Hi,

(Originally posted this in the DC forum - boy is my face red)

I've been messing around with 300-pt. Doom-centric teams recently, and have come up with a couple of incarnations that I like. I've only encountered a similar team once in a tournament, a search reveals no posts with similar teams, so I'm not sure if this combination is common or not. Anyhow, here's the first incarnation of this team:

V Dr. Doom (198)
V Doombot (38)
R Doombot (27)
V SHIELD Sniper (18)
V AIM Medic (17)

This is a pretty straight-forward team, centered around Dr. Doom raining destruction down upon his foes while the Doombots and the SHIELD figure add support through their various special abilities. Doom can shunt much of the damage he takes off onto the poor rookie Doombot, while Perplexing the range up on the V Doombot, if necessary. If not, then he Perplexes up the attack and/or damage on himself or whomever is make the attack that round. The major portion of Doom's attack is his multiple attacks with a long range and Energy Explosion. Aided by the SHIELD ability from the SHIELD figure and/or Doombots, and his damage on adjacent figures can reach obscene levels. Doom and the Doombots can also provide each other (and the SHIELD Sniper) with the Hydra ability to help in busting the head of a certain fire lord (I won't mention any names) or other hard to hit figure. If need be, they can taxi Doom around, which combines well with his Running Shot and very long range, for hitting individual figures.

I waffled a bit on the V Doombot's Leadership, so I put together the exact team, only with 2 E Doombots instead of a V and R. Pretty much the same tactics, except they can absorb just a little more damage for Doom due to Toughness.

A more interesting spin I recently put together was the inclusion of an E Boomerang instead of one of the E Doombots. The Minion of Doom team ability along with the Spider-man Enemy team ability allow the Doombots and Boomerang to share Doom's attack value. Doom can them carry Boomerang around and Perplex his range up. If Boomerang is placed in a square diagonally in front of Doom, this allows them to be able to hit the same targets with multiple attacks and Energy Explosion, which can wipe out a cluster of figures in a hurry. The Doombot should have no problem hauling around the SHIELD Sniper to aid in Doom's or Boomerang's attacks, while providing the Hydra ability for them, as well.

Obviously, the strengths of this team are in its ranged attacks and mobility. I've found that Stealth teams are only slightly more effective against it, as none of these figures are a slouch in close combat, especially with Boomerang providing the Spider-man team ability to them all. The one time I can smacked was against a cheesy Firelord-Human Torch-based team, which also involved some tactical errors on my part (Doom's overconfidence rubbed off on me ). The rest of the time, I usually wipe out the other team in around 10-20 minutes, gawd-awful dice-rolls notwithstanding.

Now if I could only get the SHIELD guy with Willpower to replace the Sniper....

What say you all?

Outwit Doom's Mastermind with a stealthed Black Panther. Insert massive damage on Doom. You lose.

Too much dependency on Dr. Doom will doom this team. He'll be a major target. It'd sure be fun to play, though. I'd replace one of the doombots with someone that can do close combat well, or maybe even R-Black Panther to counter outwit to help protect Doom.

another thing you need to consider is that their wildcard ablilities are kinda going to waste. Lower Doom to Ex and add another doombot, take away the sniper and add a little something else in that might help instead.

I have fielded a very similar team to this one. It can work well as a first strike team if your opponet has a his team lumped all together. However if you don't get the first die roll your in for a fight and will most ikely loose. Doom is a great piece to centera team around, but he works best in 500 point games. your team will work great against newbies, but against an experienced player you'll be having problems. For teh same cost as Doom, you should downgrade your V Doombot to and E Wasp (so your other doombot can take advantage of free movement) and pick up and E Ultron and E boomerang. You could be doing more damage on that first strike.

I don't know if you mix/match with DC clix but... I always like to pair up Dr. Doom w/ someone who has Impervious like Brainiac 13 or Doomsday for example... Somone w/ super senses is pretty good too
