Just wondering... are there any plans to bring out the Wolverine Alpha set originally announced for early 2009?
Given the production timeline I suspect the dials were mostly or completely finished, and NECA!WK obviously has no worries about recycling sculpts as far back as Infinity Challenge.
Since I'm a huge fan of the Batman Alpha set, I was definitely looking forward to the X-Men getting their turn. You wouldn't have to retain the Alpha branding, just release the figures.

Could make for some super cost-effective Wolverines.
And the one thing the X-Men lack in general is tons and tons of smoke cloud.

Now that Nightcrawer is dead, I guess that is true

given that Wolverine Alpha was intended to be alongside the Wolverine: Origins movie, and it bombed harder than Nagasaki,... I'd say the set was scuttled.

It's still the X-Men. Not like they're going out of style.
Though I suppose they might get held back for X-Men: First Class.

I'd still like to see this released. I think we could get some good figures out of this. While X-Men is a good TA.... it is nowhere near as powerful as the Batman Ally TA, so I don't feel that this batch will be as hampered by not having a TA as the Batman Alpha figures was.

Actually Wolverine Origins didn't bomb at all. It sucked hardcore, but it did pretty good in the box office. According to Box Office Mojo, it made almost 179 million domestic and 193 foreign on a 150 million budget. Pretty good for a film that leaked early online and was ripped apart by fans. Honestly, I'd have to say Wolverine Alpha's no-showness is more to do with the year hiatus of Heroclix and the new focus on the Heroclix Classics packs instead of the Alpha set. Will we see them, in the future? Maybe. Dials are likely all planned out, but NECA hasn't made any moves or mentions of Alpha at all. They obviously seem to think Classics is a good entry point for new player though given the amount we've seen and were previewed at Toyfair. If we do ever see more Alpha, I'd say next year at the very earliest and most likely it'll be themed to match movies being released. So Captain America Alpha, Thor Alpha, or even Green Lantern Alpha, though I more see them as Classics packs instead.
