Okay boys and girls, here we have 64 showtunes, from some of our favorite musicals, which will be pitted against one another, Match by Match, Round by Round, weeding them all out until they get to the FINAL MATCH, which will have our two favorite showtunes face against one another to see which one emerges as Grand Champion of our latest Rock Wars!

As always, this TOC should be voted using a very simple criteria, which song do YOU like more, which do YOU feel you would rather listen to, and which would YOU say is ultimately more deserving to move on. Easy. :)

Pretty basic really. Songs are matched up, you all vote on the one you like more, the winner goes to the Next Round, and we do this over and over again until the Rounds are Over. I do ask that you all give objective opinions and votes here, listening to all songs and arguments here within this TOC with an open mind, beginning to end, and base your honest votes from that.

You know the drill by now, but since I’m running this for the boss I’ll add his caveat - as always we ask that you please listen to each song again with each new match before voting. Thanks all. :)

So without further adieu, let’s get started with the latest match of many matches to come, in HCRs latest Rock Wars, Favorite Showtune!

I now give you:

THE SONG THAT GOES LIKE THIS (Spamalot) ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Js-6Lx-SZso)

vs.

YOU CAN’T STOP THE BEAT (Hairspray) ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLZcSHwYUE8)

So what say you all - which of these songs will move onto the Next Round, and which will go off-off Broadway?

Lovely, One Day More, and Skid Row all get shot down, and one of these two gets to move on to round three. Don't get me wrong, neither of these are bad songs. I just think that the others would have been more deserving. But them's the breaks. You Can't Stop the Beat is a good, catchy tune, but The Song That Goes Like This is the cleverer one. I like clever.

It's amazing how often in this ToC I'll read your post and think, "Yep, that's exactly how I feel."

I like both these songs, but on top of having nominated it, THE SONG THAT GOES LIKE THIS is, as Gargantua said, a song that's more cleaver. And I like the kind of satire it has going on. So it gets my vote.

I like Monty Python a lot, but I like John Waters even more.

Since this one's tied we'll keep 'em open longer -

Will someone break the tie, or are we destined to have yet another random winner?
