Who is the best Trio in music? From Power Rock Trios to acoustic to the Brothers Gibb, all these suggestions came from HCR members. Since we didn't have a full 64 bands to fill out the brackets, I gave 16 bands a first round bye. There will be 16 matches in round 1 and 16 in round two. Each band will get one song from youtube or other links and you make a choice based on the songs provided.

So vote for your faves, match by match and then round by round until we get to the final match and you can decide which band is the best of the trios and can be crowned Champion of the Realms.

If you feel a reason to hype a certain band and influence voters, by all means be our guest. No one knows every nuance of every act and maybe you can sway someone to your side.

Now to quote the Master of the Arena, the Ruler of the Rock Wars, the Lord of Lyrics, DTM: So what say you all. Which of these songs will move onto the Next Round, and which will be left on the cutting room floor?

As much as I dig West, Bruce and Laing in their other endeavors, I never got into their incarnation here too much.

Los Lonely Boys

And Hail, I think you're line from the last matchup may work better here...wizard on the side of the van.

Did Sleater-Kinney get a bye? If so well done sir.

And I'll take West Bruce and Lang as the slightly lesser of two evils.

Yes they did, and their second round match is already set too. I can't tell you yet who they're going up against, but it will be one of the winners from round 1.

As I'm assuming did Rush and Triumph?

Los Loney Boys FTW.

for that answer, please allow me to direct you to Wintremute's post in match 14:
Is Rush in this contest (or their weaker little brothers, Triumph)?

West, Bruce & Laing for me. Los Lonely Boys are ok but they need to get busy if they want to overcome a Leslie West/Jack Bruce combination.

Thanks, it seems I should be sticking around as opposed to voting and checking the results the next day.

With these guys, I'm thinking it's either the van or a "Smokey and the Bandit" edition Pontiac Firebird with the T-tops off. And I'll go with Los Lonely Boys because they're sweet guys (at this point, I'm curious to see how many of these matches will involve me voting for the band that was nicest to me the last time they came through Chicago).
