I have a 700 pt Golden age game coming up and I want to play starter Doom. What is the best fig for him to pack and push off damage to?
Good things to have-
1. Lowish point cost, preferably under 120
2. Regeneration w/ Auto Regen( nice to have but not a must)
3.TA that helps out Doom.
4. Damage reducers.
5. 2nd or 3rd String attaker
Figs I am considering...

1 Super Skrull X-men- a little pricey
2. Metallo B&B
3. Gorilla Man
4. Ulik- Easy to heal
5. Volstagg- lots of damage reducers

You guys got any picks?

Of those I would choose Gorilla man. He is the cheapest and that way you have more points for other attackers.

In a Golden Age game, I'd say just pack in some HYDRA from "Sinister" and a bunch of Skrulls from "Supernova". They're cheap, better than typical cannon-fodder, and the HYDRA guys will be boosting Doom's attack while the Skrull TA will be making his Mastermind-or-Invuln defense even more obnoxious to break through, keeping him on that badass first click.

Consider this:

Gypsy and Karolina Dean.

MM Gypsy onto her lat click and Doom gets to bask in her 19 Defend. Follow that up by MMing Karolina on to her SP that gives all adjacent to her ES/D.

Doom wanna 21 D against range?

For MM Fodder i always liked "Swamp Thing" REV set, as well as the "Lockjaw" REV set. I'd almost suggest adding a Chief from Crisis on the team [support, plus other cool powers] and then loading it up with lockjaw and swamp things for fodder.

If you need a 2ndary attacker, Vandal Savage and The General both are awesome and have 5 clix of regen. Pretty insane for Auto-Regen but also over 120 points.

For more help/interesting approach, Dr Destiny from AA is always a favorite of mine, Prob control + Mind Control + Auto Regen means he'll stick around forever. Leaves ya with enough points for a Doombot or something.

You could easily use a pile of doombots, and singleton Mystic, and maybe batman TA [Alfred pog?] to have them be more useful. Don't discount the amount of damage people will take with a horde of mystic doombots around. Toss in a shield and hydra rookie [10 points each] so your 'bots can improve range/damage/attack-- depending on who's getting shot.

My favorite MM fodder peice is Prof Ivo.

jl022 V Professor Ivo
Team: No Affiliation
Range: 0 :bolt:
Points: 59
Keywords: Mutant, Scientist

No TA though. But in Golden Age that gives you:

Security Guard 6 points Police TA
Jarvis 4 points Avengers TA
Alfred 6 points Batman TA
Alicia 5 points FF TA

And there is always the 17 point Lois Lane chase with the Superman TA.

So with them, and Ivo, it will cost you 97 points. That is well under your 120 limit. :)

And if you don't include Lois Ivo and Doom are theme as well. :)

The new AE Clark Kent may not be able to soak up too much damage, but he may be a good option for an extra fig thrown in. He has 5 clicks (4 of which have toughness), and when he gets hit, he goes on to Perplex and his special power. If he soaks up a 4-5 damage hit then reduces it with toughness, he'll be able to turn into Supes, also granting Doom the Superman Ally TA for a fairly cheap cost.

I like masterminding to junkpile. Sheild ta is great for doom. And lots of damage reducers plus mid dial regen keeps him nice and healthy.

Vet Shade with auto regen is one of my favorite figs of all time. No Damage reducers, but he has 7 clicks, mystics, and gets TK and outwit after taking damage.

Dr. Doom
2x The Wizard Shazam
2x Fabian Cortez (one with Armor Piercing)
Even if they hit Dr. Doom they're gonna eat Mystics and with Fabian on the field he's gonna have at least a 21D (Perplex twice + hindering). With Mastermind Doom can send damage to either Wizard and the last thing an opponent wants to is free them from "The Rock" because Fabian will just turn them into unstoppable monsters (Hypersonic 12 attack 6 damage yes please).

I'd go with the 65 Point Atom [who is awesome], and Swamp Thing or Lockjaw style figures.. huge dials and easy to heal. Win/Win.

lockjaw, lockjaw, or lockjaw, toughness , long dial, and phase/teleport dosent hurt either

Badoon Commanders, 37 points, enhance, give skrull team, what's not to love?

Danger is a good pick for the Special Power alone, IMO. Plus she can be carried top dial. Can't go wrong with that.

Personally, I've found the HoT Ulik to fill this role well. Unless you're getting hit by Psychic blast, all damage Ulik takes is going to be reduced to 1, so he'll stick around for a long, long time. Plus, if your opponent chooses to base you instead of range attack you, Ulik can charge them for big damage with an object or use Quake to get the opponent off your back. His low defense also makes him easy to heal up, so it's hard to go wrong with him.

I'm liking the X-Men/MoE combo. I once used that with Doom...he went six straight turns without clearing. That plus three Enhancement-type Doombots=Hell unleashed.

I like Clark Kent as MM fodder..in fact it's about all he's good for, IMHO.

The only concern I would have would be if your opponent loves him some Fortitude. You got a lot of points invested in Outwit and in 700, he could play 4 of them.

Other than that terribly minor concern, I think you got a sick team here!

here!

Thanks for the encouragement. I was going to replace Kent with another 40 pt Doom Bot but then I have NO way to deal with Batman. So I think I have to keep him. As far as Fortitude goes we are feat capped at 10% so at most there will be 2 figs with it assigned. So... I like my chances. However I could toss in some dissent or thwart if I switched some stuff around... Nahh got to go with my gut.

Yeah..only two Fortitudes in 700...I dunno how the hell I got four. I gotta stop posting drunk.

But, if Clark/Supes is there to deal with Batman, do you not run the risk of having Clark KO'd before he can change?
