Here's a question that cropped up in a game today...

Can my opponant use Perplex (weilded by Enchantress) to increase-by-one the number of lightning bolts on the piece, eg giving Cyclops an extra "split-attack" ?

If she can, can she also use perplex to lower the number of 'bolts to zero on a 1 'bolt character ?

Does the number of 'bolts count as a combat value ?

How would you justify

YES and/or NO as your answer ?

I dont think so. Lightning bolts are symbols, not printed number values.

They aren't a printed number - but they are a combat value.

I agree, I don't THINK they can be perplexed - but it's how to explain or justify that...

The five Perplexable combat values are speed, attack, defense, damage and range. Lightning bolts cannot be Perplexed as they are the symbol for a combat value, but are not themselves a combat value.

And remember that Perplex only lasts until the end of your turn, not into your opponent's, so even if you could Perplex down the number of bolts it wouldn't prove useful.

Both those points were useful, and the second point was both useful and logical, and makes total sense.

My thanks.
