the FAQ states that the Brotherhood special ability can
"...... be used even if the figure fails a breakaway roll".

does this mean:

a) that the figure can make a breakaway roll, fail it, and move for free anyway

b)something else

I had assumed that the free movement team abilities functioned as normal moves but the FAQ suggests otherwise.

Any takers?

This would mean that the figure can either:

1) trying to break away normally, at the cost of an action token from your alloted actions...

2) declare using the Brotherhood/Avenger/JLA team ability to try and break away. The figure is still assigned a token, but it is not from your alloted pool of actions.

Dose this make sense?

that does make sense, and it was how i thought the rule would work.

however, unless i am missing something obvious (and it wouldnt be the first time...) it does seem a little ambiguous.

i wouldnt like to have to explain that reasoning to a competetive and potentially young player at a tournament.

(BTW thanks for the quick reply!)

This was to clarify a previous clarification which actually confused people. The original clarification said that the 'free move' could be used only if the character actually moved (rather than just use a move action like Barrier or Regeneration) so a lot of people wondered if it meant that failing to pass a breakaway attempt and thereby not actually moving would result in the attempt taking up one of the actions after all. This clarification was intended to let those people know that failure to move the figure because of not passing the breakaway would not mean that the player had now used up an action for that turn.
