Newbie Impervious Question

When the "Impervious" description says it reduces the damage done to him by 2, does that mean 2 clicks? or simply reduces the effectiveness of the attacker's attack level?

??

Same question about the Ranged Combat Expert: does this add 2 clicks, or simply improve the strength of a ranged attack?

Impervious reduces the damage done by two clicks. If you roll a 5 or a 6, it prevents all damage.

Ranged Combat Expert adds 2 clicks of damage to the printed damage on a successful ranged attack.
