Allies, who can then lend it to each other, making Firestar and Deathlok useful for once.

Depends on when you tried to play. 20 points should've gone to Brilliant Tactician on Dr. Strange. Taunt is perfect on MM Blade, bringing you to 35 total points. Double Time gets Ketch Rider off his activation click and and Lunge is pretty good on Blaze Rider and more than pretty good on Morbuis.

In 200 points you're capped at 20 points for feats. Use the other 8 for a wildcard Mary Jane hostage to copy Brock's AV for surprise attack.

I haven't even read the article yet but I just want to say THANK YOU for showing Morbius some lovin' support. I love the Living Vampire. My favorite Spidey books were the ones with appearances by Morbius. Now..on to the article...yay :)

Morbius, Machine Man, Howard the Duck all work for ARMOR now along with I think Spider Woman?

My Midnight Sons team:

Morbius + Lunge - 72
FF Dr. Strange E - 96
MM Blade V - 41
FF Ghost Rider V - 102
Daniel Ketch LE - 88

=399 points. You could also take away Lunge and Daniel in favor of the Ultimates Vet Ghost Rider to go featless for the same points.

I was wondering when you were going to give us Morbius teams :)
I have made several Maximum Carnage teams, (but usually with a larger build total).

For the first team, since there are no team abilities to copy, I would use the Vet Black Cat instead of the Exp. Or if you want a few points for feats, use the LE Felicia Hardy.
