Not what You think, otherwise I couldn't write this.
Okay, so I buy graphic novels instead of the individual issues. I have a choice of how to read them:
A) I can read them straight through and get an incredibly large dose of coolness every now and then.
OR
B) I can read it one "issue" at a time the way people read it originally and have several more doses of lesser coolness.
What's the vote?

I mostly buy graphic novels as well. I think the best way to read them depends on what you're reading and how it was originally written. If the whole graphic novel encompasses a single story arc, read it all at once. Thats how it was intended. If the graphic novel contains multiple story arcs or is a collection of stand alone issue, might be best to take a break to let yourself approach the next story with a clear perspective.

I'll sit down and read the entire sandman run or preacher in afternoon once a year or so. But if I'm ready a collection of astrocity (particularly Life in the Big City or Family Album) I'll read one story arc at a time with an hour or even a day's break between stories/issues
