i know that if you roll boxcars (6 and 6), it is scored as a critical hit, +1 to damage, and will knock the character back adding damage if knocked back into blocking terrain or but what if i am knocked back into friendly/opposing characters?
what of SNAKE-EYES? along with one click of damage to myself, do i also knock my character back?
thanks for clearing anything up!

If you are knockbacked into any character, no extra damage is taken from them.
And on Critical Misses, you don't move back one space.

what about knocked back off a roof? (for grounded characters, i know they fall into the first available space after the blocking terrain line and takes another 1 click of damage, but...WHAT OF HOVERERS/FLIERS?) what if grounded characters are knocked back and the square immediately after the roof is occupied by a friendly/opposing character? thanks for clearing this up!

You take no damage for being knockedback into another figs base.
There is no knockback for a critical miss as knockback only occurs on a successful attack.

I believe Xanth said when flyers are knocked off elevated terrain, they move their full knockback distance instead of ending up in the first square down. They do not take damage from falling off, unless they hit another blocking terrain (i.e. wall). This represents the figure getting knocked back in an arc because they can fly, instead of falling straight down like a grounded figure does.

ok thanks for clearing it up about fliers/hoverers, but what of grounded characters that are knocked off a roof INTO a space occupied by another figure already, either opposing or friendly? does the knocked back character "hang off" the roof and stop at the final roof terrain, the one he/she would have fallen off if not for the other figure on the ground? i hope i m clear with my question?
first off, dc does NOT rule, and second there is NO not now not ever any damage for bieng knocked into another fig. in your suggeted scene simply place the fig one place to the left or right.
From the DC FAQ at the WizKids site. Can be found under "Knockback":
If a figure is knocked back off elevated terrain, and there is a figure in the space they would land in, they do not leave the elevated terrain. Instead, they stop before entering the space with the figure and take 1 click of damage, as though they hit a wall. Such a figure is understood to have seen the character below and clung madly to the edge to avoid falling on them.
Seems pretty straightforward to me.

Here are Xanth's posts on this subject:
Example #1 - Wolverine is standing at the edge of a building and Sabretooth clocks him for 4 damage. Wolvie's Toughness absorbs 1 so his net damage is 3 clicks. Ordinarily this would mean he would be knocked back 3 spaces but in this example the first square he is knocked back into is ground square. He would not be moved any further since he fell off but would take 2 clicks of damage from the fall.
Example #2- Magneto is in the same square as Wolvie and Sabretooth hits him for a net of 3 clicks damage. Magneto is knocked back the full 3 squares since he is a flyer and has not run into the map edge or blocking terrain.
Example #3 - Magneto is on the ground beside a building and gets clocked for 3 damage. His first knockback square bangs him into the building where he stops and takes 1 click for hitting the wall.
Hope this helps.
He was questioned on that, so he replied:
It could be I'm wrong but this is the way I understood it. The FAQ entry says "If a figure is knocked off elevated terrain, they are placed in the first space outside the elevated terrain that their path reaches; taking two clicks of damage. " The stopping in that square and taking the damage are linked; stopping in the square is smacking into the ground and suffering for it. Since the flyer isn't hitting the ground and is not suffering for doing so we play it that the fig is not stopped prematurely by the ground either.
This could be misinterpreting it but I believe it came up in the judges forum a while back. I'll post a question to Chapeau on it.
So far, no update as to an answer. Here's the thread: http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24847&perpage=15&pagenumber=2 Logically, this makes sense, but when has logic ever entered a HeroClix game? ;)
