Who owns the rights to John Carter nowadays? That might be the clincher on any Heroclix release for the franchise.

The character of Jonah Hex at least comes under the heading of DC Comics and WizKids had already made a figure of him before the movie, so I assume NECA already had the rights when they made the action pack for the movie.

That said, I'd certainly not be opposed to a John Carter action pack. I picture John Carter having the 'Soldier' keyword and Dejah Thoris being one of the cheaper figures with the 'Ruler' keyword (especially in the Modern setting).

John Carpenter of Mars would be great, but I think I'd actually prefer to see him as part of a Mega Battle Pack with other victorian era heroes and villains; perhaps based on the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen graphic novels (Carpenter is in the 2nd volume). A little set of Carpenter, Quartermain, Nemo, Harker, Hyde and a giant alien tripod would please me greatly, especially if it received the same level of creative attention that the Watchmen set has. Dang. Now I'll have to track back down the thread on possible dials for victorian heroes and start on some mods.

*edit* Does my memory serve correctly? Isn't League of Extraordinary Gentleman a DC imprint? Perhaps it's possible.

You know, I'm not sure what a Dejah Thoris figure would do to make her stories accurate.

Trait: Opposing characters adjacent to Dejah Thoris gain the capture ability. If given an action, adjacent opposing characters must be given an action to attempt to capture her. When Dejah Thoris is captured, characters named John Carter of Mars gain +2 to all combat values.

That seems about right. : - )

Would you believe someone was playing Carpenters in the background when I posted before? No? Darn, that was my best excuse for getting it wrong. I would love a John Carter of Mars set. You could have a John Carter (exp) and Warlord of Mars (vet). Tars Tarkas/green men and the white apes could be giants. There are tons of possibilities. Hopefully with the movie coming out they will seriously consider this!
