My wife and I have switched from playing total elimination to playing timed matches (50 minutes). As a result, Support has lost some power. It has become an early game reset button rather than a late game tide-turner.

This has prompted me to wonder-

****Do most of yall play timed matches or go for total elimination of the opposing team(s)?*****

I believe that timed matches are more fun. If you have problems with stalling, get a chess clock. Once a person burns 22 minutes, then their turns have to be completed in 1 minute or less or they forfiet their actions.

For tournements, we always use 50 minute rounds. Pick-up games are either way, depending on the circumstances. If it's just a bunch of us at the comic store in the middle of the afternoon, then we dont' bother timing it. If it's in the evening, and somebody's wife want's them home by 7pm, then it's timed. We havn't taken to using chess clocks due to their high prices, but the idea of using a small 2-4 minute hour glass per round is gaining popularity (with me at least).

I play both. I prefer total elimination though personally. Nothing like duke'n it out til the end and being able to say you're the last one standing. However, tournament play doesn't particularily allow for those type of games because there's a limited amount of time to complete the tournament in, and typically the total elimination games tend to last longer.

Both have their pros and cons, and different strategies.
