View Full Version : High powered wild cards for the good guys?

Every high power wildcard in the game is a villan. They have Doom, Annihilus and Ultron. Who do the heros have?
Vet Spiderman? Vet Sandman?
Spiderman is a great figure in many ways, but he is not a hub for a good-guy wildcard team, and experenced Sandman is already being used since he's the only hero with the sinister syndicate ability. They just don't have the "big guns" to support it with any consistancy.
Are there any powerfull heroes that would fit the spiderman team? The only one I can think of is Silver Surfer. Any others?

I'd argue that although there aren't any big guns on Spiderman Team, all of the current members are very good figures. V Daredevil is a great figure for the approach, V Sandman can kill weenies in droves, V Spiderman is great with Batman team and in league with E Black Cat.
Typically, I don't build teams with several Wild Card occurences because it limits the number of non-WC's you can include on your team. If you do and one non-WC gets taken out, the whole team suffers. Instead I use 1 or 2 WC's and multiple team abilities to turn those WC's into "big guns". That's why Spidey and Black Cat work so well together.

I'm just wondering if any of the high-powered characters in marvel qualify for spiderman team membership.
So Far I have thought of Silver Surfer and Namor.

the point is Spiderman was mostly a loner (who occasionally teamed up) so he's the wildcard.
I just don't see any big hero's having the Spidey-team.

If Spiderman were the only person on the team...
but as it stands, we have:
LE. Hawkeye
LE. Rita DeMara (yellojacket)
LE. Black widow
exp black cat
vet sandman
vet and unique spiderman
vet daredevil
Of the ones listed above, Silver Surfer and Mar-vel seem like the most logical of choices.
There is a odd chance that the L.E. Crimson Dynamo (1st place marquee prize) could be on the Spiderman team. Now, this is no rumor, I have no inside information of any kind.
Like Rita DeMara, the Dynamo was a villan for the majority of his history, but in his later years he has been known to take the role of hero.
Crimson Dynamo isn't a villian. He isn't even the same guy who originally fought Iron Man. He is a soldier in the Soviet (now Russian) army. He serves his time and passes the armor to the next person. Depending on the current US/Soviet political situation is what puts CD for or against the American heroes.
Silver Surfer and Namor should be Defenders, with Namor possibly an Avenger for the Vet. Captain Mar-vell or his son, whichever they do, is the best choice for WC. He is not a joiner, but has teamed with everyone but the Xmen.

I don't think it should be too unexpected that the Spider-Man team doesn't have any heavy hitters. In the comics, Spidey and friends were typically a third tier of character in terms of power in comparison to the cosmic characters as the first tier and the second tier of high-powered characters like the X-Men or Avengers.
for spiderman wildcards they *could* do:
Surfer (because he's teamed with the Skrulls, Defenders, FF, Avengers, Doom, and others - not sure about xmen) but if any herald of galactus was a wildcard, it would have to be him - otherwise no affil
Iceman (if only because of spidey and his amazing friends)
Beast *could've been* a spiderman wildcard (and may be if they do an LE that isn't avengers)
Any marvel hero who was as closely tied to the spider book as daredevil (ex, Punisher maybe - altho I think Punisher rookiee would be MoD and Vet would be spidey team - and again, not a heavy hitter)
Silver sable - but she's not a heavy hitter
A version of antman (because of his close assosciation with several teams simultaneously - optionally portrayable as two seperate logos) again, not a heavy hitter
Any spiderman villain who has turned good and joined with spidey (Puma or Prowler?) not really big heavy hitters
Adam warlock might be a spiderman team, simply because he's a wildcard *shrug* but he's not really a heavy hitter either

A friend of mine had two good ideas for Spidey Wildcard heavyhitters: A Captain Universe-powered Spidey Unique, and a Human Torch Unique. I am not a big fan of re-doing figures every set, and I think we have plenty versions of Spidey already, but I think a Cap Uni Spidey would be different enough to be justified. And Torch's current R/E/V incarnation is sadly weak, so i wouldn't complain too much about a more powerful version of him, either.
well, there is really only a whole HOST of low powere people for the spidey team.
Silver Sable
Prowler
Rocket Racer
Ben Reilly/Scarlet Spider
Venom ( he, they teamed up to fight Carnage, didn't they?)
The New Warriors
Cloak and Dagger
But no real "big" names
anyone else know of any "big guns" that would rate a spidey team symbol?

Oddly enough, I could see ben Grimm (The Thing) getting a Spiderman team version. He had the whole "solo wrestler" period, plus he hung out with the West Coast Avengers for a while,m though never officially joined. Also he was the star of hios own "team up" series(Two-in-One??) way back when.
Since he's already been made, I highly doubt he'll end up being made that way. :(

An argument could be made for Wolverine. Or that his "Logan" version should have had the Spidey Team ability at some level. But then he'd be even more dangerous...
Of the ones mentioned, I think Venom and Punisher would have it on their Experienced levels. A Scarlet Spider figure would be neat, although they might give it to him on only Exp level (or Vet). A Torch with Wild Card would be neat, as well as Iceman, but each the FF & X-Men have decent team abilitys for Spidey to copy.
I think the main reason there are more powerful wildcard villains is that villains are the ones usually teaming up to take out their enemy teams. Doom treats even "main" villains as lackeys with all that Master Mind. Ultron uses organic beings like we use machines. Annihilus works with whoever will work with him to take out the FF.
On the other hand, Spidey, DD, Black Cat, & Sandman are all characters that team up with other heroes when asked. Spidey isn't going to go search out the X-Men when Doc Ock comes to town. But he'll ask the Torch for help with Venom. Or accept help from Cap and others with Carnage...
